Abstract:In this paper we utilize some hybrid rendering techniques combining image-based, point-based and geometry-based technique for the modeling and display of immersive virtual heritage environments (VHEs). This paper also uses a generic computation method of indirect illumination based on Monte Carlo sampling and on the sequential analysis theory, which is faster and more automatic than classical methods.The resulting VHEs aim to realistically recreate archaeological site that can be displayed in a range of immersive VR systems using a high-quality, view-dependent algorithm, the observer can act just like the ancients by interacting with the objects of the scenes. The observers are able to participate to lumber or fish in VHEs. We implement a collaborative system platform based on multi-PC called Multipro, which provide a platform to display immersive application which can be extended to be used in the areas of urban planning/architecture and cultural heritage education. In order to display photo-realistic virtual environment we implement a prototype system which is implemented on the Multipro. In order to enhance realism of the virtual environment, we adopt a view-dependent texture mapping technique to rendering the heritage model, furthermore the interaction and animation also are included into Hemudu virtual scenes, finally the lighting , vegetation rendering and hybrid rendering are addressed for enhancing the sense of realism. Examples of the prototype system in use are described and demonstrated in this paper.

Abstract:The integration of 2D visualization and navigation techniques has reached a state where the potential for improvements is relatively low. With 3D-stereoscopy-compatible technology now commonplace not only in research but also in many households, the need for better 3D visualization and navigation techniques has increased. Nevertheless, for the representation of many abstract data such as networks, 2D visualization remains the primary choice. But often such abstract data is associated with spatial data, thereby increasing the need for combining both 2D and 3D visualization and navigation techniques. Here, we discuss a new hybrid-dimensional approach integrating 2D and 3D (stereoscopic) visualization as well as navigation into a semi-immersive virtual environment. This approach is compared to classical 6DOF navigation techniques. Three scientific as well as educational applications are presented: an educational car model, a plant simulation data exploration, and a cellular model with network exploration, each of these combining spatial with associated abstract data. Abstract:A new solution to designing a multi-perspective three-dimensional virtual urban map was proposed after studying the characteristics, the formation and the present technology of three-dimension maps. A new three- dimension model combined with some real cases was created on Google Sketchup. Google Earth Platform makes map sharing and issuing possible. The display of the geographic data of the same region can increase maps＇ geographic information and enrich map display methods, by which a more effective service can be provided for urban planning and building.

Abstract:Recent advances in Internet and WWW techniques motivate desire for systems with interactive 3D graphics on the Web, which draws attention and effectively assist human understanding with spatial intuitiveness and interactivity. Web-based application with virtual environment walkthrough capability is expected to have a profound impact to the travel based applications, such as virtual e-commerce, online travelling and shopping, just to name a few. However, it is well known that it is extremely difficult to render complex 3D scenes at interactive frame rates through the Web known for their lack of proper ability needed to process large volume of 3D virtual environment data. In order to provide virtual environment navigation on the Web, we propose a hybrid technique which combines both remote geometry rendering and image compression transportation technique. In our approach, the server renders a partial panoramic view, which is based on the user's viewpoint and last movements or sends image from real life. The server then compress images, and streams the images to the client device, which will progressively build the panoramic representation of the scene. Furthermore, in order to enhance streaming performance and quality of the interaction, we propose to use a prediction of the user's movements as well as a rate control mechanism within the virtual scene. In this paper we discuss our scheme for Web-based remote rendering and streaming of progressive panoramas. Our results indicate clearly that the proposed solution is able to achieve stable frame rates and throughput in general network environment.

Abstract:The expression of quick-speed integration formation of DEM and contours under 3D and virtual circumstance is introduced in this paper.First,the realization process of quick-speed generating DEM based on two kinds of algorithms of mobile fitting and mobile weighted average method is discussed.The interpolation of that mobile fitting method replaced by mobile weighted average method can heighten greatly interpolation efficiency in the bizarre area of sampling point.Under 3D visualization environment,the principle and method of DEM and contour integration display is discussed,and the triangle surface string sequence method is discussed in emphasis,too.At last,an actual example is given in the valley harnessing planning application.

Abstract:With the development of 3D display and virtual reality technology, its application gets more and more widespread. This paper applies 3D display technology to the monitoring of submarine pipeline. We reconstruct the submarine pipeline and its surrounding submarine terrain in computer using Horde3D graphics rendering engine on the foundation database "submarine pipeline and relative landforms & landscape synthesis database" so as to display the virtual scene of submarine pipeline based virtual reality and show the relevant data collected from the monitoring of submarine pipeline.

