Abstract:Objective To investigate factors influencing medical compliance in patients on anti-hypertensive therapy sp as to provide evidence for improving medical compliance in such patients Methods A questionnaire investigation was conducted of general conditions and medical compliance in 211 patients with essential hypertension who were on anti-hypertensive therapy. Results The rate of good medical compliance was 31. 75% in 211 patients. Simple-variable analysis identified age, level of education, number of associated diseases, home. availability of the sphygmomanometer, number of ambulatory treatment, and actual number of drug therapy as significant factors influencing compliance of anti-hypertensive therapy. The logistic regression analysis showed that the number of associated diseases and ambulatory treatment were two independent and significant factors influencing medical compliance. Conclusion Patients with low level hypertension and patients with minimal symptoms are risk populations for poor medical compliance. Increasing the number of ambulatory follow-up is an effective means of improving medical compliance in such patients.
