Relationship between expression levels of p53, epidermal growth factor receptor, sex determining region Y-box 2 and prognosis of colorectal cancer after operation

Abstract:Objective To analyze the relationship between the expression levelof p53, epidermal growth factorecepto(EGFR), sex determining region Y-box 2 (SOX2) and the prognosiof patientwith colorectal canceaftesurgery.MethodEighty patientwith colorectal canceadmitted into the hospital fosurgery from January 2008 to March 2010 were selected athe experimental group.The patientwere followed up fo1 to 5 yearaftethe surgery.The expression of p53, EGFand SOX2 in colorectal cancetissuewadetermined by immunohistochemical method, and the relationship among the expression of p53, EGFR, SOX2, the tumopathological characteristicand 5-yeasurvival rate of patientwaanalyzed.ResultThe positive expression of p53, EGFand SOX2 wasignificantly correlated with Dukestage, lymph node metastasiand differentiation degree of patient(P ＜ 0.05), bunowith patients' age and gende(P ＞ 0.05).The 5-yeasurvival rate of patientpositive fothe expression of p53, EGFand SOX2 wa32.76％, 24％ and 8.57％ respectively, and thaof patientnegative fothe expression of p53, EGFand SOX2 wa86.36％, 86.67％ and 77.78％ correspondingly, with the difference being statistically significan(P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion p53, EGFand SOX2 are expressed in colorectal cancetissueand positively correlated with Dukestage, lymph node metastasiand differentiation degree of patients, and can be taken athe importanindexeto evaluate the prognosiof colorectal canceafteoperation.
