Abstract:Appreciation of piano art, as a public elective and general educational course for all undergraduates in comprehensive universities, aims to enhance all-round appreciation level for students, help them build confidence and team spirit, and keep the forever passion for music, art and life as well. In my teaching for students who come from different colleges with different majors, I hope that I can interpret piano, human and passion through the knowledge and the way of thinking which they got from their professional learning. Moreover, I hope this course is able to provide them with some inspiration. This article is going to explore the reform on interdisciplinary thinking during the teaching of Appreciation of piano art, in terms of piano and architecture, piano and machinery, and piano and language.

Abstract:With the continuous development of society, higher requirements have been put forward for the quality of talents. As modern parents generally pay attention to their children's comprehensive quality and ability cultivation, they enable their children to fully develop in sports, art, music and other aspects from the preschool stage. In the face of the current changes and transformations in preschool education, students majoring in preschool education must master various artistic skills mentioned above in the daily learning process, so as to ensure that they can better adapt to the development needs of preschool education in the new era after graduation and be competent for modern preschool education work. However, in the process of piano teaching in preschool education, teachers often adopt the traditional mode, which makes students have poor learning enthusiasm and are not active in learning. Abstract:Background and Aim: Qingdao Art School is implementing a holistic piano education approach, combining traditional and modern techniques to prepare students for the evolving musical world and develop diverse skills. Materials and Methods: This study aimed to survey teacher’s perspectives on piano teaching strategies at Qingdao Art School. This study used qualitative research methodology, including semi-structured interviews with piano teachers at Qingdao Art School, to understand their teaching methods. Key areas of focus included pedagogical approaches, experiences with different strategies, challenges faced, and perspectives on effectiveness. The interview guideline was used to gather in-depth insights, with eight questions posed to experts. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, with essential analysis steps including thematic coding, theme grouping, direct interpretation, and data presentation. Results: The text provides a comprehensive guide to teaching music theory, focusing on various pedagogical approaches. It suggests blended learning, collaborative projects, improvisational techniques, diverse musical genres, and gamification for accessibility. Challenges in teaching include adaptive teaching strategies, personalized music selection, practice routines, classroom community building, and integrating new technologies. Methods are promoted through active learning, digital resources, and flexible scheduling. Technology integration is highlighted, with music software, virtual performances, and AR/VR tools. Professional development opportunities are discussed, and student engagement and motivation are discussed. Evaluation and feedback are also discussed, considering technical skills and musical expression. Conclusion: The text offers a comprehensive guide to teaching music theory, highlighting various pedagogical approaches and challenges, while promoting active learning, digital resources, and technology integration.

Abstract:There is a rich variety of piano enlightenment teaching materials on the market, in the practice of kindergarten student piano enlightenment teaching, the author has used: China's earliest published children's enlightenment tutorial "Children's Piano Preliminary Tutorial", compiled by the older generation of pianists Sheng Jianyi and others; the earliest into China, the widest spread area of foreign piano enlightenment teaching materials "John Thompson Easy Piano Course" and the applied piano pedagogy of "Play the children's songs, learn the accompaniment". Through teaching practice, it is found that the education of applied piano is more suitable for modern children, which is a teaching method in line with kindergarten student's cognitive rules and psychological characteristics. Kindergarten students are very fond of playing and singing familiar songs at any time through learning so that students can learn the piano in happiness.

Abstract:This paper elaborates the relationship between the piano artistic direction and vocal teaching, and focus on the analysis and discussion of the role that the piano vocal art direction plays in different genres, as well as on the trial exploration the role on the piano vocal psychology that piano artistic direction takes. Through in-depth study of the piano artistic direction of vocal music teaching in all aspects, this paper points out the important role that piano artistic direction plays on the piano disciplines construction in the development process of Chinese music education. Abstract:The piano is one of the most popular musical instruments among children. Playing the piano requires some effort from both children and teachers. At the same time, life puts forward new requirements for mastering advanced teaching methods that can provide maximum results. Piano teachers are faced with the task of making learning as meaningful, interesting, and personality-oriented as possible. With this in mind, the issues of finding, developing and implementing alternative forms and methods of organizing training, new advanced pedagogical ideas, as well as the latest educational technologies in the process of learning to play the piano are considered important. After all, technological progress does not stand still. Modern technologies are developing so actively that literally everyone has new products that seemed inaccessible yesterday. Therefore, the task of a modern teacher is to constantly monitor the emergence of new forms, methods of work, new technologies and effective means to maximize the stimulation of creative activity of students. Using the achievements of Advanced Science and technology significantly helps not only to activate students ' attention, but also to achieve significantly better learning outcomes. After all, modern children are the so – called "digital generation", brought up from childhood on free access to digital technologies of our time. This tendency to constantly technize our lives has both positive and negative aspects, but we cannot avoid it. Therefore, it is necessary to find the optimal balance in the use of modern technologies, the latest teaching methods and musical and game activities in the process of learning to play the piano. Modern innovations are designed to form the desire of piano students for independent learning, ideally-lifelong learning. They ensure the creation of a learning environment in which the child learns without compulsion, with great pleasure, guaranteed to learn the necessary amount of knowledge and provided that theory is constantly connected with practice.