Abstract:This paper introduces a 3D medical visualization system: MedVis Convenient interactionand real time rendering are two important considerations in system design. Two algorithms are developed: 3D texture mapping and Shear-Warp combined volume rendering, and multiresolution isosurface extraction and rendering. The methods are discussed in detail. The requirements on bothsides of real time and assurance was successfully fulfilled in MedVis. It provides an effective tool forthe application and research in medical field.

Abstract:Real-time rendering for large-scale, complex dynamic virtual scenes is a challenging problem in computer graphics. In this paper, we propose a hybrid rendering algorithm of dynamic virtual environments that seamlessly fuses the point-based scheme and polygon-based scheme. In our algorithm, the scene is organized into a BSP-tree. Objects in the leaf-nodes of the BSP tree are further subdivided into a quad-tree hierarchy, which contains both the sample points and polygon rendering information at each level. The accelerated rendering algorithm integrates the hierarchical occlusion map technique, image caching technique and BSP technique to fast render complex dynamic scenes. During navigation, our system adaptively determines the rendering mode and the level of details of objects, and achieves smooth transition between the two rendering modes by effectively controlling the rendering precision. The dynamic objects can be processed in the system uniformly. Our experimental results have demonstrated the satisfactory performance of the proposed hybrid-rendering scheme for the dynamic virtual environments.

Abstract:Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are used to store, manipulate and visualize both spatial and non-spatial data. Because of their data manipulating capabilities, GIS have been recognized as a powerful tool to integrate and analyze data the context of flood management. To provide decision-relevant information supporting planning and management, GIS are integrated with hydrological models for scenario analysis and optimization tasks. However, with the aid of three-dimensional (3D) visualization technology, users can understand the spatial phenomenon deeply. This paper develops a system for regional scale flood prediction and protecting that integrates GIS, hydrological models, and 3D visualization. The well-known HEC models and self-develop models were used to compute flooded areas and estimation flood loss. The 3D virtual environment is accomplished by self-developed 3D graph engine. This approach provides a very useful tool, not only for flood policy formulation and floodplain management but also very appropriate for individual and institutional decision making processes.

Abstract:Spatial hydrological process involves the 3D geospatial and a temporal dimension.The visualization of it is helpful to understand it more correctly and more efficiently.In this paper an approach representing spatial hydrological process dynamically and interactively is developed,using Huangtuling watershed in Zhejiang province as a case area.Our research development involves the following major phases: 1) creation of ground spatial reference,2) 3D display of spatial hydrological process and 3) dynamic and interactive display.In the PC environment,OpenGL functions are called through Visual C++ to realize the dynamic 3D display.OpenGL functions are powerful in 3D modeling and rendering and therefore suitable for presentation of the spatial hydrological process,while the technology of double buffers ensures the continuous display of the temporal changes of spatial hydrological process.The main aspects of the approach such as surface modeling,terrain coloring,normal computation in lighting,water transparency handling,temporal hydrological data processing and interaction parameters inputting,are discussed in details. The system can display realistically the 3D dynamic changes of water continuum at different surface elevations,and the navigation and synchronized animation play important parts in observing,analyzing and comparing spatial hydrological process.

Abstract:Abstract Virtual reality is a kind of computer simulation system which can create virtual environment. People can interact with the three-dimensional environment generated by computer. In this paper, the real-time computer graphics technology, three-dimensional modeling technology and binocular stereo vision technology in virtual reality technology are studied, and the binocular stereo vision optical system is designed. This paper studies the visual communication modeling design of 3D scene under the framework of virtual reality graphics rendering. In this paper, we design and make a three-dimensional model, and develop a virtual indoor scene application. In this paper, the 3D model is used to build the scene, and several commonly used rendering technologies such as texture mapping, material, lighting calculation, transparent effect and shadow calculation in unity engine are used to render the scene. The experimental results show that this method can improve the design efficiency and the accuracy of design matching.

