Abstract:Agents increase capabilities and receive more repayment via coalition in multi-agent system. This paper focuses on the improvement of coalition model and coalition formation, and proposes a new coalition model CLAR (coalition model based on learning agent and role), which is based on ARG (agent, role, group) meta model and learning mechanism. It also proposes a two phrase coalition formation mechanism in CLAR model that adopts contract net as its protocol. Finally, the experimental results verify the effect of the role and learning mechanism in predator game, and the effect of two-phrase coalition formation in decreasing and controlling the communication cost.

Abstract:To meet the clients' requirements, a collaborative commerce system including the exterior trade and interior production is built based on the multi-agent system, which is based on agent technology. The system optimizes the business affairs by the bid organization based on the bulletin board technology, and decomposes the requirements effectively by the shortest paths. The mutually logical coupling relations between the requirements are illustrated to form the coordination mechanism of competition and cooperation.

Abstract:CORE,a trust model is proposed to solve agent coalition formation problem in multi-agent counter environment. The model characterizes an agent's trust from two aspects of competence and reputation. The Euclidean distance formula of vector space on competence field is used to measure the extent which an agent fits for a particular task,and the membership function is used to characterize an agent's reputation. At the begin of the task,the model selects appropriate agents to form a coalition according to their trust value;in the middle of the task,the agent's competence gains and reputation updates;after completing the task,the model can renovate every agent's trust according to their behavior during the coalition,which is viewed as an evidence for next task. Finally,the model is carried out by programming on the NetLogo software.

Abstract:In this paper, a self organized multi agent system for auto mobile robot (MAS4AMR) is described. The MAS4AMR enables the mobile robot to make corresponding driving action according to the always changing environment and make reaction to emergency condition. The MAS4AMR incorporate a communication middleware and a set of event-driven Agents, which enables the robot to initiate actions adaptively to the dynamical changes in the environment. The MAS4AMR is discussed in detail in this paper, and the simulation results are also presented.

Abstract:The application of multi-agent technology in manufacturing is a research focus. CSCW and CORBA,two related technologies of multi-agent technology, are discussed firstly. This paper gives a survey of multi-agent technology for holonic manufacturing system, supply chain management, virtual enterprise, robot, process planning system, scheduling and assembly. Based on synthesis of literature search and subsistent research, main research method, technology and current state in these areas are discussed and future research fields of multi-agent based manufacturing system in methodology, learning mechanism, system integration, coordination mechanism and conflict resolution are proposed.

Abstract:Coalition formation (CF) refers to reasonably organizing robots and/or humans to form coalitions that can satisfy mission requirements, attracting more and more attention in many fields such as multirobot collaboration and human-robot collaboration. However, the analysis on CF problems remains limited. To provide a valuable study reference for researchers interested in CF, this paper proposed a capability-centric analysis of the CF problem. The key problem elements of CF are firstly extracted by referencing the concepts of the 5W1H method. That is, objects ( who ) form coalitions ( what ) to accomplish missions ( why ) by aggregating capabilities ( how ) in a specific environment ( where-when ). Then, a multi-view analysis of these elements and their correlation in terms of capabilities is proposed through various logic diagrams, structure charts, etc. Finally, to facilitate a deeper understanding of capability-centric CF, a general mathematical model is constructed, demonstrating how the different concepts discussed in this analysis contribute to the overall model.

Abstract:With the increasing of web services in Internet, composing existing services for satisfying new requirements has gained daily expanding attentions and interests. Many efforts have been pursued for supporting the essential activities in service composition. However, the existing techniques only focus on passive services which are waiting there for being discovered and invoked. We argue that it might be more attractive when web services become active entities. This paper proposes a framework for the requirement driven agent coalition formation and negotiation. The aim of this research is trying toallow the web services to discover the requirements and interact with each other autonomously for satisfying the requirements. That will reduce the need for human mediation. With a function ontology, service agents and requirements can have the same terminology for describing their capability. Based on this ontology, we give theformulation of the problem of requirement driven service agent coalition formation and analyzed the stability of the coalition. Automated Mechanism design is used to prevent the service agents from misreporting their information and quitting a feasible coalition. A negotiation framework for the evaluation and choice ofcollaboration solutions is given in this paper. And a specification language is put forward to describe the execution process of generated MAS systems.