Abstract:With the continuous deepening of the new curriculum reform in the field of higher education in our country, the piano impromptu accompaniment course has an increasing influence on students. In the current piano impromptu accompaniment course, teachers are influenced by many traditional concepts of music course education. Teachers mainly focus on singing and personal practice in the teaching process. In terms of teaching content, the selection of repertoire for students is relatively fixed and outdated, which causes students to feel monotonous, and reduces the quality of learning the piano impromptu accompaniment courses. That being said, this article thoroughly explores the construction and utilization of network resources in the process of piano improvisation, in order to improve the quality of education and teaching of piano impromptu courses in colleges and universities, and provide some valuable references for promoting the overall development of students.

The role of piano improvisation in teaching harmony, using combined materials selected from the baroque period and jazz standard repertoire : towards a comprehensive approach

ISBN: 978-951-39-6149-7 (PDF) Harmony teaching traditionally follows separate paths in mainstream classical and jazz tertiary music education, based on the distinctive stylistic features and idioms developed in different eras. Nevertheless, these genres do share a variety of common features, and the goal of this research was to identify and integrate particular elements of musical practice in order to advance combined harmony teaching of baroque and jazz styles. The main aim of the research was to explore the applicability of piano improvisation as a potential pedagogical tool in the combined teaching of baroque and jazz harmony and to investigate in what ways it supports the development of harmony knowledge and various musical skills. Following the action research strategy, the research was conducted in two cycles, and data were collected in two subsequent teaching courses with Finnish university students. Qualitative research methodology was applied to analyse the data from both research cycles. Study One functioned as a pilot study involving seven students and examined what kind of approaches the students and the teacher found the most applicable in combined harmony teaching. Data concerning students’ previous experiences and the progress and challenges to learning harmony during the course were gathered from questionnaires, learning diaries, video recordings, and harmony tests for comparative analysis with the researcher’s observations. Findings showed that the practical approaches i.e. improvisation, composing variations, and aural learning using existing musical examples were particularly successful in such combined teaching of harmony. Study Two investigated the applicability of piano improvisation as a teaching tool in combined harmony teaching, with nine students divided in two groups employing improvisation at different parts of the course. Harmony tests measured the development in students’ harmony knowledge and aural skills. Audio recordings of improvisation tests measured the students’ improvisation skills, with and without peer accompaniment. The observations supported by video recordings of the lessons examined the students’ overall learning progress and development of musical skills. The students also expressed their opinions about learning harmony with and without improvisation via questionnaires. All data were analysed separately in each student’s case and were presented as a chronological narrative of each student’s learning progress, and conclusions were drawn from each case. The results showed that improvisation, especially with peers, positively influenced the students’ theoretical and practical knowledge of both baroque and jazz harmony and their aural skills. However, students’ existing knowledge of harmony in each genre; the starting level of their aural, improvisation, and piano skills; and the timing of the improvisation during the course also influenced the learning progress. Improvisation appeared to be more applicable to learning harmony once a certain amount of theoretical knowledge and aural and piano skills were first established. Abstract:В последние десятилетия в западной культуре заметны изменения в подходах к обучению игре на фортепиано. В то время как классическая европейская школа придерживается строгих канонов, современные преподаватели из Северной Америки стремятся к более гибким и индивидуализированным методикам. Цель данного исследования состоит в сравнительном анализе основных методологий обучения фортепиано в классической Европе и современных США с точки зрения их преимуществ и недостатков. Материалами исследования послужили учебные программы и методические пособия по фортепиано ведущих консерваторий и музыкальных учебных заведений Европы и Северной Америки. Также был проведён анализ видеозаписей уроков фортепиано различных педагогов. В результате исследования выявлены основные подходы к обучению фортепиано в классической европейской и современной американской школах. Показаны преимущества и недостатки каждой методики, а также возможности их интеграции в современной практике обучения игре на фортепиано. Таким образом, данное исследование имеет важное теоретическое и практическое значение для совершенствования методики обучения игре на фортепиано с учётом лучших мировых достижений и индивидуальных особенностей учащихся. В дальнейшем целесообразны более детальные изучение вопроса на больших выборках и экспериментальная проверка предлагаемых инновационных подходов. In recent decades, Western culture has seen significant changes in approaches to teaching the piano. While the classical European school adheres to strict canons, modern teachers from North America strive for more flexible and individualized methods. The purpose of this study is to provide a comparative analysis of the main piano teaching methodologies in classical Europe and the modern United States in terms of their advantages and disadvantages. The research materials included curriculum and teaching aids for piano at leading conservatories and music schools in Europe and North America. An analysis of video recordings of piano lessons from various teachers was also carried out. As a result of the study, the main approaches to teaching piano in classical European and modern American schools were identified. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are shown, as well as the possibilities of their integration in modern practice of teaching piano. Thus, this study has important theoretical and practical significance for improving methods of teaching piano, taking into account the best world achievements and individual characteristics of students. In the future, it would be advisable to study the issue in more detail using large samples and experimentally test the proposed innovative approaches.

This paper discusses the performance and teaching practice of piano works in Inner Mongolia, and analyzes the development of piano education and teaching in Inner Mongolia.
