Abstract:Objective: To investigate oncological outcomes in patients with bladder cancer who underwent minimally invasive radical cystectomy (MIRC) or open radical cystectomy (ORC). Methods: We identified patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy (RC) in 13 centers of the Chinese Bladder Cancer Consortium (CBCC). Perioperative outcomes were compared between MIRC and ORC. The influence of surgical approaches on overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) in the entire study group and subgroups classified according to pathologic stage or lymph node (LN) status was assessed with the log-rank test. Multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were used to evaluate the association among OS, CSS and risk factors of interest. Results: Of 2 098 patients who underwent RC, 1 243 patients underwent MIRC (1 087 laparoscopic RC and 156 robotic-assisted RC, respectively), while 855 patients underwent ORC. No significant differences were noted in positive surgical margin rate and 90-day postoperative mortality rate. MIRC was associated with less estimated blood loss, more LN yield, higher rate of neobladder diversion, longer operative time, and longer length of hospital stay. There was no significant difference in OS and CSS according to surgical approaches (p=0.653, and 0.816, respectively). Subgroup analysis revealed that OS and CSS were not significantly different regardless of the status of extravesical involvement or LN involvement. Multivariable Cox regression analyses showed that the surgical approach was not a significant predictor of OS and CSS. Conclusions: Our study showed that MIRC was comparable to conventional ORC in terms of OS and CSS.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To study advantages or disadvantages of total cystectomy and W shape orthotopic ileal neobladder.METHODS:Radical cystectomy and ileal new bladder was performed antegradly and retrogradly for 120 male patients. For the construction of the reservoir, the 40 cm ileal segment was isolated along its antimesenteric border and then arranged into a W shape. The incised ileum was sutured blanketly to create urine bag. The ureters were replanted at the two corners of the W shape by way of creating nipple.RESULTS:The first 50 cases took 210-300 min with a mean of 270 min. The later 70 cases took 110-205 min with a mean of 143 min. Ninety-one of 120 cases had been followed up for 2-88 months with a mean of 30 months. Eighty-five cases had achieved excellent daytime continence, whereas 71 cases had nighttime continence. There were 9 cases of hydroureter and 2 cases of moderate hydronephrosis. Renal function of 2 cases were slightly abnormal. Hypokalemia occurred in 6 cases, and there was no metabolic-disorder. On voiding cystography, only 1 case showed reflux in right ureter. Only 2 case suffered from cancer recurrence of urethral and no patient suffered from cancer recurrence of neobladder. Twenty patients were evaluated by urodynamic examine. The urine flow curve showed continual shape in 12 cases, while intermittent shape in 8 cases. Voiding cystourethrography showed the neobladder outlet presented funnel shape and open well in continual group, while lack of funnel shape or bladder neck opened badly in intermittent group.CONCLUSION:The modified total cystectomy and ileal new bladder are effective and reliable treatment for patients.
Laparoscopic radical cystectomy with urinary diversion:a report of 69 cases

Abstract:Objective To investigate the feasibility of radical cystectomy combined with urinary diversion under laparoscope and summarize the surgical techniques.Methods A total of 69patients with bladder cancer underwent laparoscopic radical cystectomy with urinary diversion.Of them,22received ileal conduit and 47 received ileal orthotopic neobladder.Results All procedures were successfully performed.The operative time was(240±28)min in ileal conduit group and(333±32)min in ileal orthotopic neobladder group;the blood loss was(380±120)mL and(680±200)mL;the recovery time of bowel function was(2.5±1.2)d and(3.6± 1.1)d;and the postoperative hospital stay was(7.7±0.9)d and(24±3.2)d,respectively.No severe complication occurred in the ileal conduit group.One patient in the ileal orthotopic neobladder group suffered from intestinal fistula and underwent open neoplasty.Postoperative pathologic results confirmed that all patients had bladder transitional cell carcinoma.There were 10cases in gradeⅠ,29cases in gradeⅡ and 30cases in grade Ⅲ.The number of lymph nodes dissected was 17±6.3during surgery.Positive nodes were detected in 5cases,and the positive rate was 7.2%.The average duration was(14.7±5.3)months(range,3to 24months).No recurrence or metastasis was found.Conclusion Laparoscopic radical cystectomy with urinary diversion can reduce surgical trauma,expose anatomical structure more clearly and is helpful for postoperative recovery.Due to the difficulty of surgical procedures,the surgeon must master laparoscopic technique.