Abstract:We present an overview of formation control for multi-agent systems. Multi-agent formation cooperation is important to accomplish assigned tasks more efficiently and safely compared to a single agent. For the way information flows between agents, we divide the available results into communication-based topologies as well as vision-based formation controls. Then, we summarize the problem formulation, discuss the differences, and review the latest results on formation control schemes. Lastly, we give research recommendations for multi-intelligent agent controls in a certain period in the future.

Abstract:Cognitive abilities, such as Theory of Mind (ToM), play a vital role in facilitating cooperation in human social interactions. However, our study reveals that agents with higher ToM abilities may not necessarily exhibit better cooperative behavior compared to those with lower ToM abilities. To address this challenge, we propose a novel matching coalition mechanism that leverages the strengths of agents with different ToM levels by explicitly considering belief alignment and specialized abilities when forming coalitions. Our proposed matching algorithm seeks to find stable coalitions that maximize the potential for cooperative behavior and ensure long-term viability. By incorporating cognitive insights into the design of multi-agent systems, our work demonstrates the potential of leveraging ToM to create more sophisticated and human-like coordination strategies that foster cooperation and improve overall system performance.

Enhancing Collaboration in Heterogeneous Multiagent Systems Through Communication Complementary Graph

Abstract:Heterogeneous multiagent systems are characterized by diverse task distributions, which are prevalent in practical scenarios, such as distributed decision making and robotic collaboration. A significant challenge in these systems is the constraint of limited observations, where each agent has access only to partial information. Many studies facilitate information exchange by employing shared parameters among agents. However, this approach is generally more effective for homogeneous systems where agents have similar observation or action spaces. In heterogeneous systems, indiscriminate parameter sharing can significantly increase the exploration cost required for effective adaptation. To address this challenge, we propose a novel communication complementary graph model (CCGM) for enhancing collaboration in heterogeneous multiagent systems. Our approach builds upon the training framework of heterogeneous agent reinforcement learning (HARL) with trust region learning and nonparameter sharing. This model utilizes advantage function decomposition and sequential updates to promote policy convergence. Within this framework, we introduce a novel communication method inspired by signaling games, where agents acting as receivers, process messages from other agents alongside their own observations. CCGM aligns the messages with observations in a graph-based communication module, which establishes communication relationships and supplements observational information. Subsequently, agents generate self-interested information, which they then share with others as senders. We evaluate our algorithm across various environments, including multiagent particle environments (MPE) and multiagent MuJoCo (MAMuJoCo) robot experiments. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of CCGM in enhancing HARL-based algorithms.
A Task-Driven Multi-UAV Coalition Formation Mechanism

Abstract:With the rapid advancement of UAV technology, the problem of UAV coalition formation has become a hotspot. Therefore, designing task-driven multi-UAV coalition formation mechanism has become a challenging problem. However, existing coalition formation mechanisms suffer from low relevance between UAVs and task requirements, resulting in overall low coalition utility and unstable coalition structures. To address these problems, this paper proposed a novel multi-UAV coalition network collaborative task completion model, considering both coalition work capacity and task-requirement relationships. This model stimulated the formation of coalitions that match task requirements by using a revenue function based on the coalition's revenue threshold. Subsequently, an algorithm for coalition formation based on marginal utility was proposed. Specifically, the algorithm utilized Shapley value to achieve fair utility distribution within the coalition, evaluated coalition values based on marginal utility preference order, and achieved stable coalition partition through a limited number of iterations. Additionally, we theoretically proved that this algorithm has Nash equilibrium solution. Finally, experimental results demonstrated that the proposed algorithm, compared to currently classical algorithms, not only forms more stable coalitions but also further enhances the overall utility of coalitions effectively.

Expert Systems with Applications

Abstract:Agent trust researches become more and more important because they will ensure good interactions among the software agents in large-scale open systems. Moreover, individual agents often interact with long-term coalitions such as some E-commerce web sites. So the agents should choose a coalition based on utility and trust. Unfortunately, few studies have been done on agent coalition credit and there is a need to do it in detail. To this end, a long-term coalition credit model (LCCM) is presented. Furthermore, the relationship between coalition credit and coalition payoff is also attended. LCCM consists of internal trust based on agent direct interactions and external reputation based on agent direct observation. Generalization of LCCM can be demonstrated through experiments applied in both cooperative and competitive domain environment. Experimental results show that LCCM is capable of coalition credit computation efficiently and can properly reflect various factors effect on coalition credit. Another important advantage that is a useful and basic property of credit is that LCCM can effectively filter inaccurate or lying information among interactions.
