Abstract:A Predator–Prey system is proposed with an introduction of anorexia response on one prey population. By using the comparison theorem and constructing suitable Lyapunov function, we study such Predator–Prey system with almost periodic coefficients. Some sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of a unique almost periodic solution. Numerical simulations of Predator–Prey system with anorexia response and the one without anorexia response are performed. Our observations suggest that anorexia response on one prey population has a destabilizing effect on the persistence of such Predator–Prey system.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the coexistence of steady states for a kind of reaction-diffusion model with Holling-Tanner term under the third boundary conditions. By means of maximum principles and Hopf boundary lemma, the prior estimates of the strict positive solutions are given at first. Then by using the topological fixed point theorems and extending Leray-Schauder degree on Banch spaces to positive cones, the existence of positive solutions of the system are considered. At last, by calculating the indices of fixed points of compact operators in cones and combining with spectrum analysis of operators, maximum principles and lower-upper solutions methods, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the positive solutions of the steady system are obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence and global stability of the positive periodic solutions of delayed discrete food chains with omnivory. With the help of continuation theorem in coincidence degree theory and Lyapunov functions, some sufficient conditions are obtained. The results show that, for such a system with omnivory, more conditions are required for the persistence of the positive periodic solutions than that of a linear food chain. Abstract:This paper is concerned with positive steady-state solutions of a class of cross-diffusion systems which arise in the study of the predator–prey systems with prey-taxis. Under homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions, we use the theory of fixed point index in positive cones to establish the existence of positive steady-state solutions. By analyzing two related eigenvalues, we further obtain the coexistence region with respect to the growth rates of two species and characterize the differences of coexistence region if different predator–prey interactions are adopted. Additionally, we investigate the limiting behavior of positive steady-state solutions as some parameter tends to infinity. Our results not only generalize the previously known one, but also present some new conclusions.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a food chain model with ratio-dependent functional response and prey-taxis. We first investigate the global existence and boundedness of the unique positive classical solutions of the system in a bounded domain with smooth boundary and Neumann boundary conditions. Then, we analyze the local stability of the system and the existence of Hopf bifurcation. In addition, we prove the global asymptotic stability of steady states under some conditions by constructing a Lyapunov functional, and investigate convergence rates. Finally, we present several numerical simulations to illustrate the results.

Abstract:In view of the logical consistence, the model of a two-prey one-predator system with Beddington-DeAngelis functional response and impulsive control strategies is formulated and studied systematically. By using the Floquet theory of impulsive equation, small amplitude perturbation method, and comparison technique, we obtain the conditions which guarantee the global asymptotic stability of the two-prey eradication periodic solution. We also proved that the system is permanent under some conditions. Numerical simulations find that the system appears the phenomenon of competition exclusion.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with a diffusive predator-prey system with Beddington-DeAngelis functional response and delay effect. By analyzing the distribution of the eigenvalues, the stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of spatially homogeneous and spatially inhomogeneous periodic solutions are investigated. Also, it is shown that the small diffusion can affect the Hopf bifurcations. Finally, the direction and stability of Hopf bifurcations are determined by normal form theory and center manifold reduction for partial functional differential equations.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a Holling type II predator–prey system with prey refuge, Allee effect, fear effect and time delay. The existence and stability of the equilibria of the system are investigated. Under the variation of the delay as a parameter, the system experiences a Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium when the delay crosses some critical values. We also analyze the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic solution by the center manifold theorem and normal form theory. We show that the influence of fear effect and Allee effect is negative, while the impact of the prey refuge is positive. In particular, the birth rate plays an important role in the stability of the equilibria. Examples with associated numerical simulations are provided to prove our main results.

Abstract:This paper concerns pattern formation in a class of reaction-advection-diffusion systems modeling the population dynamics of two predators and one prey. We consider the biological situation that both predators forage along the population density gradient of the preys which can defend themselves as a group. We prove the global existence and uniform boundedness of positive classical solutions for the fully parabolic system over a bounded domain with space dimension $N=1,2$ and for the parabolic- -parabolic-elliptic system over higher space dimensions. Linearized stability analysis shows that prey-taxis stabilizes the positive constant equilibrium if there is no group defense while it destabilizes the equilibrium otherwise. Then we obtain stationary and time-periodic nontrivial solutions of the system that bifurcate from the positive constant equilibrium. Moreover, the stability of these solutions is also analyzed in detail which provides a wave mode selection mechanism of nontrivial patterns for this strongly coupled system. Finally, we perform numerical simulations to illustrate and support our theoretical results.

Abstract:A nonautonomous periodic chemostat model with delays modelling $n$ species in competition is considered. Sufficient conditions on the coefficients and consumption functions for the species are given, for both the extinction of the species and for the existence of $n$ nontrivial and nonnegative periodic solutions. Further criteria guarantee that the system admits at least one strictly positive periodic solution.

Abstract:In this paper, an age-structured predator–prey system with Beddington–DeAngelis (B–D) type functional response, prey refuge and harvesting is investigated, where the predator fertility function f ( a ) and the maturation function are assumed to be piecewise functions related to their maturation period . Firstly, we rewrite the original system as a non-densely defined abstract Cauchy problem and show the existence of solutions. In particular, we discuss the existence and uniqueness of a positive equilibrium of the system. Secondly, we consider the maturation period as a bifurcation parameter and show the existence of Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium by applying the integrated semigroup theory and Hopf bifurcation theorem. Moreover, the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are studied by applying the center manifold theorem and normal form theory. Finally, some numerical simulations are given to illustrate of the theoretical results and a brief discussion is presented.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the spatiotemporal dynamics behaviors of a Leslie–Gower diffusion predator–prey system with prey refuge and Beddington–DeAnglis (B‐D) functional response. By using the Poincaré inequality and topological degree theory, we first investigate the Turing instability of the reaction–diffusion system and prove the existence of nonconstant positive steady‐state solutions. Then we discuss the steady‐state bifurcation and the direction to Hopf bifurcation of the PDE model by the local bifurcation theorem and center manifold theory. Finally, some numerical simulations are presented to supplement the analytic results in one dimension which indicates that changes in prey refuge and diffusion coefficient can increase the complexity of the system.

Abstract:Intraguild predation is added to a mathematical model of competition between two species for a single nutrient with internal storage in the unstirred chemostat. At first, we established the sharp a priori estimates for nonnegative solutions of the system, which assure that all of nonnegative solutions belong to a special cone. The selection of this special cone enables us to apply the topological fixed point theorems in cones to establish the existence of positive solutions. Secondly, existence for positive steady state solutions of intraguild prey and intraguild predator is established in terms of the principal eigenvalues of associated nonlinear eigenvalue problems by means of the degree theory in the special cone. It turns out that positive steady state solutions exist when the associated principal eigenvalues are both negative or both positive.
