Abstract:With the increasing of Multimedia applications over Internet,TCP-friendly congestion control scheme for (multimedia) streaming becomes a hot spot.This mechanism based on RTP/RTCP protocol.Congestion stated is notified to the sender using ECN.RED queue management is used in the router.TCP-friendly rate adjustment algorithm is adopted in the end host.ECNBCC is TCP-friendly and can respond to early congestion of network to reduce the packet loss rate and delay.This mechanism can also be applied to congestion control of wireless multimedia streaming.

Abstract:Multimedia data include text, image, audio and video, etc. Recent developments and advances in the areas of mass storage technology and high speed networks make it feasible for multimedia computing systems to offer services such as multimedia e-mail, teleconferencing and various vivid games. The storage and retrieval of multimedia data are two of the most important technologies in the future multimedia systems. This paper analyzes the synchronization requirements of the delay-sensitive media streams, classifies the synchronization hierarchically and proposes several effective strategies for the intra-media and inter-media data placement problems.

Integrating with a multimedia data model, a synchronization model based on PETRI net is presented to represent temporal relationships among multimedia data. Abstract:Computer Supported Collaboration has not only changed the way people work, but also the way people live, the way people entertain and the way people get education. The development of the Internet provides digital en tertainments and distant-learning with a good network environment and in these applications, 2.5D virtual environ ments are widely used due to their good performances and the sense of realism. But the Internet's inherent problem of latency affects the real-time feature of the virtual envirorunents, in particular multi-server ones. Based on traditional multi-server communication models, a new multi-server one is brought out which extended the region managed by each server. The model was adopted in Zhejiang Tourism Expo'2003, and achieved a great success.

Abstract:The World Wide Web has become a new and powerful medium. However, applications on the Web are currently not fully multimedia supported. This is mainly because that the synchronization in the Web environment can be extremely complex, as the network infrastructure on which the Web is based provides no guarantee of real time data transfer, especially for large media, such as audio and video. In this article, weak synchronization is introduced as an efficient approach to specify temporal relationships among objects in a multimedia document to gain the best presentation performance. This approach provides a new modeling mechanism that can specify the precise as well as imprecise temporal relationships among involved objects. Specifications on inter-media synchronization, such as strict synchronization method and loose synchronization method, are also included in the approach.

Abstract:Stream synchronization is the key problem in real-time multimedia communication.Some present strategies for synchronization control are introduced,and a solution to synchronization control problem based on RTP/RTCP is designed and implemented.The process and algorithm of the audio-video synchronization are analyzed in detail.The solution is applied to VoIP,and satisfactory results are achieved.

Abstract:Synchronization is the major processing task during multimedia presentation, which defines the time relation between multimedia objects. There are many synchronization specification methods, and each has different advantages and disadvantages. Those methods work well for the simple and specific synchronization case, but when considering large complex multimedia presentation, there lacks an effective method to deal with the complex time relation. In this paper, a synchronization point based specification method (SPM) is proposed, and based on it, a static and dynamic validation mechanism for the synchronization relation is given. In SPM, the synchronization relation is defined in synchronization points (SP). Multimedia presentation control is based on SP's status during presentation. According to the order of SPs, SPM gives the static and dynamic validation algorithm, which can avoid the conflict relation between SPs. SPM gives a way to define the nondetermined synchronization relation between multimedia objects, and proposes static and dynamic validation mechanisms for complex synchronization control. This synchronization point based mechanism can extend the capability of synchronization definition and control in a multimedia system

Abstract:Multimedia information is in an increasing proportion of network information in the wake of exponentially growing number of new network devices,Video on demand(VoD) or new applications. As a key technique of multimedia system,multimedia synchronization is of ever-increasing importance. The ubiquitous distributed networks put new demands on distributed multimedia synchronization especially,so a synchronization scheme requiring no global clock was proposed aiming at the complex structure of distributed multimedia system and the increasing types of continuous media appeared in the distributed networks. The Scheme just demands a simple feedback message which is sent to the source from the destination,and it eliminates synchronization disruption caused by network delay jitter by using the feedback messages and the ingenious buffer setting; achieves intra-media synchronization by using intrinsic relationship between different continuous media,then obtains full multimedia synchronization under various structured networks. Simulation shows that the scheme could ensure the synchronization of replaying of multimedia data between destinations. And the scheme is applicable to various distributed networks with different structure and different types of continuous multimedia.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the synchronization for heterogeneous network subject to event-triggering communication. The designed controller for each node includes reference generator (RG) and regulator. The predicted value of relative information between intermittent communication can significantly reduce the transmitted information. Based on the event triggering strategy and time-dependent threshold, all RGs can exponentially track the target trajectory. Then by the action of regulator, each node synchronizes with its RG. Meanwhile, a positive lower bound is obtained for the interevent intervals. Numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed event triggering strategy.

Abstract:The study of telemedicine system models plays an important part in the telemedicine applications. A good model not only makes efficient implementation of telemedicine applications, but also reduces the expense of systems. To meet the requirement of telemedicine system, by introducing services of communication and system, a client/server model driven by messages is presented, and the principle and methods about the model are discussed layer by layer. At last, an example of telemedicine applications which has been implemented in the environment of Internet and Microsoft Windows 95 is given out. The result of the application indicates that the model has excellent expansibility and the feature easy to implement.

Abstract:This paper describes an end-to-end QoS (Quality of Services) control model for distributed multimedia computing on enhanced Internet, and gives the design and implementation of this model including hosts and routers. The architecture, the mathematical definition about QoS parameters, and the mapping between Integrated Service (IS) and Differentiated Service (DS) are discussed in this paper. The simulation shows that this model can improve the performance of audio streams when it is used in IPhone system.

Abstract:This paper presents some novel synchronization methods for two discrete-time chaotic systems with different time delays, which are transformed into two unified models. First, the H ∞ performance of the synchronization error dynamical system between the drive unified model and the response one is analyzed using the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. Second, the novel state feedback controllers are established to guarantee H ∞ performance for the overall system. The parameters of these controllers are determined by solving the eigenvalue problem (EVP). Most discrete-time chaotic systems with or without time delays can be converted into this unified model, and H ∞ synchronization controllers are designed in a unified way. The effectiveness of the proposed design methods are demonstrated by three numerical examples.

Abstract:Unified message is a new technology which joints different communications together including telephone, mobile phone, short message and E-mail. This paper analyzes current unified message systems and gives the principle of unified message systems, that is, it makes paths between unconnected terminates by establishing an E-mail center astroid link structure using CTI technology to enrich communication methods. E-mail is important in unified message systems. An E-mail format called UM Mail is presented which is designed by extending the MIME protocol.

Virtually,it can be used as a basic facility for data exchanging and automatic processing in various domain applications. From this point of view,a new model of E-mail application is presented in this paper,and based on the new model,we advise a two-layer framework for implementation. Abstract:Complicated control and management functionality is required in CSCW supporting environment which supports multiple collaborations running simultaneously. Synchronous interaction with multimedia real-time group communications is another key issue in high performance CSCW supporting environment. This paper presents a new model of CSCW supporting environment. The model separates the management and control aspects of collaborations and resources, and uses the OSI Manager/Agent model to enhance the management functionality. In addition, multi-party multimedia communications related issues such as call/connection control, multimedia real-time transmission and resource management are considered in the model. This paper also describes the design and implementation of a CSCW supporting environment prototype system on ATM network and Unix operating system platform.
