Abstract:This paper deals with the problem of absolute stability and robust stability of a class of neutral systems with sector-bounded nonlinearity and mixed time-varying delays. Some new delay-dependent stability criteria are presented based on Lyapunov stability theory and formulated in terms of strict linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Neither model transformation nor bounding technique for cross terms is required in obtaining the stability conditions. Since both the neutral- and discrete-delays are taken into account, the obtained criterion is less conservative than the previous ones, which is illustrated by numerical examples.

Abstract:Based on the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method and the free weighting matrix method,a delay-range-dependent stability condition is proposed for a class of linear neutral systems with interval time-varying delays.When the derivative of the delay is known,a range-dependent and rate-dependent stability condition is obtained;when the derivative of the delay is unknown,a range-dependent and rate-independent stability condition is obtained.The proposed stability condition is further extended to the neutral systems with norm-bounded uncertainties and a robust delay-range-dependent stability condition is established.As all the conditions are derived in terms of LMIs,it is very convenient to solve them by using the LMI toolbox.Finally,numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed conditions.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the stability of numerical methods for linear neutral Volterra delay-integro-differential system. A sufficient condition such that the system is asymptotically stable is derived. Furthermore, it is proved that every linear @q-method with @q@?(1/2,1] and A-stable BDF method preserve the delay-independent stability of its exact solutions. Finally, the numerical experiments are given to demonstrate the conclusions.

Abstract:Based on the descriptor and ''neutral type'' model transformation, some corresponding Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals are introduced for stability analysis of certain neutral differential equations. Delay-dependent and delay-independent stability criteria are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The proposed criteria are less conservative and restrictive than other existing criteria since they are based on an equivalent neutral model transformation or parameterized transformation. Examples are given to illustrate advantages of our approach.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the stability analysis of linear multistep and Runge–Kutta methods for neutral multidelay-differential-algebraic systems. We focus on the system with no restrictive assumption on the structure of the coefficient matrices. It is shown that under some conditions, A-stable linear multistep methods and A-stable Runge–Kutta methods can preserve the delay-independent stability of the underlying linear systems. Numerical experiments further confirm the theoretical results.

Abstract:A sufficient condition of exponential stability is established for a class of neutral stochastic differential functional equations Markovian jumping parameters. The analysis consist in using Burkholder-Davis-Gundy lemma and Ito's formula derived for our stability purposes. The stability results derived also are applied to a piecewise deterministic system which arises quite often in practice in systems with multiple modes. An application to neutral stochastic differential functional equation is studied to illustrate our theory.

The adaptation of general linear methods is considered. It is proved that A-stable general linear methods can inherit the asymptotic stability of underlying linear systems. Abstract:This paper deals with the asymptotic stability of exact and discrete solutions of neutral multidelay-integro-differential equations. Sufficient conditions are derived that guarantee the asymptotic stability of the exact solutions. Adaptations of classical Runge–Kutta and linear multistep methods are suggested for solving such systems with commensurate delays. Stability criteria are constructed for the asymptotic stability of these numerical methods and compared to the stability criteria derived for the continuous problem. It is found that, under suitable conditions, these two classes of numerical methods retain the stability of the continuous systems. Some numerical examples are given that illustrate the theoretical results.

Abstract:The asymptotic properties of one type of neutral stochastic functional differential equations have been discussed in this paper. By Lyapunov function and semimartingale convergence theorem, some results on its properties such as asymptotic stabilities, polynomial stabilities and exponential stabilities have been given. The conditions need no negative -definite operator of LV,and the beneficial work of stochastic paterbation item on stability has been used well. All the results imply and generalize those conclusions existed in references.

Abstract:The problems of determining the global asymptotic stability and global exponential stability for a class of norm-bounded nonlinear neutral differential systems with constant or time-varying delays are investigated in this work. Lyapunov method was used to derive some useful criteria of the systems’ global asymptotic stability and global exponential stability. The stability conditions are formulated as linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which can be easily solved by various convex optimization algorithms. Moreover, for the exponentially stable system, the exponential convergence rates of the system’s states can be estimated by some parameters of the LMIs. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the application of the proposed method.

Abstract:This study mainly focuses on the stability of a class of linear neutral systems in a critical case, that is, the spectral radius of the principal neutral term (matrix H) is equal to 1. It is difficult to determine the stability of such systems by using existing methods. In this study, a sufficient stability criterion for the critical case is given in terms of the existence of solutions to a linear matrix inequality (LMI). Moreover, it is also shown that the proposed stability criterion conforms with a fact that the considered linear neutral systems are unstable when H has a Jordan block corresponding to the eigenvalue of modulus 1. An illustrative example is presented to determine the stability of a linear neutral system whose principal neutral term H has multiple eigenvalues of modulus 1 without Jordan chains. This is difficult in existing studies.

Abstract:This paper mainly considers the stability analysis and control of linear neutral systems with multiple time-delays. Using the method of semi-discretization, we can analyze the stability of linear neutral systems described by ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Method of semi-discretization provides us with an effective way to obtain an arbitrary linear neutral system's transition matrices, which can be multiplied together to get the mapping matrix. By comparing the maximum eigenvalue of the mapping matrix with 1, we can conclude whether this system is asymptotically stable. Furthermore, this method can also be used to minimize the maximum eigenvalue, and optimal control gains for linear neutral systems are obtained simultaneously. Several numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of this method.

Abstract:SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, Volume 62, Issue 2, Page 924-952, April 2024. This paper provides some sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness and the stochastic stability of the global solution for nonlinear neutral stochastic functional differential equations. When the drift term and the diffusion term satisfy a locally Lipschitz condition, and the Lyapunov monotonicity condition has a sign-changed time-varying coefficient, the existence and uniqueness of the global solution for such equations will be studied by using the Lyapunov–Krasovskii function approach and the theory of stochastic analysis. The stability in [math]th-moment, the asymptotical stability in [math]th-moment, and the exponential stability in [math]th-moment will be investigated. Different characterizations for these three kinds of stochastic stability in moment will be established, which are presented with respect to integration conditions. These results have seldom been reported in the existing literature. The almost surely exponential stability for the global solution of such equations is also discussed. Some discussions and comparisons are provided. Two examples are given to check the effectiveness of the theoretical results obtained.

Abstract:This paper deals with exponential stability of both analytic and numerical solutions to nonlinear impulsive differential equations. Instead of Lyapunov functions a new technique is used in the analysis. A sufficient condition is given under which the analytic solution is exponential asymptotically stable. The numerical solutions are calculated by Runge–Kutta methods and the corresponding stability properties are studied. It is proved that algebraically stable Runge–Kutta methods satisfying |1−bTA−1e|<1 can preserve the stability of the equation. Finally some numerical experiments are given to illustrate the conclusion.