Abstract:When the characters of some components vary,the performance of the hydraulic excavators can be obtained through the hardware-in-the-loop simulation research.The simulation has important significance to the controlling of the entire machine and manipulability research.The 3D real-time visualization platform,based on DirectX SDK and VC++,was developed to realize the 3D real-time kinematics simulation and on-line controlling of the hydraulic excavator.The practical result shows that the well-designed platform is a good solution for the 3D real-time visualization,data analysis of off-line simulation and remote monitoring.
Research on 3D Visualization of Flood Propagation in Three Gorge Reservoir Area

Abstract:The development of a 3D visual simulation system of Three Gorge Reservoir Area was introduced. The method for extracting the section’s control coordinates, based on high resolution and large scale DEM data, was studied. The 3D river was generated with triangular mesh approximation approach, which was integrated with 3D terrain models to form the nesting structure. On the basis of integration between the 3D Virtual simulation platform and 1D hydrodynamic model, a search method for the river border based on the intersection with sections was put forward and the large scale water simulation was achieved by the technology of dynamic texture and the solution to texture coordinate. And then the modules of the query for real time information, the flooding process and mode of manual navigation and auto-navigation were developed. The system makes visual effect of flood routing more natural and can simulate the course of flood routing effectively.

Abstract:With the development of society, the design concept of urban landscape needs to be constantly updated. The lack of functional innovation, service experience, and intelligent management cannot bring urban residents a sense of experience. In modern urban landscape design, the urban public landscape is combined with digital media art, to constantly renew urban image and optimize urban function. However, several methods have been created for the real-time presentation of very vast terrains. Though several of these solutions combined high-quality representation with amazing efficiency, the majority of them are based on the basic concept that the terrain is defined by a constant height map that cannot be changed at run time. These systems usually make considerable use of raw terrain data preprocessing. They are generally intended for peak efficiency. Keeping the above in mind, this paper analyzes the 3D multimedia ecological landscape environment and teaching mode based on digital virtual technology. The purpose of this paper is to apply digital media art as an innovative technical tool and aesthetic thinking in the new era of urban landscape design and to innovate the concept and means of urban landscape design. As a new landscape design method, the application of digital media could make a visual display of the urban landscape. The intervention of virtual reality technology also enhances the interaction and perception of the urban landscape.

Abstract:The technology of 3D geological modeling will bring about great changes in the methods of geological data acquiring, storing, processing and displaying. However, no perfect or convenient software systems have been developed up to now since the geologic data which reflect geological entities bear the feature of diversity, uncertainty and complexity. Some super voxel models, mathematical models of fault and geometrical models of fold have been contrived so as to show the space geometric configuration of the complicated geologic structures. The application-oriented system architecture for 3D geological modeling is established; and a novel design concept based on spatial data processing is also proposed with the technology of solid modeling as its core and the application of models as its objective. Theories and methods for 3D geological modeling will hopefully be enriched and developed. In the light of these theories and methods, a feature-based navigation visualization technique is also put forward in the paper. By integrating geo-database, graphics libraries and KBS with 3D dynamic simulation systems, geologists will be able to capture the partial characteristics and whole structure embodied in the geological data in a direct-viewing, figurative and accurate manner.

Abstract:This paper discusses the necessity and main methods of developing the three-dimensional visual and interactive system. Then the method of combining OpenGL and 3DS MAX is chosen to build the system. System structure, data transmission and interaction were presented with UML. The realization of dynamic model, viewpoint control, real-time display and vanish and other techniques are studied to ensure this system will satisfy the requirements of real-time displaying and testing of the whole CBTC system.

Abstract:With the development and application of information technology, the digitization of information management and the virtualization of physical models have become very important technical application fields in the world. The establishment of the 3D landscape model and the realization of the 3D geographic information system (GIS) are based on this, and there is not only a wide range of development prospects in many aspects such as urban planning and management, planning and design, local government construction, housing industry development, land monitoring and management, and environmental monitoring and evaluation. There are not only research studies and formulations but also a practical significance in other analysis, evaluation, decision making, and other departments. In recent years, the research of 3D city modeling has been developed rapidly, and most of the existing 2D-GIS can be transformed into 3D visual landscape. Based on the three-dimensional geographic information system and desktop drawing software AutoCAD, this paper takes the two-dimensional line drawing (DLG) of a residential district as the base map, expounds the design process of the three-dimensional simulation model of the urban community from the aspects of map preprocessing, building simulation model construction, texture mapping, and virtual visualization, and discusses the problems encountered in it. The main contributions of this paper are that this technology puts forward a new solution for the integrated corridor operation and maintenance management, greatly improves the intelligent management level of the integrated corridor operation and maintenance work, and simplifies the complex integrated corridor operation and maintenance management. It is helpful to improve the work efficiency of operation and maintenance, reduce the dependence of personnel, and respond to the long-term construction needs of the smart city at the same time.
