Abstract:With the development of gear pumps towards the direction of high pressure,high flow,and low noise,the paper presents a kind of non-circular gear pumps with low trapped oil and pulsation,and establishes the corresponding pitch-curve mode.By contrasting 3-3 combination with 3-3-3 combination in terms of flow and flow pulsation rate,the 3-3-3 combination is used as the main structure of non-circular gear pump.Coordinate transformation method is used to analyze the non-circular gear tooth profile equation,which provides a theoretical basis for establishing CAD modeling and simulation analysis.A graph is used to directly reflect the different order number convexity judging of non-circular gear,and obtain the conditions for the processing of three-order non-circular gears through the gear hobbing method,thus pointing out the direction for the technical route of non-circular gear processing.

Abstract:A fuel pump is one of the primary vibration sources of torpedoes because the strong structure vibration and fluid vibration come up unavoidably and transfer to the shell during the process of fuel pressurization.To decrease the pump’s vibration,the professional hydraulic system simulation software AMESim was used to build a hydraulic simulation model for the fuel pump whose structure and work principle are very different from the standard swashplat pump. Meanwhile,setting up a dynamic pressure measuring system,the dynamic outlet pressure of the pump was tested and compared with the simulated output pressure.The comparison shows the model is accurate.The simulation about the output pressure,output flow and cylinder pressure corresponding to different distribution angle was performed further by applying the verified model.And an appropriate angle,which can both eliminate the peak pressure and hardly affect the outlet pressure and flow of the pump,was selected.A physical prototype with the satisfying angle was made under the guidance of the simulation.A contrast test shows the vibration of the improved pump is markedly lower than the unimproved one,and the maximum of the difference is about 5 dB.

Abstract:Hydropower has been the leading renewable source and cheapest ways to generate electrical energy in the world. In recent years, there has been a major upsurge in the hydropower development because of the use of pump as turbine (PAT). However, the operational reliability of a PAT is greatly affected by the unsteady flow fields; therefore, it is important to examine the unsteady flow behavior which can be used as a reference to reduce the noise, vibration, and cavitation performance for centrifugal pumps working as turbines. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the unsteady flow fields by analyzing the distribution of the pressure pulsations using both numerical and experimental measurements in a PAT operating in pump mode. Firstly, the three‐dimensional (3D) unsteady flow equations were solved using SST <i>k‐</i>ω turbulence model during the numerical calculations. Secondly, the numerical results of the hydraulic pump performance were validated by the experimental measurements for numerical accuracy. Lastly, pressure transducers are positioned at certain monitoring points to measure the pressure in the PAT investigated. The numerical and experimental results show that the main frequency of the pressure pulsation is equal to the blade frequency, and as it deviates from the design operating condition, the magnitude of pressure pulsation intensifies. Furthermore, the impeller eye marked the lowest pressure coefficients especially at the design condition and makes it highly susceptible to cavitation. High pressure coefficients were obviously seen at the pressure side on the blade surface closer to the trailing edge at all studied operating conditions. Meanwhile, the rotor‐stator interaction generated the highest pressure pulsation distribution at the volute tongue. Thus, modification of the volute tongue is an optimal approach of reducing the pressure pulsation intensity in the volute and pump as a whole.

Abstract:The measurement of closed-circuit variable displacement pump comprehensive performance is an important means to develop new product and guarantee product quality.Based on requirement analysis,an automatic measurement system of comprehensive performance for variable displacement pump was designed and implemented.A closed-circuit is used for variable displacement pump comprehensive performance test.A variety of sensors are used to collect running information data automatically during the testing process.Virtual instrument technique is adopted to realize data processing,analysis,management and measurement process automation.As actual production measurement results showed,the comprehensive performance measurement system has improved test efficiency and precision of experiment course and the intelligent level of the test system.

Abstract:The reciprocating pumps are widely used for transporting fluid in oil field. The flow pulsation and pressure fluctuation in the conventional reciprocating pump with short stroke, high speed and simple harmonic motion of piston driven by crank-connecting rod mechanism are inevitable. For reducing the flow and pressure pulsation, a hydraulic reciprocating pump with the GPCM control by means of normal on-off valve is designed. In order to improve the overall pump performances and life span, fault analysis and optimized design of the pump valve are completed. The mathematical model of the asymmetric cylinder system with PCM valve control used in the hydraulic reciprocating pump is built. The digital simulation about the control system is done, and the result shows that the pulsation of pump discharge flow is improved greatly.

