Abstract:This paper presents a simple 3D reconstruction method based on single camera.A planar pattern is placed in the scene to be 3D reconstructed.Two or more pictures are taken by a single camera which intrinsic parameters were calibrated beforehand.And the extrinsic parameters are calculated accurately using the planar pattern.Standard stereo steps such as stereo calibration,rectification,matching and triangular are then performed.Experimental results show that the proposed method is simple,flexible and effective.

Abstract:In this paper, a new method for 3D reconstruction of urban building based on computer vision was presented. Sequence of images was captured by a single camera. Feature points in the images were firstly extracted and tracked, and then the trajectories were analyzed. Intrinsic and external parameters of camera were derived from self-calibration, and then 3D information of objective building was finally reconstructed. Experimental results indicated that the proposed method was effective and flexible. It could be applied to city planning, building measurement, virtual reality, etc.

Abstract:A new 3D computer vision approach, 3D spectrum imaging and reconstruction system, is proposed in this paper. The basic principal and structure of the system is introduced, the formulas to obtain the 3D information is deduced on the base of triangular algorithm, and the experiment result is given. As it shows in the paper, this new 3D computer vision system is clear in its principal, fast in its accurate computation, and simple in its structure. The fast 3D objects imaging and reconstruction features of this system can make it possible to be used in practical applications.

Abstract:The paper investigates the capability of object reconstruction from space for two specific projects. Both of them are based on the use of three-line scanner systems allowing for simultaneous digital image recording from three different angles. An efficient model for combined point determination is proposed, considering the digital image data as well as orbit information, GPS and INS observations. The resulting accuracy is estimated from project oriented simulations. Finally, the possibilities for DTM generation, orthophoto production and stereo compilation from three-line scanner imagery are discussed.

Abstract:The implicit calibration was applied to the stereo vision system using BP neural network. The image features of a free-form surface were enhanced by means of projecting big and small dots. On the basis of projective transformation, an area matching algorithm was presented. After the shapes of areas formed by big dots were transformed into standard shapes (for example, square) on the left and right images respectively, all the small dots within the standard area were matched automatically with their corresponding partners within the templet standard area. The experiments of 3D reconstruction of plaster model indicated that the dot projection enhances the image features of the free-form surface and the area matching approach performs matching effectively between the images.

Abstract:A kind of curved surface reconstruction method according to the structure light 3D stereovision is proposed. The calibration of the camera and the flat surface has been discussed. The structured light stripe which was modulated by the object surface is used as the object 3D information transfer instrument. A charge coupled device camera is used to obtain images which are analyzed by the software. The raster stripe which have been modulated is decoded. Finally, through modulated system the object’s 3D curved surface data is obgtained.

Abstract:Active structured light and multi-view stereo vision methods reconstruct objects to gain 3D model. However, due to the large scale difference between the two types of point clouds, traditional registration method cannot find corresponding points. This paper presents a 3D reconstruction method fused active structured light and multi-view stereo vision. The precision of the 3D reconstruction is improved by combining point clouds obtained from different sensors. Firstly, a scaled-PCA-ICP(Principal Component Analysis-Iterative Closest Point) algorithm is proposed to do the registration that can overcome the influence of large scale variance. Secondly, because it is difficult for two sets of point clouds to choose their registration center, a recalculated registration center is proposed to realize the point clouds registration again. Finally, the two-view point clouds apply the accurate matching to achieve data fusion. Test on two databases show the effectiveness of this fusion reconstruction method.

Abstract:This paper proposes a scheme with innovation both in algorithm and method to construct and display three-dimensional (3D) objects. We reduce the number of needed images to establish the complete 3D objects by combining Wide Baseline Matching and 3D registration algorithm. We reduce the loss of edge and corner information by applying line detection and guided matching in Narrow Baseline Matching. We perform projective reconstruction with a dynamic threshold, and eliminate the ambiguity in Euclidean reconstruction by motion consistency constraint. We propose a fast linear method for motion calculation to recover the motion of key frames with a succinct method to obtain motion vector by solving linear equation set. We adopt a novel display system, which features high refresh rate, large size and high intensity screen, to provide live display of 3D objects.

