Abstract:It was possible to create superhydrophobic nickel-cobalt-plated copper mesh with good stability, oil-water separation capabilities, and corrosion resistance by combining constant-current electrodeposition with low-surface-energy modification. The rough structure needed for superhydrophobic properties is provided by the micro- and nanoscale nickel-cobalt spherical structure. The copper mesh with superhydrophobicity was created by modification with an ethanol stearate solution, and the water contact angle (WCA) of the superhydrophobic nickel-cobalt copper mesh was 158° at the ideal electrodeposition parameter of 30 mA/cm 2 for 35 min. The superhydrophobic Ni-Co plating exhibited strong corrosion resistance in a 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution, with a protection efficacy of 98.65% and a self-corrosion current density of 2.809×10 -7 A/cm 2 , and the contact angle of the plating was 150° after 48 h of immersion, and it still outperformed the substrate in terms of corrosion resistance. The superhydrophobic plated Ni-Co copper mesh had good chemical and mechanical stability and good bonding with the substrate. For various oil-water mixtures, such as hexyl hydride-water, the superhydrophobic copper mesh also performed well in oil-water separation, with high efficiency (93.6%-97.9%) and high flux (20,000-60,000 L·m -2 ·h -1 ). The separation efficiency of hexyl hydride-water mixtures remained greater than 96% even after 50 cycles of use, with stable reusability.
