Abstract:A catalytic enantioselective addition reaction of silyl enol ethers to ketomalonate in the presence of C-2-symmetric copper(II) bisoxazolines as catalysts is presented; the reaction has been studied for different ligands and substrates under various reaction conditions and proceeds in good yield and with ee's > 90% and a procedure for the preparation of an optically active hydroxy acid is shown.

Abstract:The chiral binaphthol-catalyzed enantioselective conjugate addition of alkenylboronic acids and heteroarylboronic acids to cyclic N-sulfonyl ketimines is reported, providing the 1,4-addition products in high yields and moderate to excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee). This mild, scalable catalytic system exhibits high efficiency and broad substrate scopes. Additionally, arylboronic acids were viable nucleophiles under more forcing conditions.

Abstract:Catalytic enantioselective conjugate additions with easily accessible alkenylboronic acid pinacol esters as nucleophiles promoted by chiral copper complexes of N-heterocyclic carbenes are presented. These processes constitute an unprecedented instance of conjugate additions of a variety of functionalized alkenyl groups and afford desired products that are otherwise difficult to access in up to 98% yield and 99.5:0.5 enantiomeric ratio. The origins of ligand-controlled enantioselectivity are elucidated with density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Abstract:A catalytic enantioselective conjugate addition with commercially available allenylboronic acid pinacol ester as nucleophile promoted by a chiral copper complex of N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) is disclosed. This process constitutes an unprecedented instance of the conjugate addition that introduces an allenyl group into α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, affording products that are otherwise difficult to access in up to 92% yield, >98% allenyl addition selectivity and 96:4 enantiomeric ratio. DFT calculations were performed to elucidate the origins of enantioselectivity.

Abstract:A new protocol has been developed for the formation of C−Se and C−S bonds by the direct selenosulfonylation of alkenes. This protocol is operationally simplistic, has a wide substrate scope, uses readily available seleno and sulfonyl sources, and is amenable to gram-scale synthesis. This reaction represents a significant addition to the limited number of reactions available for the intermolecular selenide difunctionalization of alkenes and would be useful for the synthesis of sulfur- and selenium-containing molecules

Abstract:An enantioselective Michael addition of ketones to alkylidenemalononitriles catalyzed by chiral primary amine I with (R)-5c as a co-catalyst in good yields (>90%) and with good enantioselectivities (85-96% ee) has been developed. The strategy has also been extended to a three-component version through a domino Knoevenagel/Michael sequence with similar or better outcomes.

Abstract:An efficient, organocatalytic enantioselective addition of cyclic diketones with beta,gamma-unsaturated a-keto esters has been developed that affords products in high yields (up to 95 %) and excellent enantioselectivity (up to >99?% ee) under mild conditions with a low catalyst loading (2.5 mol-%). The unsaturated a-keto esters are effectively coordinated and activated through hydrogen bonds with the squaramides and proved to be excellent hydrogen-bond acceptors in this asymmetric organocatalytic reaction. This reaction provides valuable and easy access to chiral Michael adducts, which are important moieties in the skeletons of biological and pharmaceutical molecules.

Abstract:An efficient enantioselective addition of thiols to acyclic trifluoromethyl ketimines has been established by using a bifunctional squaramide catalyst, which was derived from quinine, and the reaction was completed in 5 to 10 min. The construction of chiral tetrasubstituted carbon centers bearing trifluoromethylated N,S-ketals has been achieved in high yields (up to 96% yield) with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee).

The Michael addition products can be obtained in high yields with up to 99 % ee . Abstract:Organoseleniums exhibit a diverse set of biological activities that are pivotal for drug discovery and are widely explored in synthetic chemistry and material science. While many transformations have been developed for non-enantioselective C–Se bond formations, the catalyst-controlled stereoselective preparation of chiral organoseleniums continues to be of considerable challenge. In particular, there are limited studies on the enantioselective seleno-Michael addition reactions to access chiral selenium functional molecules. Here, we disclose a carbene-catalyzed highly enantioselective nucleophilic C–Se bond construction through formal [3 + 3] annulations between selenocarboxamides and bromoenals, affording seleno-thiazinone products with good yields and excellent enantioselectivities. The choice of a weak inorganic base was pivotal to suppressing the unproductive racemization and decomposition of the selenium products. Notably, the catalytically generated chiral selenium-containing heterocyclic products feature remarkable antimicrobial activities that could serve as promising lead scaffolds for further agrochemical development.

Abstract:The first highly enantioselective cyanosilylation of α,α‐dialkoxy ketones enabled by a dual‐reagent catalysis has been developed. With the combination of a chiral bifunctional phosphine‐thiourea and methyl acrylate, the key organophosphorus zwitterion intermediate was generated in situ as a novel Lewis base, which catalyzed the enantioselective cyanosilylation reaction in excellent yields (up to 99 %) with good‐to‐excellent enantioselectivities (up to 94 % ee).

Abstract:By employing CuOAc as the catalyst, we realize a four-component reaction of 1,3-enynes, diselenides, DABCO·(SO2)2, and cycloketone oxime esters, providing facile access to diverse cyanoalkylsulfonylated allenyl selenides in moderate to good yields. This reaction features high functional group tolerance and a broad substrate scope, enabling the regioselective, sequential formation of C-SO2 and C-Se bonds under mild reaction conditions. Moreover, the utility of this methodology is further illustrated through the late-stage functionalization of drug-based molecules.
