Skills and behaviors of hand-washing, coughing, and spitting in floating population in Chaoyang District of Beijing

Abstract:Objective To investigate the status of skills and behaviors of hand-washing,coughing and spitting in floating population in Chaoyang District of Beijing. Methods A multi-stage stratified random cluster sampling method was used,and 1 498 floating persons aged 16-69 years were selected. And the skills and behaviors of hand-washing,coughing and spitting were surveyed. Results The rate of the participants who held correct hand-washing skill was 26. 37%.42. 52% of the participants washed hand before eating and after using the toilet every time,and its influencing factors included gender,education level,vocation,and the skill of hand-washing. The rates of the participants who had correct coughing and spitting behaviors were 31. 84% and 60. 08%,respectively. And the influencing factors of correct coughing behavior included gender,education level,marriage status,and vocation; the influencing factors of correct spitting behaviors included gender,age,education level,and vocation. Conclusions Shortage of heath skills and behaviors exists in floating population. Efforts of special steps of health education should be made on the groups of floating population.
