Abstract:A real-time video transmission algorithm using double dynamic buffers and double operation threads based on TCP protocol is proposed according to the characteristics of video stream and real-time surveillance applications. One video data buffer and one data sending buffer, which are managed respectively by one video data storing thread and one data sending thread, are set up in the transmitter. The video data storing thread dynamicaliy adjusts the video data buffer size and discards some video frames selectively during network congestion according to the maximal time waiting for sending and the network data transmission speed calculated actually in the data sending thread. The data sending thread sends vid- eo data to receiver and obtains video data one frame by one frame from the video data buffer, and calculates the network real-time data transmission speed. The experiment in simulated environment is given at last. The results show that the proposed algorithm is able to utilize network variable bandwidth in the greatest extent for transmitting video to receiver by real-time and ensures to play back smoothly in receiver, and can be applied effectively for real-time video surveillance in narrow and variable bandwidth networks.

Abstract:Air-gapped networks achieve security by using physical isolation to keep the computers and network from the Internet. However, magnetic covert channels based on CPU utilization have been proposed to help secret data to exfiltrate from the Faraday-cage and the air gap. Despite the success of such covert channels, they suffer from the high risk of being detected by the transmitter computer and the challenge of installing malware into such a computer. In this paper, we propose MagView++ , where sensitive information is embedded in other data such as video and can be transmitted over the internal network. When any computer uses the data such as playing the video, the sensitive information will leak through the magnetic signals. The “separation” of information embedding and leaking, combined with the fact that the data can be exfiltrated from any computer in a distributed manner, overcomes these limitations. We demonstrate that CPU utilization for video decoding can be effectively controlled by changing the video frame type, reducing the quantization parameter, and changing the timestamp of the frame, without video quality degradation. We prototype MagView++ and achieve 8.9 bps throughput with 0.0057 BER when using a smartphone as the receiver, and 59 bps throughput with 0.0025 BER when using a dedicated devices with high sampling rate as the receiver. Experiments under various environments are conducted to show the robustness of MagView++ . Limitations and possible countermeasures are also discussed.

Abstract:A novel CCD high speed videography system with brand-new concepts and techniques is developed by Zhejiang University recently. The system can send a series of short flash pulses to the moving object. All of the parameters, such as flash numbers, flash durations, flash intervals, flash intensities and flash colors, can be controlled according to needs by the computer. A series of moving object images frozen by flash pulses, carried information of moving object, are recorded by a CCD video camera, and result images are sent to a computer to be frozen, recognized and processed with special hardwares and softwares. Obtained parameters can be displayed, output as remote controlling signals or written into CD. The highest videography frequency is 30,000 images per second. The shortest image freezing time is several microseconds.The system has been applied to wide fields of energy,chemistry,medicine, biological engineering, aero-dynamics, explosion, multi-phase flow, mechanics,vibration,athletic training,weapon development and national defence engineering. It can also be used in production streamline to carry out the online, real-time monitoring and controlling.

Abstract:In this paper,a new scheme for data-collecting transmissive system is proposed.It consists of hardware and software.In the hardware,which is mainly maken up of S3C2410 microprocessor and CS8900A chip,data can be collected and transmitted to the remote server through the ethernet.In the software,which is based on μC /OS-Ⅱ real operating system and data encryption processing,the data transmission with the high performance,stability,timeliness and security is ensured and the intelligent online monitoring is realized.It has been shown that the system has high reliability,strong timeliness and good security through some applications.

Abstract:A method through caching data by SRAM with FIFO function and higher priority for write had been proposed.The problem of the large format linear CCD scanner ' s image distortion caused by USB transmission had been solved.The first high-speed linear CCD large format scanners had been domestically produced.The basic principle of this method is that a large buffer added before the USB transmission module makes sure the data from linear CCD sensor be reserved completely when the USB transmission suspended.The practical application results show that after treated,the image distortion doesn ' t appear in 600 DPI(dot/inch)resolution,and 1 200 Hz line frequency,and USB transmission rate reaches 256 Mbit/s.To the best of our knowledge,the method has not been reported from domestic and foreign literature.

Abstract:Recently, Wu and Shu proposed an intriguing technique that transmits data from regular information display devices to smart phone cameras without using any additional hardware or interfering the original content intended to display. This preliminary work reveals the possibility of conducting highspeed data transmission with displays in transparency to human eyes; however, in practice, it could introduce visible artifacts and the display-camera synchronization remains an issue that affects data throughput. In this paper, we examine this technique in more realistic application scenarios and put forward a practical solution that hides the data more effectively and greatly improves the robustness of the transmission. Experimental results show that, using the proposed solution, viewers can hardly notice any artifacts caused by the data embedded in videos, and the bit error rate is acceptable under common use conditions.

Abstract:Closed circuit television monitor system is widely applied in living and working.But in some environments,closed circuit television monitor system can not be realized due to the limitation of the cost and landform.The development of wireless web products and the maturation of video compression standard provide a good solution for this condition.The paper introduces the basic realization theory of Video Compress(H.264) and the form of software system,dissertates RTP protocol and the protocol implementation in the system.On the foundation of these methods,the paper offers a sort of RTP protocol design of microwave video surveillance system,and obtains perfect effects.

