Diurnal Variations of WUE for Apple Trees with Different Growth Vigor

Abstract:Tenyeaarold Starkrimson apple trees were used as materials in the experiment.Diurnal variations of water use efficiency (WUE) and relevant parameters for trees with different growth vigor were studied. The main results were as follows: (1)No matter whether adequate water was supplied or not,WUE of robust trees was the highest, vigorous trees the lowest and weak trees in the middle. (2)WUE was increased for vigorous trees and decreased for robust and weak trees under soil drought. (3)For all three kinds of trees,with the reduction of soil water content,photosynthetic rate (Pn) was decreased in the order:weak treesrobust trees vigorous trees.
