Abstract:Objective To search for the molecular markers predicting the clinicopathologic features and prognosis of patients with gastric carcinoma(GC). Methods By means of ABC technique, the expression of p53, C-erbB-2, EGFR, nm23 and E-cadherin was detected in 171 cases of GC specimens. Results The deeper the GC cells invasion, the less expression of nm23 and E-cadherin ( P 0.05). The expression of nm23 and E-cadherin was negatively correlated with lymph node metastasis ( P 0.05) and distant metastasis ( P 0.05). The expression of C-erbB-2 and EGFR was correlated positively with distant metastasis ( P 0.05). The diffuse type GC tissue had a higher p53 positive rate than that of the intestinal type GC tissue ( P 0.05) and the GC cells with higher p53 expression could metastasize to lymph nodes easily. The expression of p53 was correlated positively with EGFR ( P 0.05); The expression of C-erbB-2 correlated positively with EGFR ( P 0.05); The expression of nm23 was correlated positively with E-cadherine ( P 0.01). The multivariate Cox regression model indicated that the patients with advanced GC with expression of p53, C-erbB-2 and EGFR had a poor prognosis ( P 0.01), while those with expression of E-cadherin had a good prognosis ( P 0.01).Conclusions It was helpful for predicting the prognosis and giving the assistant treatment of the patients with advanced GC to detect the expression of p53, C-erbB-2, EGFR and E-cadherin in GC tissue. The coordination expression between C-erbB-2 and EGFR had an impact on the development of GC.\;
