The Study of Free Anthraquinone Content and Antioxidant Power of Juemingzi (cassia Obtusifolia L. Seed) Tea

Abstract:The free anthraquinone of cassia seed tea were extracted with water or different ethanol water solution by ultrasonic or reflux. The free anthraquinone contents were detected with absorption spectrophotometer in 511 nm by using MgAc2-MeOH method. The antioxidant activity of the extracts was measured by using FRAP method.We found the free anthraquinone were detected in all of the extracts. The free anthraquinone content in water extract by reflux was 0.080 1%, which was the lowest content. And that in 55%ethanol water solution extract by ultrasonic was 0.67%, which was the highest content. The ferric reduction antioxidant power of the 55%ethanol water solution extracts was 2.14 mmol/g, which was the highest value. That of the water extract by ultrasonic was 1.08 mmol/g, which was the lowest value.