Abstract:Radical cystectomy and urinary diversion are the standard surgical treatments for patients with muscle-invasive or high-risk, or recurrent non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Although this approach significantly prolongs patient survival, it can lead to postoperative complications. This study aims to compare the efficacy and complications of bilateral cutaneous ureterostomy with a single subumbilical stoma to those of cutaneous ureterostomy with two stomas and an ileal conduit as a means of urinary diversion after radical cystectomy. The findings of this study will provide valuable information for healthcare providers in selecting the appropriate urinary diversion method for their patients.

Early and late complications of robot-assisted radical cystectomy: a standardized analysis by urinary diversion type

Abstract:Purpose: Minimally invasive surgical treatment for bladder cancer has gained popularity but standardized data on complications are lacking. Urinary diversion type contributes to complications and to our knowledge diversion types after minimally invasive cystectomy have not yet been compared. We evaluated perioperative complications stratified by urinary diversion type in patients treated with robot-assisted radical cystectomy. Materials and methods: We analyzed the records of 209 consecutive patients who underwent robot-assisted radical cystectomy at our institution from 2003 to 2012 with respect to perioperative complications, including severity, time period (early and late) and diversion type. All complications were reviewed by academic urologists. Urinary diversion was also done. As outcome measurements and statistical analysis, univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to determine predictors of various complications. Results: The American Society of Anesthesiologists(®) (ASA) score was 3 or greater in 80% of patients and continent diversion was performed in 68%. Median followup was 35 months. Within 90 days 77.5% of patients experienced any complication and 32% experienced a major complication. The 90-day mortality rate was 5.3%. Most complications were gastrointestinal, infectious and hematological. On multivariate analysis patients with ileal conduit diversion had a decreased likelihood of complications compared to patients with Indiana pouch and orthotopic bladder substitute diversion despite the selection of a more comorbid population for conduit diversion. Continent diversion was associated with a higher likelihood of urinary tract infection. Our results are comparable to those of previously reported open and minimally invasive cystectomy series. Conclusions: Open or minimally invasive cystectomy is a complex, morbid procedure. Urinary diversion is a significant contributor to complications, as is patient comorbidity. Although patients with an ileal conduit had more comorbidities, they experienced fewer complications than those with an orthotopic bladder substitute or Indiana pouch diversion.

Abstract:American Journal of Men's Health, Volume 18, Issue 5, September-October 2024. To explore the therapeutic efficacy of intracorporeal urinary diversion (ICUD) and extracorporeal urinary diversion (ECUD) after robot-assisted radical cystectomy for bladder cancer through systematic review. This study systematically retrieved electronic databases of PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CNKI, and Wanfang to include peer-reviewed studies comparing ICUD and ECUD after robot-assisted radical cystectomy for bladder cancer. Relative risk (RR) and mean difference (MD) were used to represent the pooled effect size and estimate its 95% confidence interval (CI). This study included 15 studies with good quality, involving 5,370 patients undergoing robot-assisted radical cystectomy for bladder cancer. Meta-analysis showed that ICUD reduced intraoperative bleeding volume by 64.12 ml (95% confidence interval [CI]: [−100.95, −27.29]), significantly decreased the risk of blood transfusion (RR: 0.40; 95% CI: [0.24, 0.68]) and gastrointestinal complications (odds ratio [OR]: 0.61; 95% CI: [0.47, 0.80]), with shorter postoperative time of exhaust (MD: −9.27; 95% CI: [−18.47, −0.08]) and oral intake (MD: −0.92; 95% CI: [−1.30, −0.54]). However, ICUD had a relatively longer surgical duration (MD: 30.84 min, 95% CI: [5.03, 56.66]). In addition, there was no statistically significant difference concerning the impact of ICUD and ECUD on the length of stay in the hospital (MD: −0.68d; 95% CI: [−1.79, 0.42]), overall complications (30-day: RR: 1.16; 95% CI: [0.93, 1.46]; and 90-day, RR: 0.85; 95% CI: [0.69, 1.04]) and readmission rate (30-day: RR: 0.96; 95% CI: [0.72, 1.27]; and 90-day: RR: 1.15; 95% CI: [0.80, 1.64]). ICUD after robot-assisted laparoscopic radical cystectomy for bladder cancer exhibits obvious positive effects, especially in reducing the risk of blood transfusion and gastrointestinal complications, and shortening postoperative time of exhaust and oral intake. The findings in this meta-analysis should be confirmed by multiple high-quality studies in the future.

