Abstract:In this paper, we study the upper semicontinuity ofthe uniform attractors for the second order nonautonomous lattice systemsdriven almost periodic force with respect tothe coefficient of the second order derivative term under Hausdorffsemidistance. First, we present the existence of uniform attractors for thesecond order nonautonomous lattice systems and the corresponding first order nonautonomous lattice systems under certain conditions, respectively. Then we consider the relationship between these two uniform attractors when the coefficient of the second derivation term tendsto zero. The method is to construct a new set in the phase space of thesecond order lattice systems such that the uniform attractorof the first order lattice system is naturally embedded intothis set as the first component, and prove that the uniform attractors forthe second order nonautonomous lattice system can enter any neighborhood of thisset when the coefficient of the second derivation term is small enough. Finally,we discuss the upper semicontinuity of the uniform attractors of the secondorder nonautonomous lattice systems at any positive coefficient of the secondderivative term.

Abstract:From both microscopic and macroscopic aspects, we study both discrete and random approximations of the global attractor for a nonlocal lattice dynamical system. First, we establish an abstract Taylor expansion and obtain a global attractor for the continuous-time system. Second, for the discrete-time nonlocal lattice equation via the implicit Euler scheme, we prove the existence of numerical attractors for small time-sizes, and establish the upper semicontinuity of the numerical attractors towards the global attractor as the time-size tends to zero, while the abstract Taylor expansion and error estimation play key roles in the proof. Third, for the random nonlocal lattice equation driven by nonlinear colored noise, we show the existence and upper semicontinuity of random attractors towards the global attractor when the noise-size goes to infinity. Fourth, we establish optimal bounds and several continuities of numerical attractors as well as random attractors under the Hausdorff metric.

Abstract:Attractor dynamics is a crucial problem for attractor neural networks, as it is the underling computational mechanism for memory storage and retrieval in neural systems. This brief studies a class of attractor network consisting of linearized threshold neurons, and analyzes global attractors based on a parameterized 2-D model. On the basis of previous results on nondegenerate and degenerate equilibria in mathematics, we further elucidate all possible nontrivial global attractors. Our theoretical result provides precise descriptions on how the changes of network parameters affect the attractors' distribution and landscape, and it may give a feasible solution towards specifying attractors by specifying weights. Simulations are presented to illustrate the theoretical results.

Abstract:We study both numerical and random approximations of the global attractor for the nonlinear Schrodinger lattice equation. First, for a discrete-time Schrodinger lattice equation via the implicit Euler scheme, we prove the existence and upper semicontinuity of numerical attractors towards the global attractor when the time-size tends to zero, while a new Taylor expansion in the Hilbert space plays key role in the proof. Second, we consider the random Schrodinger lattice equation and prove the upper semicontinuity from the random attractor to the global attractor when the noise-coefficient goes to zero. Third, we show the optimal bounds and lower semicontinuity of the three (global, numerical, random) attractors with respect to the external force and dissipative constant, respectively.

Abstract:We prove that the weakly damped nonlinear Schrödinger flow in $L^2(\mathbb{R})$ provides a dynamical system which possesses a global attractor. The proof relies on the continuity of the Schrödinger flow for the weak topology in $L^2(\R)$.

Abstract:We study the random attractors associated with the stochastic fractional Schrödinger equation on $\mathbb{R}^n$. Utilizing the stochastic Strichartz estimates for the damped fractional Schrödinger equation with Gaussian noise, we show the existence and uniqueness of a global solution to the damped stochastic fractional nonlinear Schrödinger equation in $H^{\alpha}(\mathbb{R}^n)$. Furthermore, we demonstrate that this equation defines an infinite-dimensional dynamical system, which possesses a global attractor in $H^{\alpha}(\mathbb{R}^n)$.

