Abstract:This experiment was designed to investigate effect of 42 ℃ acute heat stress on physiological indexes. Everyone of thirty 25-day-old male AA broilers was put randomly into a 42 ℃ small chamber. In the period of the experiment, femoral artery pressure (FAP) of broiler chickens, and so on, was examined continuously. The results were as follows. The mean femoral artery pressure (mFAP) decreased significantly at minute 10 ( P0.05 ) and from minute 15 to 50 ( P0.01 ) post-exposure to heat stress. The (increasing) maximum rate of femoral artery systolic pressure (FASP, |+d p /d t _(max) |) increased significantly at minute 30( P0.01 ), and decreased significantly at minute 50 ( P0.01 )post-exposure to heatstress. The increasing maximum rate of femoral artery diastolic pressure (FADP, |-d p /d t _(max)|) increased significantly at minute 20( P0.01 ), and decreased significantly at minute 40( P0.05 ) and 50 ( P0.01 )post-(exposure) to heat stress. The mFAP had significant correlation with respiration rate ( r =0.464, n=45,(P0.01) )and heart rate ( r =0.470, n=45, P0.01 ) respectively, and had significant negative correlation with rectal temperature( r =-0.790, n=45,P0.01 ). It was concluded from the above-mentioned results that the significant decrease of FAP during the acute 42 ℃ heat stress may be one of major reasons of death of the broilers.
