Bushendaozhuo granule in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Bushendaozhuo Granule in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia( BPH). Methods We selected 80 cases of clinically diagnosed BPH patients and randomly assigned them to control group( 35 cases) and treatment group( 45 cases). The control group received doxazosin( Cardura) 4mg every night. The treatment group was given Bushendaozhuo Granule( per 200 mL,2 times everyday). We obtained the International Prostate Symptoms Score( IPSS),Quality of Life( QOL) and recorded the adverse events before and after 4-week treatment. Results All the patients completed the 4 weeks of treatment without any adverse event. In the control group,the IPSS and QOL scores of pre-treatment respectively decreased from( 17. 8 ± 2. 7),( 4. 8 ± 1. 1) to( 16. 1 ±2. 4),( 3. 1 ± 1. 0)( P 0. 05) after treatment. In the treatment group,the IPSS and QOL scores respectively decreased from( 18. 0 ± 2. 8),( 4. 9 ± 1. 2) to( 14. 1 ± 2. 3),( 2. 3 ± 0. 7)( P 0. 05) after treatment. In the control group,the total effective rate was 62. 9% and there were 9 cases of excellence,13 effective cases and 13 ineffective cases. In the treatment group,the total effective rate was 84. 4% and there were 18 cases of excellence,20 effective cases and 7 invalid cases. The curative effect and the total effective rate of the treatment group had an advantage over those of the control group( P 0. 05). Conclusion Bushendaozhuo Granule can rapidly improve IPSS and QOL of BPH patients,which is better than doxazosin. It plays an important role in improving lower urinary tract symptoms and systemic symptoms of BPH patients.
