Abstract:Objective To study the dynamic changes of subgingival periodontal microflora of the different periods, and to explore the impact of oral hygiene instruction on periodontal microflora in patients with maxillary hollow prosthesis. Methods Test group consisted of ten patients with maxillary hollow prosthesis. And we selected ten periodontal healthy people without any prosthesis as control group. The total number of bacterial colonies and G-bacteria constituent ratio of the gingival sulcus of the abutments were detected, and the differences of them before and after oral hygiene instruction in the two groups were compared. Results Before oral hygiene instruction, the total amount of subgingival culturable bacterial colonies in trial group and control group were 1. 070 4 ± 0. 038 6 and 0. 992 8 ± 0. 052 5 after logarithmic transformation, respectively. And there months after oral hygiene instruction, the bacterial colonies amount were 0. 946 8 ± 0. 050 4 in trial group and 0. 888 0 ± 0. 062 7 in control group. The G-bacteria constituent ratio in trial group changes from( 55. 81 ±5. 21) % before oral hygiene instruction to( 41.56 ±7.62) % after instruction, and that of control group were( 50. 08 ±7. 07) % and( 38. 21 ±7. 58) % before and after instruction, respectively. The number of subgingival bacterial colonies and G-bacteria constituent ratio were lower than that before oral hygiene guidance in both groups( P 0. 05); For the trial group, the number of subgingival bacterial colonies and G-bacteria constituent ratio were higher than that of control group, before and after instruction. Conclusion After oral hygiene instruction, the oral flora survival state of the patients with prosthesis has improved. Oral health guidance can effectively reduce the risk of prosthetic patients suffering from periodontal disease.
