Employing technique of termite attractive toxicants in the field.

Abstract:In 2003～2004,Employing technique of termite attractive toxicant in the field was investigated in Shizi Hill of Huazhong Agricultural University.The results showed that in the two trial sections of the ground termite gallery means and deadwood-hiding means,the total consumption of attractive toxicants was high and reached 26.78 g and 22.84 g respectively.However,in the three trial sections of the trapping pit means,means of exposure on the earth's surface and trunk-sticking means,the total consumption of attractive toxicants was low and reached 3.62 g,1.47 g and 4.58 g respectively.One month after the end of applying toxicants,in the two trial sections of the ground termite gallery means and deadwood-hiding means,the damaged rate of trees reduced 53.57% and 43.24% than that before the treatment respectively,and there were no fresh termite mud sheets in the ground;Nevertheless,in the three trial sections of the trapping pit means,means of exposure on the earth's surface and trunk-sticking means,the damaged rate of trees increased 16.66%,17.65% and 2.5% than that before the treatment respectively,and there were many fresh termite mud sheets in the ground.Seven months after the end of applying toxicants,in the two trial sections of the ground termite gallery means and deadwood-hiding means,the two nests of Odontotermes formosanus(Shiraki) were dead;whereas,in the three trial sections of the trapping pit means,means of exposure on the earth's surface and trunk-sticking means,the three nests of O.formosanus were healthy.
