Abstract:As the ’offbeat groups’ in human society,there are also heterogeneous spaces in the city.Due to the effect of the historical and social events,this kind of space is always so different that can be recognized from the original texture of the city.Heterogeneous spaces possess important?histor ical?significance and cultural value;however,they can only come to revival when some reasonable and creative reforms incorporate them into the new structure of the city.Otherwise,these discordant spaces will inevitably be replaced by the new order and become extinct.This paper took the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site,Germany as an example and analyzed how the reconstruction design accomplished the transformation based on the original spatial logic.According to this case study,further thinking is focused on the potential of heterogeneous spaces to become urban memorial spaces.