Abstract:For the improvement of robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery, 3D reconstruction of the visual field in surgery is demanding nowadays. This task faces the difficulty that the tissue surfaces in the visual field usually appear to be non-textured. How to reconstruct such kind of surfaces well under this environment is unsolved. Among many vision techniques, Shape From Shading is a unique method which infers surface shape (normal field) based on the reflectance model without requiring any texture. One major limitation is that the accurate surface depth (not shape) is unable to compute when illumination parameters are not calibrated. Stereovision is a long-standing method which estimates depth by establishing the pixel correspondences between two camera images. But it fails to find correspondences when encountered with non-textured surfaces. It is intuitive to combine these two methods to recover depth of non-textured surfaces and calibrate the illumination parameters as well. However, how to bridge these two methods efficiently is challenging. In this paper, the combination of these two methods is accomplished by a 3D matching framework based on Fast Point Feature Histogram (FPFH). We first reconstruct initial surface point clouds of left image and right image using SFS method. The pixel correspondences can be built by aligning SFS calculated point clouds using FPFH 3D descriptors. Therefore, stereo method can reconstruct depth of the surface. Furthermore, we employ a classic variational fusion algorithm which refines SFS-shape and stereovision-depth. Results of the recovered depth are shown through experiments.

Abstract:The laser confocal scanning microscopic (LCSM) system is one kind of modern microscopic instruments which are characterized by depth discrimination capability. However,in order to obtain the three dimensional images of an object,the three dimension reconstruction is very importment. In this paper,the theories and methods of how to create accurate depictions of three dimension data on the screen of a computer device is discussed and a new three dimension reconstruction method based on surface is proprosed.The experiment results show that the reconstructed images have high quality.

Abstract:Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction is one of the most attractive research topics in photogrammetry and computer vision. Nowadays 3D reconstruction with simple and consumable equipment plays an important role. In this paper, a 3D reconstruction desktop system is built based on binocular stereo vision using a laser scanner. The hardware requirements are a simple commercial hand-held laser line projector and two common webcams for image acquisition. Generally, 3D reconstruction based on passive triangulation methods requires point correspondences among various viewpoints. The development of matching algorithms remains a challenging task in computer vision. In our proposal, with the help of a laser line projector, stereo correspondences are established robustly from epipolar geometry and the laser shadow on the scanned object. To establish correspondences more conveniently, epipolar rectification is employed using Bouguet's method after stereo calibration with a printed chessboard. 3D coordinates of the observed points are worked out with ray-ray triangulation and reconstruction outliers are removed with the planarity constraint of the laser plane. Dense 3D point clouds are derived from multiple scans under different orientations. Each point cloud is derived by sweeping the laser plane across the object requiring 3D reconstruction. The Iterative Closest Point algorithm is employed to register the derived point clouds. Rigid body transformation between neighboring scans is obtained to get the complete 3D point cloud. Finally polygon meshes are reconstructed from the derived point cloud and color images are used in texture mapping to get a lifelike 3D model. Experiments show that our reconstruction method is simple and efficient.

Abstract:To overcome the limitation of the measurement range of static stereo vision, a three-dimensional (3-D) reconstruction method of dynamic stereo vision based on line structured light for metal surface is presented in this paper. The dynamic stereo vision is mainly composed of binocular cameras and a laser line generator, and moves along a horizontal guide rail. The intrinsic parameters of the cameras and the rotation and translation of the right camera relative to the left camera are previously obtained by Zhang's method. To obtain the 3-D coordinates of the line structured light fringe in each position, the sub-pixel coordinates of the fringe center are extracted by Steger algorithm, and a joint calibration method between single camera and a laser line generator is proposed. The joint calibration method calculates the plane equation of the line structured light by using multiple checkerboard images with projected structured light line. To unify the 3-D coordinates of structured light fringe in each position to the reference coordinate system, the rotation and translation of the camera in each position relative to the reference position (called absolute pose) should be solved. The direct linear transformation method is firstly used to calculate the rough relative pose between adjacent frames, and principle of re-projection error minimization in object space is used to obtain the refined relative pose. Instead of using step-by-step transfer method, the absolute pose of the camera in each position is eventually calculated by using global optimization algorithm after the relative pose between all adjacent frames are obtained. Computer simulation and abundant experimental data validate the effectiveness of proposed method. The proposed 3-D reconstruction method using global optimization is respectively compared with step-by-step transfer method based on pixel re-projection error minimization and re-projection error minimization in object space. The experimental results reflect that our method is superior to step-by-step transfer method, and the 3-D reconstruction accuracy is improved by 28.05 % after global optimization.

Abstract:This paper presents a method for three-dimensional reconstruction from images that can be used to identify obstacles based on a single omnidirectional image obtained by an omnidirectional stereo vision optical device OSVOD. The OSVOD is a novel catadioptric system based on a common perspective camera coupled with two hyperbolic mirrors. The images captured by OSVOD are unwrapped into cylinder panoramic images, which are then examined for stereo matching along vertical epiploar lines. Given two images of a space point obtained by this vision system, the 3D coordinates of the point can be calculated by using triangulation. An algorithm of the quick stereo matching method based on Canny edge and SIFT feature points is proposed and the result of 3D reconstruction and depth map are obtained. From the results, we can find that the 3D reconstruction accuracy can be accepted for mobile robots' obstacle detection and navigation tasks.

