Abstract:Objective:To study the clinical significance of leptin and leptin receptor in pathogenesis of endometrial carcinoma.Methods:The immunohistochemical SP method was used to determine the leptin and leptin receptor expression in 60 cases of normal menstrual cycle (including 24 proliferative stage and 36 secretory stage),7 of simple hyperplasia of endometrium,5 of atypical hyperplasia of endometrium,and 23 of endometrial carcinoma.Results:The results revealed that the leptin and leptin receptor expression existed in each kind of samples.①In normal cycle endometrium,the expression of leptin receptor in secretory endometrium was significantly higher than that of in proliferative stage( P 0.01).There was no difference in leptin expression between two stages( P 0.05).②Comparing with secretory endometrium in normal cycle,the expression of leptin and leptin receptor were lower in simple hyperplasia,atypical hyperplasia of endometrium,and endometrial carcinoma( P 0.05 or P 0.01).③Comparing with proliferative endometrium of normal cycles,leptin level was lower in atypical hyperplasia and endometrial carcinoma( P 0.01).④There were no significant differences in the expression of leptin and leptin receptor among endometrial carcinoma,atypical hyperplasia and simple hyperplasia of endometrium( P 0.05).Conclusions:There is certain relationship between the expression of leptin and leptin receptor in endometrium and the pathogenesis of endometrial carcinoma.And the expression of leptin appeared a decreased trend from simple hyperplasia to atypical hyperplasia,and to endometrial carcinoma.
