Influence of VNT High Pressure EGR System on Heavy-duty Diesel Engine Performance

Abstract:Based on a 6‐cylinder heavy‐duty high pressure common rail diesel engine ,the model of high pressure EGR system was established with AVL Boost software and the influences of EGR rate on engine performance and emission in European steady‐state cycle (ESC) were analyzed .The results show that the high pressure EGR system based on variable nozzle turbo‐charger (VNT) can improve NOx emissions in low‐speed and high‐load conditions .With the increase of engine speed ,the influ‐ence of EGR rate on engine performance increases .The appropriate EGR rate can not only reduce the NO x emission obviously , but also improve the engine power and economy performance to some extent .