Abstract:An improved 3D face reconstruction method as well as a binocular stereo vision system based on single camera is proposed. Under the assumption that face is symmetrical, the point cloud is optimized automatically by correction and holes filling. Then, a simplified Candide-3 model is used as initial subdivision controlling mesh, locally refined and levelly fitted. Meanwhile, geodesic mapping technique is applied to normalize different expressions and face databases are built respectively. Experimental results show that the proposed stereo vision system improves the reconstruction accuracy and avoids robust decreasing caused by non synchronous shooting of two cameras. Furthermore, subdivision surfaces used as storage saves space and provides theoretical support for comparison. Considering its low cost, the proposed system is feasible to spread in many fields.

Abstract:Conventional high-accuracy three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction methods usually involve complicated and time-consuming system calibration. This paper presents a novel and simple 3D reconstruction model based on a parallel-axis structured light system. Compared to the traditional structured light system, the proposed system contains a perspective projection unit and a telecentric imaging unit. Instead of obtaining the complicated structured light system parameters, the proposed model only requires the retrieval of a product matrix which could be easily calibrated by using an ordinary white plane. For an arbitrary point A on the object surface, it is mathematically proved that the product matrix of its phase map and height distribution is proportional to the distance between A and projector optical center in XY plane, and independent of the depth in Z direction. Experiments were carried out to measure a step-height object and a cylindrical surface, and the results verify that the proposed method can achieve high-accuracy 3D shape measurement.

Abstract:A simple method for acquisition of a cloud of points from an object surface is presented together with a novel surface reconstruction algorithm to obtain an explicit 3D model for the measured object.In the experiment,laser scanner and CCD camera are used,considering that the former is of good coherence and directionality and the latter is of high resolution and capable of obtaining images from various angles.Another advantage of CCD photography is that it enhances the accuracy of image registration.It is shown by the experiment results that the measurement methods we used is of efficiency and high precision,and hence can be applied in the measurement of random datasets prior to 3D resolution.

Abstract:Facial modeling is a hot research topic both in computer graphics and 3D reconstruction fields.This paper realizes facial measurement from two viewpoints with two groups of CCD and structural light projectors,ensuring the scope and the integrity of the measurement data.Pointing to the geometrical and texture data of measurement,this paper developes a visualized software platform for data processing,which can accomplish processes for two viewpoints including thinning,segmentation,jointing and meshing,and after texture mapping a realistic 3D facial model can be reconstructed.Finally,with the integration of the measurement system and the software process platform,an integrated system for 3D facial reconstruction is formed,and the flexibility of the system is proved by the experiment.

Abstract:Active stereo vision is important in reconstructing objects without obvious textures. However, it is still very challenging to extract and match the projected patterns from two camera views automatically and robustly. In this paper, we propose a new pattern extraction method and a new stereo vision matching method based on our novel structured light pattern. Instead of using the widely used 2D disparity to calculate the depths of the objects, we use the ray intersection to compute the 3D shapes directly. Experimental results showed that the proposed approach could reconstruct the 3D shape of the object significantly more robustly than state of the art methods that include the widely used disparity based active stereo vision method, the time of flight method and the structured light method. In addition, experimental results also showed that the proposed approach could reconstruct the 3D motions of the dynamic shapes robustly.

Abstract:With the rapid development of computer graphics and vision, several three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction techniques have been proposed and used to obtain the 3D representation of objects in the form of point cloud models, mesh models, and geometric models. The cost of 3D reconstruction is declining due to the maturing of this technology, however, the inexpensive 3D reconstruction scanners on the market may not be able to generate a clear point cloud model as expected. This study systematically reviews some basic types of 3D reconstruction technology and introduces an easy implementation using a linear laser scanner, a camera, and a turntable. The implementation is based on the monovision with laser and has tested several objects like wiki and mug. The accuracy and resolution of the point cloud result are quite satisfying. It turns out everyone can build such a 3D reconstruction system with appropriate procedures.

Abstract:In this paper, a surface projection image stitching algorithm based on object coordinate system is proposed to generate stereoscopic image, which can be applied to virtual reality and vehicle assisted driving. According to the actual application, a suitable 3D model is established, and the image is mapped based on the object coordinate system. The 3D model is divided into fusion and non-fusion regions, and the original image is mapped to the non-fusion region. For the stitching region, combined with the model features, a weighted average fusion algorithm based on angle information is designed to correct the color of the stitched image to eliminate uneven illumination and brightness. The experimental results show that the stereoscopic image generated by this method can display the surrounding environment of the car body in a stereoscopic manner, with high image stitching accuracy and good visual effect.