Abstract:Purpose Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) has played an important role in recovery management for radical cystectomy with ileal urinary diversion (RC-IUD). This study is to evaluate ERAS compared with the conventional recovery after surgery (CRAS) for RC-IUD. Methods From October 2014 and July 2016, bladder cancer patients scheduled for curative treatment from 25 centers of Chinese Bladder Cancer Consortium were randomly assigned to either ERAS or CRAS group. Primary endpoint was the 30-day complication rate. Secondary endpoints included recovery of fluid and regular diet, flatus, bowel movement, ambulation, and length of stay (LOS) postoperatively. Follow-up period was 30-day postoperatively. Results There were 144 ERAS and 145 CRAS patients. Postoperative complications occurred in 25.7 and 30.3% of the ERAS and CRAS patients with 55 complications in each group, respectively ( p = 0.40). There was no significant difference between groups in major complications ( p = 0.82), or type of complications ( p = 0.99). The ERAS group had faster recovery of bowel movements (median 88 versus 100 h, p = 0.01), fluid diet tolerance (68 versus 96 h, p < 0.001), regular diet tolerance (125 versus 168 h, p = 0.004), and ambulation (64 versus 72 h, p = 0.047) than the CRAS group, but similar time to flatus and LOS. Conclusions ERAS did not increase 30-day complications compared with CRAS after RC. ERAS may be better than CRAS in terms of bowel movement, tolerance of fluid and regular diet, and ambulation.

Abstract:Background: Radical cystectomy and urinary diversion (UD) are gold standards for non-metastatic muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Orthotopic neobladder (or Studer), ileal conduit (or Bricker) and cutaneous ureterostomy (CU) are mainstream UD types. Little is known about urinary microbiological changes after UD. Methods: In this study, urine samples were collected from healthy volunteers and patients with bladder cancer who had received aforementioned UD procedures. Microbiomes of samples were analyzed using 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing, and microbial diversities, distributions and functions were investigated and compared across groups. Results: Highest urine microbial richness and diversity were observed in healthy controls, followed by Studer patients, especially those without hydronephrosis or residual urine, α-diversity indices of whom were remarkably higher than those of Bricker and CU groups. Studer UD type was the only independent factor favoring urine microbial diversity. The urine microflora structure of the Studer group was most similar to that of the healthy individuals while that of the CU group was least similar. Studer patients and healthy volunteers shared many similar urine microbial functions, while Bricker and CU groups exhibited opposite characteristics. Conclusion: Our study first presented urinary microbial landscapes of UD patients and demonstrated the microbiological advantage of orthotopic neobladder. Microbiota might be a potential tool for optimization of UD management.

Progress in urinary diversion and bladder substitution after operation of bladder cancer

Abstract:Radical cystectomy is the gold standard treatment for muscle-invasive bladder cancer. But there are no uniform criteria for the urinary reconstructive options after radical cystectomy. The types of urinary diversion fall into three major categories: noncontinent cutaneous diversion, continent coetaneous diversion and continent orthotopic diversion. Among appropriately selected patients, the orthotopic neobladder should be a top priority. Sigmoid neobladder as an ideal form of orthotopic urinary reconstruction comes closest to the natural bladder’s urine storage and voiding function. When involvement of the urethra by tumour prevents the choice of an orthotopic neobladder, sigma rectum pouch will be accepted by more and more people as a continent cutaneous diversion. Bricker ileal neobladder is still widely used for simple operations, fewer complications, for elderly patients and those with a poor performance status, the ureterocutaneostomy is a reliable option. Tissue engineering approaches provide new possibilities by creating a man-made construct to replace the bladder. A series of basic researches of tissue engineering of the bladder show a wide prospect of clinical application in the future.
Clinical Outcomes of Pelvic Lymph Node Dissection Before Versus after Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Cystectomy

