Abstract:On the basis of the implementation of two layers of transparent SAN systems, a backup model has been proposed. This backup model is mathematically validated to comply with quasi order. Furthermore, the optimization and implementation of the algorithm are accomplished. According to the practical application, it is revealed that this backup model is to some extent superior to traditional models.

Abstract:A heterogeneous data sharing system for Storage Area Network (SAN) is presented. A method for dynamically (creating) the mapping relationship among metadata server is suggested, which shared disks and their storage paths. Third-party data transfer in our system is based on the mapping relationship. More advanced functions such as multiple paths failover (and load) balance are also implemented by extending the mapping relationship. Because the mapping relationship is created (dynamically,) the whole system can scale well.

Abstract:With the development of network and the rapid growth of data size,it becomes more and more important to share the data storage effectively.The paper analyses the shortages of traditional SCSI storage and NAS storage,and the advantages of SAN storage method,then designs a new net storage shared system based on SAN architecture.The new system is easy to management and convenient to share,and overcomes the shortages of limited storage capacity of SCSI and NAS.It also overcomes the influence of network bandwidth,we think it is a storage system.with good foreground.

Abstract:We present a new SAN architecture by introducing the advantage of clustering technology into traditional SAN system, and discuss the implement of this system. Furthermore, a mathematical model and the corresponding algorithm are developed for representing related backup task. A scheduling algorithm is also developed on the basis of the quasi ordering for related backup task in timing submittal. Experiment results show that this algorithm can improve the performance of scheduling and executing related backup tasks.

Abstract:This article gives a design method of the software system which can manage kinds of storage resource using different protocals in IP-SAN. This method is to devide whole IP-SAN storage management system to two layers.The upper layer is called IP-SAN management system, which can manage all storage resources of enterprises or organizations with centralized way, and the low layer is callled SAN storage management system, which can manage the storage resource using the same protocal. This layer supplies many interfaces for the upper layer, then IP-SAN management system can realize its function through these interfaces. This article emphasizes on the low layer.

Abstract:To satisfy the new demands of network-storage in digital library,the interconnection technology of Network-Storage for traditional DAS,NAS and advanced SAN,and the differences between them were analyzed and compared. The redundant technology of the SAN construction and its main performance index system were analyzed based on system reliable theory,and the superiority of the multi-links parallel exchange technology for SAN was given. According to above works,a twin-tower type of network-storage on SAN was designed and realized in the library of Central South University. The runs for 2 years show that the frame has the advantages of response speed,system safety and capacity over traditional DAS and NAS.

Abstract:The access speed of tape has become one of the main bottlenecks in backup work, because tape backup systems are used quite widely. This paper describes the design and implementation of a Virtual Tape System (VTS) based on the Storage Area Network (SAN), and proposes a tape virtualization technology implemented on the SCSI command level. The system controls the SCSI command stream transferred in the SAN precisely. By transforming the SCSI sequential commands for the tape device into the SCSI block commands for the cache disk, the system makes the cache disk appear and function just like a traditional tape library. Hence, the VTS speeds up the backup process, and reduces the backup window. In addition, the VTS is transparent to users, and has broad compatibility with multiple operating systems and various kinds of backup software. When adopting the virtual tape as the primary backup device, the performance lost is less than 2% compared to backups that use the physical disk as the primary backup device. Another testing result showed that the VTS meets the requirements of backup under a SAN environment and supports multiple backup software and operating systems.

Abstract:If the operation can not be interrupted in a system,the hot backup would be a effective backup method.To the traditional hot backup system,the backup document is large and it is difficult to transport it to other computer through the network.In order to improve it,the author implemented an incremental hot backup system.When a block of data is changes,the information of the location and the content of the amending point would be written in a backup file,then the backup file can be transported through the network.When it is necessary to restore data,based on the results of the cold,the data would be restored correctly using the backup files.Thus the backup would be performed safely without interrupting the operation of the system.

Abstract:The article gives the method of implement and the critical technologies of how to implement FC SAN storage system based on standard open hardwares. Firstly, it specifies architecture and I/O path of the FC SAN storage system. Secondly, it demonstrates how to implement the FC interface card s target driver and I/O process, and the SCSI command process procedure of SAN storage system.
