Abstract:Based on the thought of new password design of “graphical construction plus number theory” as well as the edge magic graceful labelling, we defined a new graph labelling called (ki) 1 m -edge magic graceful totally labelling (m2), and obtain the properties of these two labellings on graphs. We show several new algorithms for constructing graphs having these two labellings, and furthermore show that every graph admits at least a (ki) 1 m -edge magic graceful totally labelling.

Abstract:Graceful tree conjecture is a well-known open problem in graph theory. Here we present a computational approach to this conjecture. An algorithm for finding graceful labelling for trees is proposed. With this algorithm, we show that every tree with at most 35 vertices allows a graceful labelling, hence we verify that the graceful tree conjecture is correct for trees with at most 35 vertices.

Abstract:Four algorithms giving rise to graceful graphs from a known (non)graceful graph are described. Some necessary conditions for a graph to be highly graceful and critical are given. Finally some conjectures are made on graceful, critical and highly graceful graphs. The RingelRosaKotzig Conjecture is generalized to highly graceful graphs. MayedaSeshu Tree Generation Algorithm is modified to generate all possible graceful labelings of trees of order p. An alternative algorithm in terms of integers modulo p is described which includes all possible graceful labelings of trees of order p and some interesting properties are observed. Optimal and graceful graph embeddings (not necessarily connected) are given. Alternative proofs for embedding a graph into a graceful graph as a subgraph and as an induced subgraph are included. An algorithm to obtain an optimal graceful embedding is described. A necessary condition for a graph to be supergraceful is given. As a consequence some classes of nonsupergraceful graphs are obtained. Embedding problems of a graph into a supergraceful graph are studied. A catalogue of super graceful graphs with at most five nodes is appended. Optimal graceful and supergraceful embeddings of a graph are given. Graph theoretical properties of prime and superprime graphs are listed. Good upper bound for minimum number of edges in a nonprime graph is given and some conjectures are proposed which in particular includes Entringers prime tree conjecture. A conjecture for regular prime graphs is also proposed.

Abstract:In 1994,Mitchem and Simoson introduced the notion of super edge-graceful graphs when they studied the problem of the labeling graph.In the course of studied subsequent,it is proven that some graphs are super edge-graceful,and some conjectures on super edge-graceful graphs were introduced.The super edge-graceful labeling of cycles Cn is discussed,and it is proved that Cn is super edge-graceful when n≠4,6.

Abstract:Due to the universality of graph data, node classification shows its great importance in a wide range of real-world applications. Despite the successes of Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), GNN based methods rely heavily on rich connections and perform poorly on low-degree nodes. Since many real-world graphs follow a long-tailed distribution in node degrees, they suffer from a substantial performance bottleneck as a significant fraction of nodes is of low degree. In this paper, we point out that under-represented self-representations and low neighborhood homophily ratio of low-degree nodes are two main culprits. Based on that, we propose a novel method Grace which improves the node representation by self-distillation, and increases neighborhood homophily ratio of low-degree nodes by graph completion. To avoid error propagation of graph completion, label propagation is further leveraged. Experimental evidence has shown that our method well supports real-world graphs, and is superior in balancing degree-related bias and overall performance on node classification tasks.

Abstract:A graceful $l$-coloring of a graph $G$ is a proper vertex coloring with $l$ colors which induces a proper edge coloring with at most $l-1$ colors, where the color for an edge $ab$ is the absolute difference between the colors assigned to the vertices $a$ and $b$. The graceful chromatic number $\chi_g(G)$ is the smallest $l$ for which $G$ permits graceful $l$-coloring. The problem of computing the graceful chromatic number of regular graphs is still open, though the existence of the lower bound was proved in \cite{3}. Hence, we pay attention to the computation of the graceful chromatic number of a special class of regular graphs namely complete graphs using set theoretic approach. Also, a few characterization of graphs based on their graceful chromatic number were examined.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce graceful and near graceful labellings of several families of windmills. In particular, we use Skolem-type sequences to prove (near) graceful labellings exist for windmills with $C_3$ and $C_4$ vanes, and infinite families of $3,5$-windmills and $3,6$-windmills. Furthermore, we offer a new solution showing that the graph obtained from the union of $t$ 5-cycles with one vertex in common ($C_5^t$) is graceful if and only if $t \equiv 0,3\!\!\pmod{4}$ and is near graceful when $t\equiv 1,2 \pmod{4}$.

Abstract:Given a graph $G$, a total labeling on $G$ is called edge-antimagic total (respectively, vertex-antimagic total) if all edge-weights (respectively, vertex-weights) are pairwise distinct. If a labeling on $G$ is simultaneously edge-antimagic total and vertex-antimagic total, it is called a totally antimagic total labeling. A graph that admits totally antimagic total labeling is called a totally antimagic total graph. In this paper, we prove that ladders, prisms and generalised Pertersen graphs are totally antimagic total graphs. We also show that the chain graph of totally antimagic total graphs is a totally antimagic total graph.