Abstract:Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of bladder cancer patients treated with extended pelvic lymph node dissection (ePLND) before or after cystectomy under robotic-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC).Methods: A retrospective study to identify 348 patients with bladder cancer who underwent RARC was performed. Of the patients, 152 (42.8%) underwent ePLND before radical cystectomy (RC) (group A) and 196 (56.3%) underwent ePLND after RC (group B). The clinical, pathological, and overall survival were compared.Results: The total and RC operation time in Group A (total: 130.68 +/- 29.25 minutes, RC: 59.45 +/- 28.63 minutes) were both shorter than Group B (total: 154.17 +/- 38.18 minutes, RC: 94.81 +/- 41.21 minutes) (P < .05). However, no significant difference in time of ePLND. The estimate blood loss (EBL) of RC part and total operation (RC+ePLND) in group A was less than group B (both P < .05), while the ePLND part did not show significance. The result of vascular and nerve injury and surgical drain withdrawal time were similar in two groups. The total number of lymph nodes in group A was fewer than group B (16 versus 26; P < .05). Moreover, the number of bilateral internal iliac and presacral lymph nodes of group A was fewer than group B significantly, whereas the number of bilateral external iliac, common iliac, and obturator lymph nodes was similar in two groups. The lymph node density of group A was significantly lower than group B. The median follow-up of all patients was 33.0 months. Importantly, the survival of group B was better than group A (hazard ratio: 1.412; 95% confidence interval: 1.004-1.987; P = .048).Conclusions: Performing ePLND before RC reveals better result on operation time and EBL, while, when ePLND after RC, the total number of lymph nodes dissected is more and the survival is better. It recommended ePLND be performed before RC, and it is necessary to recheck the internal iliac and presacral area after cystectomy.
Radical cystectomy with stentless urinary diversion: A systematic review and meta-analysis of comparative studies

Abstract:Purpose: To systematically compare the evidence about surgical outcomes, postoperative complications, and sequelae of Radical cystectomy with urinary diversion with or without stent placement. Material and methods: A literature search was performed through PubMed, Scopus®, and Web of Science up to December 2023 in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) statement. The study protocol was registered in PROSPERO (CRD 42023492384), and the research question was formulated according to the PICOs model. Three comparative studies were identified, 2 randomized and 1 prospective coming from a randomized cohort. Results: The stent group showed higher odds of postoperative major complications (OR 3.00 - 95%CI 1.06; 8.52; P = 0.04) than the stentless group. There was no statistically significant difference between the 2 groups regarding 30-day readmission (P = 0.06), postoperative uretero-ileal anastomotis stricture (UIAS) (P = 0.09), postoperative uretero-ileal anastomotis leak (UIAL) (P = 0.20), postoperative urinary tract infections (UTIs) (P = 0.08), and postoperative ureteral obstruction (P = 0.35). No statistically significant difference between the 2 groups was found regarding UIAS management in terms of ureteral reimplantation (P = 0.28) or dilatation (P = 0.36). Conclusions: Our pooled data analysis shows no statistically significant difference between stentless and stented urinary diversion after radical cystectomy. Stentless could be a reasonable choice when performing diversion during radical cystectomy.

Abstract:Objective: To analyze changes in renal function and associated risk factors in patients with bladder cancer undergoing robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) with intracorporeal or extracorporeal urinary diversion (ICUD or ECUD). Methods: Clinical-pathological data was extracted from electronic medical records of 266 patients with bladder cancer who underwent RARC at our institution between August 2015 and August 2022. Postoperative renal function was assessed using the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Result: Patients were classified into ECUD and ICUD groups based on the surgical approach. Significant differences in eGFR were observed between the two groups at 1, 2, and 3 years postoperatively. Moreover, 112 patients (42.1%) experienced long-term renal function injury. Independent risk factors for long-term renal function injury included the type of surgical approach, ureteroenteric anastomotic strictures, and pathological stage T3 or above. In terms of short-term renal function, 30 cases of acute kidney injury (AKI) were observed, with an incidence rate of 11.3%. No difference in AKI incidence was found between the groups. Conclusions: Postoperative AKI and chronic kidney injury are prevalent complications following RC. This study highlights that pathological stage, ureteroenteric anastomotic strictures, and ECUD significantly impact long-term renal function, but the type of urinary diversion (ileal conduit or orthotopic neobladder) had no effect on renal function, and ICUD was superior in terms of long-term renal injury rate. Therefore, precise preoperative assessment and the selection of appropriate surgical approach are crucial for preserving renal function in patients with bladder cancer.

