Abstract:After over forty years' development in an extraordinary speed, the Internet is confronting profoundly different social and economic environments, with the continuously increasing users demands. However, the essence and key designs of the current Internet have remained untouched during the past decades. Over the same years, Internet users have been calling for a better Internet that features significantly improved flexibility, security, mobility and manageability etc. Entering the twenty-first century, researchers from major economies have paid considerable attention to the design and evaluation of the Future Internet, supported by national large-scale efforts such as FIND (Future Internet Design)([1]) in U. S., FIRE (Future Internet Research & Experimentation)([2]) in EU, AKARI in Japan as well as other research programs. Recognizing the significance of those four expected features mentioned before, this paper states a review of major, significant research programs of the Future Internet and presents a brief indication of possible trends in this field.

Abstract:Recent years have witnessed numerous technical breakthroughs in electronics, computing, sensing, robotics, control, signal processing, and communications. These have significantly advanced the state of applications of intelligent transportation systems. More recently, as one leading effort toward the cyber-physical-social system, the concept of intelligent transportation spaces was proposed to further improve the vehicles, traffic, and transportation safety, efficiency and sustainability. ITSp integrate not only various ITS modules, but also pedestrians, vehicles, roadside infrastructures, traffic management centers, sensors, and satellites. With distributed and pervasive intelligence, ITSp clearly impose some stringent requirements on the information exchange among all entities within the ITSp, in terms of the information availability, reliability, fidelity, and timeliness. These requirements, together with the high mobility of vehicles and the highly variable network topology, make the communications and networking for ITSp very challenging. This article will introduce the concept of ITSp and analyze possible communication technology candidates for ITSp. Further discussions will also be provided at the end of this article.

Abstract:Abstract Artificial intelligence has been widely utilized in people’s lives, especially in communication. The article provides a review of the recent research status of the application of artificial intelligence in communication, the usefulness of big data, machine learning, and cloud computation in this field. Several examples of how artificial intelligence is used to communicate are illustrated to discuss better and form a framework of modern artificial intelligence applications. The aspects of concern in ethics of using artificial intelligence are also mentioned, as ethics are the principles judging whether the technologies are suitable for humans to use or not. In order to predict the future development of communication, an introduction of previous progress in the field of communication is provided and sorted into categories of wireless communication, ethical concerns, and network monitor and control. This study confirms that the future development of artificial intelligence is mainly in two aspects: SDN (Software-defined network) and NFV (Network function visualization). AI will thus be used in enhancing communication efficiency.

Abstract:Design intelligence is an important branch of artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on the intelligent models and algorithms in creativity and design. In the context of AI 2.0, studies on design intelligence have developed rapidly. We summarize mainly the current emerging framework of design intelligence and review the state-of-the-art techniques of related topics, including user needs analysis, ideation, content generation, and design evaluation. Specifically, the models and methods of intelligence-generated content are reviewed in detail. Finally, we discuss some open problems and challenges for future research in design intelligence.

Abstract:Data science (DS) devotes to extract useful data from noisy one to form actionable insights. It has broad applications in many domains such as internet search, tourism and social media. However, less systematic studies related to DS have been done in the field of intelligent vehicles (IV). As the size of data in IV becomes more enormous than ever before, it is necessary to give a high-level view on how to utilize DS for achieving better IV. After briefly retrospecting the history of DS, we shed light on the potential and prospects of DS in the IV domain through discussing data management, trusted data, interpretability, high-order relationship of intelligent vehicle data and so on. We also analyze the relationship between DS and several practical intelligent vehicle applications including self-driving system, data visualization, parallel intelligent vehicle system.

Abstract:Intelligent decision (ID) has received a great deal of attention and has been integrated into various fields, such as machine learning, fuzzy inference system, and natural language processing. The advanced technologies have become hot topics and have been made great development and innovations in academic documents. This paper is a comprehensive review in the field of ID based on bibliometric analysis and strategic analysis. First, the descriptive statistics and results are presented, including database, annual publications, research directions, and hotspots. Based on the visualization tools (including VOS viewer, CiteSpace, Bibexcel, and GPS visualizer), from the perspective of the author keyword, the current research topics, and the development evolution are presented. Some bibliometric analysis methods are applied, such as co-occurrence analysis, timeline view analysis, and burst detection analysis. Then, this paper identifies the most influential countries/regions, institutions, and authors. Next, some important themes are further discussed by strategic analysis and overlapping analysis. This paper helps scholars with understanding the development trajectory and statistical model of ID research to promote in-depth exploration.

Abstract:Visual sensing plays an essential role in intelligent vehicles. With the aid of visual sensors, driver assistance systems can alert the driver to dangerous situations or actions (such as swerving out of the lane or disregarding traffic signs or lights), or even independently take control of the vehicle. Currently, research on vehicle vision systems is receiving continuous global interest.This paper discusses some future directions for this field based on trends we observed at the 2008 IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC 08) and the 2009 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IVS 09). Our aim is to attract researchers to several critical questions that are important yet difficult. Solving these problems could be of great benefit to both academia and the vehicle industries.