Abstract:To solve the problem of wideband video signal remote and insusceptible transmission in the airborne environment effectively, a method based on optical fiber communication technology is proposed. Firstly, all the function modules of optical fiber transmitter are analyzed; secondly, the design process of each module circuit including parameter calculation is given out. Furthermore, to deal with the issues that displaying signals cannot be configured automatically after optical fiber transmission, a conception called Virtual Display Data Channel (VDDC) is established. Finally, the feasibility and validity of this design is demonstrated in actual testing status.
VideoBack: High Quality Video Backscatter with Ambient WiFi

Abstract:Recent works have achieved considerable success in increasing the transmission rate of video streaming backscatter communications. However, they do not consider the ease of deployment in real-world environments where these dedicated excitations are not readily available. In addition, these works are transmitted with lower image resolution, and the images received by users are not eye-friendly. In this paper, we propose VideoBack, a high quality video backscatter system with commercial WiFi excitation for easy-to-use monitoring. The key idea is to perform JPEG compression on high-pixel images to adapt to intermittent ambient WiFi transmission. This approach allows ambient commercial routers to be used for excitation. Furthermore, our work enables high-quality video transmissions by devising a low bit error rate decoding scheme. We build a prototype of VideoBack and use a commercial WiFi adapter to excite the tag to realize the transmission and reception of video. The prototype uses RF signals to charge and store energy. Our evaluations show that VideoBack can transmit images at a throughput of nearly 250 kbps with bit error rate below 0.0005 within 9 meters, while the images only have minor distinctions. VideoBack can support sending one frame of image after just 2 seconds of power acquisition within 3m.

Abstract:The wide use of portable digital video devices makes it hard to transmit large-sized and high-resolution images under wireless conditions. This paper designs and realizes a technique,which is suitable for portable digital video devices,for transmitting medium- and large-sized high-resolution images based on DWT transform and the embedded bit stream technology,and then transfer clear and appointed picture rapidly under low-bandwidth conditions. Experiments show that it has better flexibility in picture encoding and transmission under the wireless environment. The system we presented can support long-distance transmission services strongly and can improve the rapid response ability in unreliable wireless channels, so it can solve the matter of real-time interaction with each other.

Abstract:This paper introduced a camera surveillance system in wireless communications. The system contains three major modules, PTU (pan-tilt unit) camera control for surveillance video capture, cross-layer control for data compression and transmission, and error concealment for video quality enhancement. Our contribution is twofold. First, a system design for data collection and transmission over wireless networks is presented and is evaluated with physical surveillance equipments. The camera is capable of following the moving target according to the control information. The end-to-end distortion estimation in the delay constrained video coding process takes into account the dynamic channel condition and physical layer modulation and coding scheme (MCS) to determine optimal coding and transmission parameters. Second, multiple error concealment strategies, including interleaving, boundary match and video up-sampling, are applied utilizing the special property of the PTU camera motion.

Abstract:Focusing on the image acquisition of OV6920-based capsule endoscopy,the study on the design of wireless image transmission and storage system of capsule endoscope is widely carried out in both aspects of hardware and software.It is aimed to develop a wireless image transmission system and a computer terminal image storage software on VC++ development platform with the DirectShow interface technology.The software realized real-time monitoring of image collected by capsule and successfully saved video image in AVI format.It support reading video files in multiple formats and can capture,preview as well as edit doubtful image.The software also support printer and some related image processing.

Abstract:Limited by the characteristics of underwater acoustic channels, the video transmission applications targeting deep-sea detection and operation tasks are facing severe challenges such as network failure and high delay, resulting in loss of video details, color distortion, blurring, and even bit errors, which seriously affect decoding quality of the video transmission and reception. In order to solve the problems of deep-sea long-distance wireless communication, this paper proposes an improved Wyner-Ziv coding scheme (UnderWater-WZ) for video transmission through acoustic channels. The implementation process includes controlling error range by using MJPEG coding, combining motion compensation time interpolation with calibration information to generate high-quality side information. And intraframe quantization matrix is designed to weaken the change of video scene. The experimental results show that under the highest packet loss rate of 20%, this scheme can achieve 2.6~3.5 dB improvements in terms of video reconstruction compared to the previous methods, which is close to the error-free level.

Abstract:Optical wireless video transmission technology combines the advantages of high data rates, enhanced security, large bandwidth capacity, and strong anti-interference capabilities inherent in optical communication, establishing it as a pivotal technology in contemporary data transmission networks. However, video data comprises a large volume of image information, resulting in substantial data flow with significant redundant bits. To address this, we propose an adaptive block sampling compressive sensing algorithm that overcomes the limitations of sampling inflexibility in traditional compressive sensing, which often leads to either redundant or insufficient local sampling. This method significantly reduces the presence of redundant bits in video images. First, the sampling mechanism of the block-based compressive sensing algorithm was optimized. Subsequently, a wireless optical video transmission experimental system was developed using a Field-Programmable Gate Array chip. Finally, experiments were conducted to evaluate the transmission of video optical signals. The results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm improves the peak signal-to-noise ratio by over 3 dB compared to other algorithms, with an enhancement exceeding 1.5 dB even in field tests, thereby significantly optimizing video transmission quality. This research contributes essential technical insights for the enhancement of wireless optical video transmission performance.

Abstract:A real-time image compression method based on field programmable gate array is proposed for the problem of high-frame-rate high-resolution camera image transmission under the limited bandwidth of universal serial bus (USB). This method quantizes image pixels on a per-row basis, taking advantage of the high correlation between adjacent pixels within a row, thus reducing the data volume of a single frame image transmission. The algorithm also aims to minimize the decoding complexity on the central processor of the receiving end. Corresponding hardware circuits and software programs are designed, and tests are conducted on an experimental platform. The experimental results show that this method effectively compresses image data losslessly on the board, improves the transmission frame rate. The maximum frame rate of images tested in a USB 2.0 environment can reach 25.58 fps, an improvement of 11.67 fps compared to the original data transfer, with a compression rate of up to 55.8%. Furthermore, this method outperforms PNG decoding in terms of decoding speed, supports multi-core decoding, and achieves the highest decoding speed of 61fps when tested on the image with 16 threads. This method provides a feasible transfer solution for real-time compressed transmission of high-speed and high-definition cameras in the industrial field.
