Abstract:In recent years, cosmetics have shown a positive development due to its own various properties, functionalities and applications. But as we know, microorganisms can cause the decomposition, deterioration and corruption of cosmetics, bringing economic losses. Therefore, commodities with bactericidal and antibacterial effects are attracting more and more people's attention. People found nanoparticles can be used in the cosmetics like sunscreen to have UV protectection and prevent bacteria simultaneously. In this review, it firstly discuss the nanotechnology and different mechanisms of process of sun protection. In main body, it focused on the nano size of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide particles in sunscreen. Then taking a deeply research on their preparation, effectiveness and toxicity, respectively. In nano titanium dioxide part, because of specific functions, the antibacterial property of it is also been shown. Finally, having a summary and expectation of the nano particles in sunscreen.
Preparation of UV-curable Nano-composite Coating by the Sol-Gel Process

Abstract:UV-curable epoxy acrylate (EA) oligomeric resin/SiO2 nanocomposite coating was prepared by the sol-gel process. The effect of EA resin on the sol-gel process was studied. It is found that when EA content is higher than 85%, the so-gel system becomes turbid while EA content is lower than 85%, the system is transparent and homogeneous. It was demonstrated that a no-crack integrated cured film could be obtained via UV curing technique. It was proved that incorporation nano-particles of SiO2 into EA coating can much enhance hardness, adhesion, and impact strength of the EA coating.

Abstract:Nanometer zinc oxide was prepared by solid phase reaction. And the ultraviolet-visible spectral properties of nanometer zinc oxide colloidal solution dispersed in both water and oil phases were studied. The results show that the absorbance of the colloidal solution to ultraviolet light increases with the decrease of wavelength and reaches about 2.5 at the wavelength of 200 nm. When the mass fraction of nanometer zinc oxide becomes lower, the transmittance of the colloidal solution to visible light gets higher, and it is much higher than that of normal zinc oxide under the same conditions, indicating that nanometer zinc oxide dispersed in both water and oil phases has high transmittance to visible light and good shield to ultraviolet light. Therefore it is suitable for the replacement of organic ultraviolet absorber and titanium dioxide in cosmetics.

Abstract:A new method, which includes electroless silver plating on nano Al2O3 powder in formaldehyde-silver-ammonia solution with ultrasonic radiation, was developed for the preparation of Ag-Al2O3 nano-composites powder. Study of the influence of bath composition and plating conditions on silver electroless plating of the nano Al2O3 showed that changing the pH and content of ammonia in the plating bath could control the stability of plating bath and the length of plating inducement period. The gaining in weight and XRD analysis showed that the Ag-Al2O3 nano-composites powder with various content of silver could be prepared by adjusting the dosage of formaldehyde and the loadage of nano Al2O3 powder. TEM image showed that the Ag-Al2O3 nano-composites powder had good uniformity.

Abstract:A novel fabrication method of uniform porous structures on the glass surface is proposed. The hydrofluoric acid fog formed by air-jet atomization etches the glass surface to fabricate nanoporous structure (NPS) on glass surface. This NPS shows the enhanced average light transmittance of approximately 92.9% and the superhydrophilic property with a contact angle less than 1° which presents an excellent anti-fog property. Passivated by fluorosilane, the NPS shows nearly the superhydrophobic property with a contact angle of 141.2°. This fabrication method has shown promising application prospects due to its simplicity, low cost and efficiency, which can be easily applied to large-scale industrial production.

Abstract:Sol-gel process of nanosized TiO-2 was studied.Effect of additives on sol formation was also investigated.The best technical condition for nanosized TiO-2 was described as follows:mass fraction of GXJ2 was 6%,calcination temperature was 600 ℃,calcination time was 2 h.Anti-UV radiation performance and photo-(stability) of nanosized TiO-2 were examined.Satisfactory effect can be gained by using Al-2O-3 as covering agent for surface modifying of nanosized TiO-2.

