Abstract:A novel type of oxime phosphonate was synthesized and used in the intermolecular cascade radical addition reaction of alkenes to access β-aminophosphonates via visible-light-driven N-centered iminyl radical-mediated and redox-neutral selective C-P single-bond cleavage in an active phosphorus radical route. The procedure is characterized by its ability to achieve the construction of Csp3-P and Csp3-N bonds without the requirement for oxidants and bases.

Abstract:On account of the broad utilities of organophosphorus compounds, the development of highly efficient and concise phosphination methods is significantly important and urgent. Herein, we disclose a novel method for the synthesis of phosphorylated heterocycles: versatile intermediate propargylamines serving as a new type of radical acceptors incorporated in P-radicals via a photocatalytic strategy. This reaction proceeds through a cascade phosphinoylation/ cyclization/oxidation/aromatization pathway using readily available starting materials under mild conditions of light with excellent atom economy, catalyzed by AgOAc or fac-Ir(ppy)(3). One of the phosphorylated quinolines was selected, as an example, as an electron-transporting material for fabricating phosphorescence organic light-emitting diodes displaying excellent electroluminescence performances with a maximum external quantum efficiency of 21.9% with negligible efficiency roll-off ratios.

Abstract:The first oxidative C(sp3)-H phosphonylation of tertiary aliphatic amines has been developed. The use of cobalt acetate as a catalyst, N-hydroxyphthalimide as a cocatalyst, and air as an oxidant enabled the conversion of tertiary aromatic and aliphatic amines into α-aminophosphonates in moderate to excellent yields under mild conditions via a cross dehydrogenative coupling reaction.

Abstract:A photocatalyst-and additive-free visible-light-induced alpha-C(sp(3))-H phosphinylation of unactivated ethers involving a C-O bond cleavage with molecular oxygen as the sole oxidant at room temperature has been achieved. This method provides a sustainable access to alpha-hydroxyphosphine oxides in up to 88% yield with good functional group compatibility under mild and neutral conditions (34 examples). Moreover, the subsequent two-step conversion of the resulting dihydroxy diarylphosphine oxides afforded alpha-phosphinylated cyclic ethers in good overall yields (10 examples).

Abstract:A visible-light-induced metal-free catalytic system was developed for the synthesis of arylphosphonates starting from arylhydrazines and trialkylphosphites. By using the inexpensive eosin B as catalyst, substoichiometric amounts of DABCO, and ambient air as oxidant, diverse arylphosphonates were obtained under visible-light irradiation. Notably, this catalytic system is suitable for gram-scale reaction by utilizing sunlight as an illumination source.

Abstract:The various alpha-aminophosphonates have been prepared from tertiary aromatic and aliphatic amines with P(O)H compounds via a tertbutyl hydroperoxide mediated cross-dehydrogenative coupling reaction, eliminating the need for transition-metal catalysts. The oxidation of tertiary amine by tert-butyl hydroperoxide generates an iminium cation intermediate. A further addition of P(O)H compound to iminium cation gives the desired product.

Abstract:Despite remarkable progress in photocatalytic hydrogen atom transfer (HAT)-induced C(sp3)–H functionalization, achieving C(sp3)–H to C(sp3)–P transformation by the HAT process remains highly challenging due to P-reagents’ compatibility issues. α-Aminophosphonic acids have shown great potential in medicinal chemistry, yet their synthesis is hindered by limited substrate scopes, poor functional group tolerance, and reliance on prefunctionalized substrates, restricting their broad applications. Herein, we report photocatalytic HAT-induced α-C(sp3)–H phosphonylation of aliphatic amines, providing rapid access to structurally diverse α-aminophosphonates from abundant amines. Leveraging intramolecular HAT, radical polar crossover, and an Arbuzov-type phosphonylation cascade, the challenges associated with HAT-induced C(sp3)–H to C(sp3)–P transformation were overcome. This protocol features base-free, redox-neutral, and mild conditions and broad scopes, employing amines as limiting reagents, and allows for late-stage phosphonylation of complex drug molecules possessing amine moieties.

