Water Resistance of Steel/thermoplastic-Resin Interface Adhesion

Abstract:In this work, the water resistance of steel/PE - g- MAH/polyethylene composites in tap water is investigated. Two steel substrates are use to compared the interface adhesion; one without any surface treatment and the other with a phosphation surface treatment. The adhesive is polyethylene grafted with maleic anhydride. The peel test was used to quantify the interface adhesion of the composites. The results showed that a good water resistance is obtained for the phosphation steel/PE - g - MAH/polyethylene composites.