Abstract:Nanoparticles (nano TiO2, nano SiO2, nano ZnO) are surface modified by silane coupling agent KH-570, the functional nano-modified coatings will be obtained after they are added to fluorocarbon coatings. Transmission election microscopy (TEM) and settlement experiments are used to characterize the effects of modified-nanoparticles. The results show that nanoparticles can be uniformly dispersed in the organic solvent such as toluene. By UV spectrophotometer and the contact angle measuring instrument, the UV absorption of the coating and the surface hydrophobicity of the self-cleaning properties were characterized. The final results illustrate that modified coatings can effectively improve the absorption in the UV band, and the contact angle of the nano-modified coating significantly increased as compared to the unmodified coating. Lastly, the surface hydrophobicity of self-cleaning effect is better.
Preparation and Application of a Kind of Triazine UV-Absorber

Abstract:A kind of triazine UV-Absorber was prepared with the cyanuric chloride,sulfanilic acid and ethylenediamine. Its structure was initially characterized by infrared spectrum and ultraviolet spectrum. The optimal finishing process was investigated by a series of perpendicular experiments,namely,the bath ratio 1∶15,reacting temperature 55℃,sodium sulfate 35g/L,reacting time 20 min,sodium carbonate 20g/L,fixing temperature 80℃ and fixing time 20 min. The performances of the fabric finished with the UV-Absorber were tested and the results showed that it had excellent anti-ultraviolet capability and durability,furthermore,the physical and mechanical performances were changed insignificantly. The anti-ultraviolet index of the finished fabric preserved more than 90% after 50 times laundering. The prepared triazine compound was proved to be an excellent UV-Absorber for cotton fabric.

Abstract:Nano-sized ZnO with small particle size,uniform size distribution and less agglomeration was synthesized by direct precipitation method under ultrasonic radiation with Zn(NO3)2 and anhydrous Na2CO3 as the raw materials,cetrimonium bromide(CTAB) as surface active agent.The product was charactered by TG-DTA,XRD and SEM,then the optimum condition of synthesis was found.Meanwhile,the prepared ZnO nano-particals were modified with oleic acid.The principle of modification was discussed simply by FT-IR method etc.and the effect of modification was analyzed by measuring activation index.

Abstract:This paper introduces the sterilization mechanism of inorganicnanometer antimicrobials such as nanometer ZnO,TiO2,Ag+-composited SiO2 and so on, which have excellent integrative character compared with conventional antimicrobials. The preparation of safe, highly efficient, and broad-spectrum antimicrobial pledget by combining the inorganic nanometer antimicrobial with cotton fibre is significant and has a wide market prospect. We studied the methods of this combination and have successfully prepared nano-antimicrobial-composited pledget, which is effective for restraining the growth of some bacteria.

Abstract:A co-precipitation preparation method and the properties of an ultraviolet (UV)-attenuating agent are described in this paper. The composite particles of ultra-fine zinc oxide and titanium oxide are used to attenuate UV radiation. Preparation of TiOSO4, ZnCl2 solution and the co-precipitation of the composite particles by alkali are included during the process. Various types of surfactants have been used to modify the composite particles. Particle sizes are determined by laser particle analyzer, and reflectance and absorption coefficient are determined by UV-VIS spectrophotometer. Results show that particle size of the composite particles as well as total reflectance and absorption coefficient depend on the surfactants, pH value, and carline temperature. The average sizes of zinc oxide and titanium oxide ultra-fine particles range from39 to 65 nm. Attenuation capability of ultraviolet radiation becomes stronger when the particle average sizes becomes smaller. Composites less than 40 nm with titanium oxide of rutile phase attenuate most effectively the ultraviolet radiation ranging from 280 nm to 390 nm.