Robot-assisted radical cystectomy with intracorporeal urinary diversion: an updated systematic review and meta-analysis of its differential effect on effectiveness and safety

Abstract:Background: Robot-assisted laparoscopic cystectomy with intracorporeal urinary diversion (iRARC) is increasingly being used in recent years. Whether iRARC offers advantages over open radical cystectomy (ORC) remains controversial. This study aimed to compare the difference of perioperative outcomes, oncological outcomes and complications between iRARC and ORC. Methods: The PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and CNKI databases were searched in July 2023 according to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses) statement. Studies were identified to be eligible if they compared perioperative outcomes, oncological outcomes and complications in patients who underwent iRARC with ORC. Results: Twenty-two studies involving 7,020 patients were included. Compared to ORC, iRARC was superior for estimated blood loss [EBL WMD: −555.52; 95% CI, −681.64 to −429.39; P <0.001], blood transfusion rate [OR: 0.16; 95% CI, 0.09 to 0.28; P <0.001], length of hospital stay [LOS WMD: −2.05; 95% CI, −2.93 to −1.17; P <0.001], Clavien-Dindo grades ≥III complication rate [30d: OR: 0.57; 95% CI 0.44 to 0.75; P <0.001; 90d: OR: 0.71; 95% CI 0.60 to 0.84; P <0.001], and positive surgical margin [PSM OR: 0.65; 95% CI 0.49 to 0.85; P =0.002]. However, iRARC had a longer operative time [OT WMD: 68.54; 95%CI 47.41 to 89.67; P <0.001] and a higher rate of ureteroenteric stricture [ UES OR: 1.56; 95% CI 1.16 to 2.11; P =0.003]. Time to flatus, time to bowel, time to regular diet, readmission rate, Clavien-Dindo grades<III complication rate for iRARC were similar to that for ORC. Interestingly, the results of subgroup analysis revealed no difference in EBL between iRARC and ORC when the diversion type was neobladder. When the ileal conduit was selected as the diversion type, the LOS was similar in both procedures. Conclusion: Robot-assisted laparoscopic cystectomy with intracorporeal urinary diversion appears to be superior to open radical cystectomy in terms of effectiveness and safety. However, attention should be paid to the occurrence of ureteroenteric stricture during follow-up.

Additionally, laparoendoscopic single-site surgery and robot-assisted laparoscopic techniques are undergoing a development in this field. The minimally invasive techniques present a promising application whereas the efifcacy and safety require further validation.

Abstract:Purpose To compare the peri-operative outcomes of females undergoing laparoscopic intracorporeal urinary diversions (ICUD) and extracorporeal urinary diversions (ECUD) after laparoscopic radical cystectomies (LRC). Patients and methods Thirty-eight females who underwent LRCs and urinary diversions from February 2008 to October 2018 were divided into two groups: the ECUD group (19 patients) and the ICUD group (19 patients). We retrospectively analysed the patients in terms of patients' demographics, peri-operative outcomes, and oncological follow-ups. Results There were significant differences in the mean operative times between ECUDs and ICUDs (364.6 vs. 297.1 min, p = 0.007), transfusion rates (37% vs. 5%, p = 0.042), time to flatus (5 vs. 3 days, p = 0.020), time to ambulation (2 vs. 1 days, p = 0.022), and duration of postoperative hospital stays (22 vs. 13 days, p = 0.002). The mean lymph node yield was 12.9 in the ECUD group and 18.6 in the ICUD group (p = 0.140). Seven out of 19 patients (37%) in the ECUD group and 6 out of 19 patients (32%) in the ICUD group had positive lymph nodes (p > 0.9). Two out of 19 ECUD patients (11%) and 4 of 19 ICUD patients (21%) had positive surgical margins (p = 0.660). Although there were no differences in major complications at 30 days and in all complications at 90 days, the Clavien grade II complications were significantly different at 30 days (ECUD 8, ICUD 2; p = 0.026). The mean follow-up times were 48.7 months (ECUD group) and 26.4 months (ICUD group). There were no statistically significant differences in estimated glomerular filtration rates postoperatively (p = 0.516). Seven patients had disease metastases (ECUD 2 out of 19, ICUD 5 out of 19; p = 0.405) and 5 died (ECUD 3 out of 19, ICUD 2 out of 19; p > 0.9). Conclusions ICUDs benefit females by having smaller incisions, faster recoveries, and decreased complication rates.
Urinary Diversion By Neobladder Reconstruction After Radical Cystectomy In The Elderly: Outcomes And Survival