Abstract:A novel and efficient method for the synthesis of aryl phosphonates from aryl halides and trialkylphospites via EDA-complex-based photochemistry has been developed. It is demonstrated that aryl radicals, generated from photo-excitation of EDA complex formed by aryl halide and potassium thioacetate, could be intercepted by trialkylphosphite to produce the corresponding aryl phosphonates in moderate to good yields. It should be noted that the reaction is performed at room temperature in the absence of any transition-metal catalyst, oxidant and photocatalyst, exhibiting high efficiency, high selectivity, and operational simplicity.

Abstract:α‐Amino phosphonates are bio‐isosteres of amino acids and have numerous biochemical activities. While they are generally prepared via carbon–phosphorus bond formation using a plethora of methods but using recyclable photo‐catalysts and readily accessible amine and phosphites are not commonly used in synthesis. Herein, we used organo‐soluble MoS2 Quantum Dots (QDs) as an exceptionally efficient nano‐photocatalyst for the synthesis of α‐amino phosphonates. Our approach emphasizes on photocatalysis within organic media, providing a facile and effective method for conducting these intricate organic conversions under mild conditions. This straightforward process harnesses the power of molecular oxygen (O2) as an oxidizing agent. To elaborate, our method is intricately guided by the inherent capability of MoS2 QDs to enter an excited state upon absorption of blue light. This excited state bears appropriate potential energy to initiate the formation of reactive iminium ion species from N‐phenyl benzylamine, thus driving the desired product formation. Mechanistic analysis has also unveiled the pivotal role of MoS2 QDs in generating reactive superoxide radicals from O2 through single electron transfer (SET), underscoring their significance in the process. Remarkably, this photocatalytic transformation furnishes a diverse array of functionalized products, expanding its applicability and potential implications in various contexts

Abstract:An efficient and practical method for the synthesis of alpha,alpha-difluoro-gamma-aminophosphonates through photocatalyzed intermolecular aminodifluoromethylphosphonation of alkenes has been developed. In this reaction, difluoromethylphosphonate is used as an important fluorinated reagent. Furthermore, the mild reaction conditions, simple operation, and broad substrate scope make this protocol very practical and attractive. The derivatization reaction in the synthesis of difluoromethylphosphonated chiral binaphthylamine ligands and alpha,alpha-difluoro-gamma-aminophosphoric acid highlight the applicability of this method.

Abstract:Hydroxyphosphoric acids display the unique biological activities,and they have some attractive prospects as clinical drug moleculars.Herein,a new approach for the synthesis of γ-oxo-phosphonates（the precursor of hydroxyphosphoric acid） has been established through the semipinacol rearrangement tactic involved the photo-induced phosphorus radical process.Most important,this transformation is avoid of the external oxidants,and occurs very well under the sunlight irradiation,meanwhile the γ-oxo-phosphonate was easily derivatized to obtain γ-hydroxyphosphoric acid,thus highlights the synthesis value of this method.

Abstract:Herein, we report a direct phosphorylation of the C(sp3)-H bond of 3,4-dihydroquinoxalin-2(1H)-ones using oxygen as a green oxidant under visible light at room temperature. This transformation was readily accomplished in the absence of metal and photosensitizer to construct new C(sp3)-P bonds and provide a series of phosphonylated dihydroquinoxalin-2-ones in good to excellent yields. This approach opens straightforward and environmentally friendly access to 3-phosphoryl quinoxalin-2-ones derivatives.

Abstract:We have developed a strategy for synthesizing π-conjugated phosphonium salts through visible-light-induced cyclization of aryl phosphines in the presence of air and protonic acid. The mechanism study revealed that this C−H bond activation/cyclization of aryl phosphine reaction was initiated from the homolysis of P-H bond of phosphonium salts, which is induced by visible light. This reaction is transition metal free, exhibits good chemo-selectivity and has a high atomic economy.