Abstract:An automatic testing and control system for electo-hydraulic proportional displacement pump with computer aided test is designed and developed, including sensor technology, programmable logic controller, industry PC and virtual instrument. The precision of all parameters is assured by speed, pressure and flow closed loop. By using virtual instrument technology, the testing of the over-all properties including static and dynamic characteristics of the electo-hydraulic proportional displacement pump is realized, mainly comprising fundamental performance test, pressure and flow control hysteresis test as well as pressure and flow response test. It turns out to be a higher accurate and efficient test system in practice. During the test, an abnormal output can be detected immediately, at the same time self protection is carried out.

Abstract:Internal gear pumps have significant advantages over other types of pump, such like high operating pressure, efficient transmission of energy, long service life, little pressure ripples and low noise emissions. Due to the nature of water, such as, low viscosity, poor lubricity and high vapour pressure, the performance of water hydraulic internal gear pumps is totally different from the oil ones. Using tap water as working medium, the experiments of internal gear pump are implemented and the performances are obtained. The results indicate the floating plates are the key components of water hydraulic internal gear pumps which decide the efficiency and service life of the pumps. Then, the pressing forces acting on the floating plates and the contact stresses are calculated. Finally, the causes of wear failure of floating plates are investigated and some design principles in water hydraulic internal gear pumps are also proposed.

Abstract:A device for producing pulsating flow named vane-type pulsation generator was designed and experimentally studied. The experimental results demonstrated that pulsation generator, which produced pulsation effects on steady flow could obtain pulsating flow by means of on-and-off periodical flow interrupter. The pulsation effects for this type of pulsating flow generator had little reduction and could transfer along the channel. Pulsation amplitude changing with pulsation frequency was observed. It could impact on the flow velocity to induce pulsation generator to the experimental system. The relationship between pulsation frequency and flow velocity was non-linear.

Abstract:As the core component of pumped storage power station, the pump turbine usually needs to adjust the operating condition point according to the electricity demand during operation. Pressure pulsation is an inevitable phenomenon in the operation of pump turbine, which affects the safe and stable operation of the unit. In this paper, the method of combining numerical simulation and experiment is adopted to carry out three-dimensional full flow channel numerical simulation of the pump turbine by using CFD. The flow pattern and pressure pulsation of the runner and draft tube of the pump turbine were analyzed at the three working conditions of PL (50% maximum load), BEP (70% maximum load) and HL (90% maximum load). It is found that under the three conditions, the pressure pulsation from the leafless area to the downstream of the draft tube shows a weakening trend. Because the flow pattern in the bladed area of the unit is poor, the pressure pulsation in the bladed area is the most obvious. From low load to high load, the pressure pulsation tends to weaken at first and then increase. Combined with flow pattern analysis and vortex analysis, it can be concluded that the number and scale of vortex flow are positively correlated with the pressure pulsation, and the vortex flow inside the unit is an important factor that causes the flow disorder inside the unit, and then becomes an important factor that affects the pressure pulsation inside the pump turbine unit.

Abstract:Pressure pulse of hydraulic system has great influence on the life of hydraulic components.In this paper,a pressure pulse test stand is designed to simulate the trapezium pressure pulse in aircraft hydraulic cylinder when at work.A servo valve is used directly to control the pressure to ensure the accuracy of test curve.The simulation model is built by using AMESim to verify the reliable of designed hydraulic system.The effects of important parameters were discussed which can provide guidance to the pressure pulse test bed.It shows that the rise rate of the pressure pulse curve has close related to the instantaneous flow capacity of the servo valve.

Abstract:The secondary source method is a standard method for precisely testing the hydraulic pump impedance and flow ripple.The precision of test elements and conditions is limited strictly,so the method is difficult to be used in industry.It is assumed that the pump source impedance and the pump source flow rate connected in parallel,the secondary source is introduced for testing the tested pump impedance,and then the flow ripple is computed with reasonable formulation.The test principle and process of secondary source method is investigated,and the flow ripple of the piston pump with complicated pipe is obtained by two different pipe impedances and flow ripples under different dynamic operating conditions.The test principle of the secondary source method for piston pump with complicated pipe is given,and the problem on operating the test is provided at the same time.The weighted linear regression technique is introduced to evaluate the source impedance at corresponding tested pump frequency quickly and accurately.The flow ripple under different pump outlet pressure is given,and the test method is proven to be used to test the flow ripple of the piston pump with complicated pipe in large scale of operating conditions.