Abstract:This 2-center retrospective study compared the outcomes after open radical cystectomy of older patients who underwent urinary diversion (UD) by orthotopic ileal neobladder reconstruction (Studer technique) or ileal conduit (Bricker). Between April 2005 and August 2013, 216 suitable consecutive patients aged >= 65 years underwent UD after cystectomy, either by ileal conduit using the Bricker method, or orthotopic ileal neobladder reconstruction in accordance with the Studer technique. Rates of the following were noted: transfusions; complications; 30-day mortality; urethral recurrence; overall and cancer-specific survival; and for the Studer group, continence. The mean age of the study population was 72 (range, 65-83) years. Thirty-one patients (14%) underwent the Studer procedure, 185 (86%) received the Bricker. The rates of early complications were 41.9% and 49.2% in the Studer and Bricker groups, respectively (P=0.454); late complications were 54.8% and 40.4% (P=0.135); and 30-day mortality was 0% and 3.8% (P=0.597). The median follow-up was 48 months. The 2-y and 5-y overall survival rates were 80.6% and 60.5% in the Studer group, and 55.1% and 31.8% in the Bricker group. The 2- and 5-y cancer-specific survivals were 89.7% and 78.6% in the Studer group; 76.3% and 61.8% in the Bricker group. After the neobladder reconstructions, the daytime continence rate was 97%, nocturnal was 67%. Therefore, the complications and oncological outcomes of older patients given UD by orthotopic ileal neobladder reconstruction in accordance with Studer are similar relative to that of patients given an ileal conduit by the Bricker method. The complete continence rates for the elders by neobladder are satisfactory. With careful patient selection, it is appropriate to perform an orthotopic neobladder for elderly patients after cystectomy.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the surgical technique and clinical efficacy of laparoscopic radical cystectomy for bladder cancer.Methods We analysed 28 cases of bladder cancer,with age ranging from 58 to 73 years(mean 68.5 years).The pathological reports of 26 cases showed transitional cell carcinoma Ⅱ-Ⅲ grads;and 2 cases were squamous carcinoma.We performed laparoscopic radical cystectomy on 15 cases plus reconstruction of bladder with ileum,on 10 cases plus rectum pouch,and on 3 cases plus ureterostomy,and we watched the operation time,the blood loss,the intestine function and the complication.Results All operations were successful,with the operation time being 7-10 hours,the blood loss 600-1 500 mL,mean 850 mL.The intestine function recovered about 72hrs after operation.All ureteral catheters were removed 2 weeks after surgery.Urethral catheter was removed 3 weeks after surgery,the patients were able to normosthenuria by abdominal pressure,and the IVU were normonal.Conclusion Laparoscopic radical cystectomy for invasive bladder cancer is a safe and efficient method,with advantages of good operating field,miniinvasion,less celiac complications,short hospital stay and rapid recovery.It's worth to be widespread.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the long term efficacy of radical cystectomy and ileal conduit in the treatment of bladder cancer. Methods 196 cases of bladder tumor treated from Jan. 1985 to Jan. 2000 with radical cystectomy and ileal conduit for urinary diversion were studied retrospectively. Results Bladder neck or trigone was involved by the neogrowth in 126(64.3%).The growth has been invasive in 145(74.0%). 93.4%(183/196) of the tumor were transitional cell carcinoma. Early operative complication occurred in 19(9.7%) and late complication in 10(7.4%).On following up for 1 to 15 years with a mean of 6.6 years,the 5 year survival rate has been 66.2%. Conclusions Radical cystectomy is the optimal in treating invasive bladder tumor and ileal conduit is a good means of urinary diversion which is simple with minimal complications.