On the Generalization Capability of Temporal Graph Learning Algorithms: Theoretical Insights and a Simpler Method

Abstract:Temporal Graph Learning (TGL) has become a prevalent technique across diverse real-world applications, especially in domains where data can be represented as a graph and evolves over time. Although TGL has recently seen notable progress in algorithmic solutions, its theoretical foundations remain largely unexplored. This paper aims at bridging this gap by investigating the generalization ability of different TGL algorithms (e.g., GNN-based, RNN-based, and memory-based methods) under the finite-wide over-parameterized regime. We establish the connection between the generalization error of TGL algorithms and "the number of layers/steps" in the GNN-/RNN-based TGL methods and "the feature-label alignment (FLA) score", where FLA can be used as a proxy for the expressive power and explains the performance of memory-based methods. Guided by our theoretical analysis, we propose Simplified-Temporal-Graph-Network, which enjoys a small generalization error, improved overall performance, and lower model complexity. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. Our theoretical findings and proposed algorithm offer essential insights into TGL from a theoretical standpoint, laying the groundwork for the designing practical TGL algorithms in future studies.

Abstract:Attributed graph clustering (AGC) is an important problem in graph mining as more and more complex data in real-world have been represented in graphs with attributed nodes. While it is a common practice to leverage both attribute and structure information for improved clustering performance, most existing AGC algorithms consider only a specific type of relations, which hinders their applicability to integrate various complex relations into node attributes for AGC. In this article, we propose GRACE, an extended graph convolution framework for AGC tasks. Our framework provides a general and interpretative solution for clustering many different types of attributed graphs, including undirected, directed, heterogeneous and hyper attributed graphs. By building suitable graph Laplacians for each of the aforementioned graph types, GRACE can seamlessly perform graph convolution on node attributes to fuse all available information for clustering. We conduct extensive experiments on 14 real-world datasets of four different graph types. The experimental results show that GRACE outperforms the state-of-the-art AGC methods on the different graph types in terms of clustering quality, time, and memory usage.

Abstract:Motivated by the work of Kumar et al. (On Farey graceful labeling, 2023) that introduced labeling of graphs particularly, paths, cycles, hairy cycles and caterpillars using Farey sequence of order n , for , defined by the set of numbers with and l , m are co-prime placed in increasing order and this labeling was called Farey graceful labeling, we extend this concept to wider range of graphs and show that the graphs , complete bipartite graphs, firecracker trees are all Farey graceful.

Abstract:A graph's edge labeling involves the allocation of symbols (colors or numbers) to the edges of a graph governed by specific criteria. Such labeling of a graph G with order n and size m is named edge odd graceful if there is a bijective map φ from the set of edges E(G)={e1,...,em} to the set {1,3,...,2m−1} in a way that the derived transformation φ* from the vertex-set V(G)={v1,...,vn} to the set {0,1,2,...,2m−1} given by φ*(u)=∑uv∈E(G)φ(uv)mod(2m) is injective. Any graph is named edge odd graceful if it permits an edge odd graceful allocation (Solairaju and Chithra). The primary aim of this study is to define and explore the edge odd graceful labeling of five new families of wheel-related graphs. Consequently, necessary and sufficient conditions for these families to be edge odd graceful are provided.

Mastering Long-Tail Complexity on Graphs: Characterization, Learning, and Generalization

Abstract:In the context of long-tail classification on graphs, the vast majority of existing work primarily revolves around the development of model debiasing strategies, intending to mitigate class imbalances and enhance the overall performance. Despite the notable success, there is very limited literature that provides a theoretical tool for characterizing the behaviors of long-tail classes in graphs and gaining insight into generalization performance in real-world scenarios. To bridge this gap, we propose a generalization bound for long-tail classification on graphs by formulating the problem in the fashion of multi-task learning, i.e., each task corresponds to the prediction of one particular class. Our theoretical results show that the generalization performance of long-tail classification is dominated by the overall loss range and the task complexity. Building upon the theoretical findings, we propose a novel generic framework HierTail for long-tail classification on graphs. In particular, we start with a hierarchical task grouping module that allows us to assign related tasks into hypertasks and thus control the complexity of the task space; then, we further design a balanced contrastive learning module to adaptively balance the gradients of both head and tail classes to control the loss range across all tasks in a unified fashion. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of HierTail in characterizing long-tail classes on real graphs, which achieves up to 12.9% improvement over the leading baseline method in accuracy.

Abstract:A graph G=(V,E) with m edges is graceful if it has a distinct vertex labeling f, a map from V into the set{0,1,2,3,...,m} which induces a distinct edge labeling |f(u)-f(v)| for edges uv in E. The famous Ringel-Kotzig conjecture (1964) is that all trees are graceful. The base of a tree T is obtained from T by deleting its one-degree vertices. A caterpillar is a tree whose base is a path and a lobster is a tree whose base is a caterpillar. Paths and caterpillars are known to be graceful. Next it was conjectured by Bermond (1979) that all lobsters are graceful. In this paper we describe various methods of joining graceful graphs and \alpha-labeled graphs using the adjacency matrix characterization that initiated by Bloom (1979) and others. We apply these results to obtain some classes of graceful lobsters and indicate how to obtain some others.