Abstract:Abstract The linear conjugate internal gear pump is widely used in the Electro-hydraulic Actuator (EHA) system because of its high efficiency and low noise, especially in the ship domain where vibration and noise requirements are very strict. To find out the reason, the calculation method of flow fluctuation and pressure pulsation at the pump outlet is obtained theoretically. First, the method of obtaining the two characteristic values of pump source flow pulsation Q s and pump source impedance Z s , and the data calculation and processing program are compiled by Matlab. Then the test platform was built, as well as the computer simulation and data collection. According to the theoretical method, the actual flow fluctuation and pressure pulsation at the pump outlet under different working conditions are measured and calculated respectively. The data of each working condition can be summarized and analyzed as: the test platform is reasonable and the data obtained from the test and calculation are reasonable; under the same frequency spectrum, the amplitude corresponding to the fundamental frequency of the motor pump is much larger than that of the pump tooth; under different working conditions, the variation trend of flow fluctuation and pressure pulsation corresponding to the fundamental frequency and the frequency doubling of the internal gear pump is obtained by testing; the specific values are smaller and suitable for the use in a silent system.

Abstract:The current research about the flow ripple of axial piston pump mainly focuses on the effect of the structure of parts on the flow ripple. Therein, the structure of parts are usually designed and optimized at rated working conditions. However, the pump usually has to work in large-scale and time-variant working conditions. Therefore, the flow ripple characteristics of pump and analysis for its test accuracy with respect to variant steady-state conditions and transient conditions in a wide range of operating parameters are focused in this paper. First, a simulation model has been constructed, which takes the kinematics of oil film within friction pairs into account for higher accuracy. Afterwards, a test bed which adopts Secondary Source Method is built to verify the model. The simulation and tests results show that the angular position of the piston, corresponding to the position where the peak flow ripple is produced, varies with the different pressure. The pulsating amplitude and pulsation rate of flow ripple increase with the rise of pressure and the variation rate of pressure. For the pump working at a constant speed, the flow pulsation rate decreases dramatically with the increasing speed when the speed is less than 27.78% of the maximum speed, subsequently presents a small decrease tendency with the speed further increasing. With the rise of the variation rate of speed, the pulsating amplitude and pulsation rate of flow ripple increase. As the swash plate angle augments, the pulsating amplitude of flow ripple increases, nevertheless the flow pulsation rate decreases. In contrast with the effect of the variation of pressure, the test accuracy of flow ripple is more sensitive to the variation of speed. It makes the test accuracy above 96.20% available for the pulsating amplitude of pressure deviating within a range of ±6% from the mean pressure. However, with a variation of speed deviating within a range of ±2% from the mean speed, the attainable test accuracy of flow ripple is above 93.07%. The model constructed in this research proposes a method to determine the flow ripple characteristics of pump and its attainable test accuracy under the large-scale and time-variant working conditions. Meanwhile, a discussion about the variation of flow ripple and its obtainable test accuracy with the conditions of the pump working in wide operating ranges is given as well.

Abstract:The improvement of the overall performance of hydraulic pumps is the basis of intelligent hydraulics. Taking the straight line conjugate internal meshing gear pump as the research object, the theoretical flow rate and the geometric flow pulsation rate equations are established in this study through the volume change method. The change laws of the gear pair’s geometric parameters on the theoretical flow rate and the geometric flow pulsation rate are studied. The simulation model of the internal flow channel is established, and the influence factors and the influence degree of the flow pulsation and average flow rate are analyzed. The high-pressure positive displacement pump test system is also designed and built. The performance evaluations are conducted, and the experimental results are analyzed. The results show that the periodic change of the meshing point position is the root cause of the geometric flow pulsation. The theoretical flow rate and the geometric flow pulsation rate are 103.71 L/min and 1.76%, respectively. To increase the theoretical flow rate whilst decreasing the geometric flow pulsation rate, the tip circle radius of the external gear should be increased as much as possible within the allowable range of the design calculation. Amongst the three influencing factors that produce flow pulsation, the oil compressibility has no effect on the flow pulsation. The uneven internal leakage is the main factor, and the geometric flow pulsation only accounts for a small proportion. The internal leakage reduces the simulated flow rate by 3.59 L/min. The difference between the experimental and simulated flow rates is less than 2%. Within the allowable speed range, the rotation speed of the external gear should be increased as much as possible to increase the average flow rate and the volumetric efficiency.

