Design and Implementation of High Speed Interconnection for Workstation Cluster System

Abstract:Firstly the paper overviews three communication approaches for implementing high speed interconnection of workstation cluster, and proposes a technique called multiple serial links, which provides high bandwidth, low latency and flexibility for interconnection network. The key issue in the design is data synchronization for multiple channels. A set of logic that uses dual ports FIFO to implement data synchronization is introduced. To verify the technique, an interconnection card plugged in PCI bus is implemented, in which an Altera FPGA chip and a pair of GLINK chipset of HP are used. ;;
