Clinical Significance of Prostate Apoptosis Response - 4 Mrna in Lymphocytes of Neonates with Hypoxic - Ischemic Encephalopathy

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical significance of prostate apoptosis response-4(Par-4 )mRNA expression levels in lymphocytes of neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).Methods Thirty-seven neonates with HIE were selected,in which light,middle and severe grades were 14,15 and 8 respectively.Eight normal neonates were assigned as control group.Neonates of both groups in 24 hours after their birth were taken peripheral blood out of their femoral vein for lymphocyte isolation.The levels of Par-4 mRNA in lymphocytes were measured by Rt-PCR.Results The Par-4 mRNA expression levels of lymphocytes in light, middle and severe grades were all significant higher than that of controls (P0.01).The Par-4 mRNA expression level of the neonates with severe HIE was highest(F=64.6 P0.01).Conclusions The Par-4 mRNA expression levels increase in neonates with HIE and are correlated with the degree of HIE.Par-4 is a reliable marker for early estimation and the degree of HIE in neonate.