Abstract:To improve its working performance, the flow ripple characteristics of an axial piston pump were investigated with software which uses computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology. The simulation accuracy was significantly optimized through the use of the improved compressible fluid model. Flow conditions of the pump were tested using a pump flow ripple test rig, and the simulation results of the CFD model showed good agreement with the experimental data. Additionally, the composition of the flow ripple was analyzed using the improved CFD model, and the results showed that the compression ripple makes up 88% of the flow ripple. The flow dynamics of the piston pump is mainly caused by the pressure difference between the intake and discharge ports of the valve plates and the fluid oil compressibility.

Abstract:Vortex pumps have good non-clogging performance and are widely used in the fluid transportation of food, sewage treatment, and mineral and coal slurry transportation. In order to design and manufacture a vortex pump with good performance and establish a method of optimum design, we must master the internal flow rules of the pump. Based on the self-design vortex pump (32WB8-12) experiment, the discharge-pump head (qv-H), discharge-pump shaft power (qv-P), discharge-pump efficiency (qv-η), and discharge-critical net positive suction head (qv-NPSHc) curves are obtained, and the qv-NPSHc curve shows an opposite tendency compared with the centrifugal pump. With the mathematical model selected with respect to the optimal condition, the three-dimensional internal flow within the vortex pump has been numerically simulated by a renormalization group k-ε (RNG k-ε) turbulence model. The static pressure (ps) and velocity distribution of the impeller and the middle section of the volute at 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270° are obtained, and the performance curves have been fitted using a CFX-calculated energy parameter. It was illustrated that the velocity field is relatively disordered and the flow in the impeller region is of a forced vortex character. The flow in the volute is similar to that of the combined vortex with backflow, which is a non-axisymmetric unsteady flow with quite high turbulence intensity. These factors are the main reasons for the relatively low efficiency of the vortex pump. The measurement of flow field in volute with a five-hole probe was conducted, and it is demonstrated that the numerical results are in good agreement with the flow field measurement data. An upward pressure gradient forms in the portal area of the impeller, and it is confirmed that the lowest pressure point is located in the upper position of the impeller hub. It is revealed that for the vortex pump to have advanced suction and anti-cavitation performance, the lowest pressure in the pump should be −4 × 104 Pa and it should be located at the center of the vortex chamber cavity.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to investigate the flow and pressure pulsation characteristics of hydrogen circulation pump under varying pressure differences. A dynamic mesh technology was employed to conduct an unsteady numerical simulation of the interior of the hydrogen pump. The pressure pulsation within the pump cavity area was analyzed using fast Fourier transform, and the unevenness of pressure and flow inside the pump under varying pressure differential conditions was specifically studied. The results reveal that interference between dynamic and static in the pump cavity, caused by meshing clearance between rotors and radial clearance between the rotor and pump cavity, leads to pressure pulsation peaks occurring at twice the rotational frequency at all monitoring points. Additionally, as the pressure difference increases, the exhaust flow rate at the outlet of the pump cavity decreases from 49.237 m3/h to 12.392 m3/h, while volumetric efficiency decreases from 85.95% to 32.3%.

Abstract:In order to assess the performance of hydraulic pumps accurately,provide guidance for optimizing the structure,improve the technological level and upgrade products,the paper designed the hydraulic pump performance test system based on the CAT(Computer Aided Testing) technology.First,by designing the hydraulic principle and selecting components of the driving system,overload system and step-load system,then completed the integral hydraulic principle design of the hydraulic system.By using LabVIEW software and industrial computer,PLC,data acquisition cards as well as various types of sensors to design the software and hardware of the CAT system.The efficiency curves of the testing pump proved that the pump performance test system is reasonable.The application on the hydraulic pump performance test system of CAT technology has improved the automation and intelligent level of the test process as well as the test efficiency and accuracy.