Abstract:In order to improve CeO2 ultraviolet absorption performance and transparency, this paper puts forward that different proportions of calcium oxide are doped during the formation of CeO2. Doping calcium ions with larger ion size and lower valence leads to the formation of oxygen defects by inhibiting the precipitation of oxygen from cerium oxide and keeps the fluorite structure of cerium oxide stable. The effects of CaO doping on the crystal structure, morphology, and optical characteristics of CeO2 were analyzed by XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, XPS, UV–vis spectrophotometry. The pH of sunscreen, spread ability and some physical as well as chemical evaluations were carried out, while to study its UV protection performance the sunscreen SPF test was performed. The UV–vis results revealed that CeO2/20%CaO showed highly efficient UV absorption capacity. After adding calcium oxide, the catalytic activity of the material is reduced, due to which the generation of free radicals is demoted, and the harm to human body is decreased. After the addition of 3 wt% nanomaterials into sunscreen, the sun protection factor(SPF )values of pure cerium oxide and CeO2/20%CaO are 1.95 and 2.81, and their sun protection coefficient is increased by 69.39%. Therefore, it is an ideal candidate as a component of ultraviolet screening agent in sunscreens and provides a new idea for the research direction of cerium oxide in anti-ultraviolet applications.

Preparation and UV-light Absorption Property of Oleic Acid Surface Modified ZnO Nanoparticles

Abstract:Syntheses of zince oxide(ZnO) nanoparticles by direct precipitation and surface modification with oleic acid were reported. ZnO nanoparticles were characterized via X-ray diffractometry(XRD), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), infrared spectroscopy(IR) and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The prepared ZnO nanoparticles were nearly spherical and highly crystalline with an average size of 29 nm. In addition, high UV-light absorption properties of oleic acid surface modified ZnO nanoparticles were successfully obtained for a dispersion of ZnO nanoparticles in ethanol.

Abstract:ZnO nanopowder have been prepared by chemistry liquid-phase method with the water soluble polymer and the surfactant as additive in [Zn(OH)(4)](2-) precursor solution. The Character of spectroscopy and microstructure and phase composition was studied by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and UV Vis absorption spectroscopy. The possible influence like reaction time, reaction temperature, reactant ratios and so on was investigated. At the same time, the inorganic granule coring and the crystal growth affected by the water-soluble polymer and the surfactant were discussed. Studies have shown the ZnO nanopowder with the diameter of 50nm has the structure such as the good crystal state and well-defined crystallographic surfaces. The ZnO nanopowder have strong absorption in the UV region with the wavelength of 200 similar to 300 nm.

Abstract:The aluminium isopropoxide was used as raw materials and preparing nano alumina was carried out by sol gel method in the paper. The effects of some parameters such as the amounts of the ethanol, the water and the hydrochloric acid on the efficiency of the reaction and on the size of composite particles were investigated in details. Moreover, the temperature was also discussed as a crucial factor. Based on the orthogonal test, the optimal variables were chosen to synthesize the nano alumina. The adsorption amount of different kinds of surfactants was tested, as well. It has been shown that it would be possible to synthesize nano alumina at 50 degrees C for 3 h, and the optimal mole ratios of the variables were confirmed by orthogonal test. The adsorptions of nonionic surfactant and reactive anionic surfactant were fast, less than 60 min. The adsorption amount of anionic surfactant was more than nonionic, which was due to the surface of nano alumina presenting positive electricity.

Abstract:With the increasingly development and matureness of the ultrasonie technique, there are many tremendous poter and value when the technique can be used into the prepartion of nanosized metal powder. In this paper, the present stams and recent advances of research and the applications of ultrasonic in preparing nanosized metal powder are introduced detailedly. Some preparation methods of nanosized metal powder involving ultrasonic including ultrasonic atomization method, precipitation under ultrasonic method, sonoelectrochemical method, ultrasonic chemical reduction method, ultrasonic Sol-Gel method, ultrasonic microemulsion method, ultrasonic template method are outlined. At the same time, the principles, characteristics and influencing factors of ultrasonic are reviewed. The existing technical problems, as well as the development trend of the above methods are discussed.