Abstract:We consider damped and forced discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equations on the lattice Z . First we establish the existence of a global uniform attractor for the dissipative dynamics of the system. For strong dissipation we prove that the global uniform attractor has a finite fractal dimension and consists of a unique bounded trajectory that is confined to a finite-dimensional subspace of the infinite dimensional phase space, attracting any bounded set in phase space exponentially fast. Afterwards, we establish that for periodic, respectively, quasiperiodic forcing the unique solution is represented by a periodic, respectively, quasiperiodic breather. Notably, quasiperiodic breathers cannot exist in the system without damping and driving. Furthermore, the unique periodic (quasiperiodic) breather solution possesses a finite number of modes and is exponentially stable.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of global attractors for a class of discrete dynamical systems naturally originated from impulsive dynamical systems. We establish sufficient conditions for the existence of a discrete global attractor. Moreover, we investigate the relationship among different types of global attractors, i.e., the attractor of a continuous dynamical system, the attractor of an impulsive dynamical system and the attractor of a discrete dynamical system. Two applications are presented, one involving an integrate-and-fire neuron model, and the other involving a nonlinear reaction-diffusion initial boundary value problem.

Abstract:The set of nonzero external forces for which the zero function is in the global attractor of the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations is shown to be meagre in a Frechet topology. A criterion in terms of a Taylor expansion in complex time is used to characterize the forces in this set. This leads to several relations between certain Gevrey subclasses of C-infinity and a new upper bound for a Gevrey norm of solutions in the attractor, valid in the strip of analyticity in time.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the long term dynamical behavior of a two-dimensional nonlocal diffusion lattice system with delay. First some sufficient conditions for the construction of an exponential attractor are presented for infinite dimensional autonomous dynamical systems with delay. Then, the existence of exponential attractors for the two-dimensional nonlocal diffusion delay lattice system is established by using the new method of tail-estimates of solutions and overcoming the difficulties caused by the nonlocal diffusion operator and the multi-dimensionality.

First, we formulate the problem in an appropriate space and show the existence of global solutions. Then, we prove the existence of a pullback attractor for the associated evolution process. Abstract:We mainly consider the existence of random uniform exponential attractors for Schrödinger lattice systems with quasi-periodic forces and multiplicative white noise. We first give an existence criterion for a random uniform exponential attractor for a jointly continuous non-autonomous random dynamical system (NRDS) defined on the space of infinite sequences with complex-valued components. Then we transfer the considered stochastic Schrödinger lattice system into a random system with random parameters and quasi-periodic forces without white noise through Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process, whose solutions generate a jointly continuous NRDS. Thirdly, we prove the existence of a uniform absorbing random set for this NRDS. Fourthly, we construct a bounded closed random set and verify the Lipschitz continuity of the NRDS on this random set, and next we decompose the difference between two solutions into a sum of two parts including some random variables with bounded expectation. Finally, we obtain the existence of a random uniform exponential attractor for the considered system.

Abstract:In order to inherit numerically the attractor of the (random) reversible Selkov lattice equation, we propose an implicit Euler scheme (IES) in temporal direction to derive the existence of the numerical attractor. We provide a rigorous demonstration of the upper semi-continuous convergence of the numerical attractor to the global attractor when the step size is small enough. Meanwhile, we provide numerical, random, and global attractors with finite-dimensional approximation, thereby obtaining the existence of truncated attractors as the state space dimension tends to infinity. Based on the establishment of existence of random attractor, it is shown that the truncated random attractor converges upper semi-continuously to the truncated global attractor as the intensity of noise goes to zero.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the long‐time behavior of a porous‐elastic system with infinite memory and nonlinear frictional damping. We prove that the dynamical system generated by the solutions of the equations is dissipative, only under the basic conditions (for the well‐posedness) on the memory kernel and the frictional damping . Further, we come up with a condition on , being more general than the usual one (with a positive constant ), under which we prove the asymptotic smoothness and quasi‐stability (the latter needs some stronger condition on ) of the dynamical system. Accordingly, we obtain the existence of a global attractor and show the finite dimensionality of the attractor.

Abstract:In this paper, a more general third-order chaotic system with attraction/repulsion function is introduced on the basis of [Duan et al., 2005]. A gallery of chaotic attractors, bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponent spectra are presented to show the interesting phenomena of the given system. Based on the absolute stability theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI), a simple method of chaos control for the system is proposed and a stabilizing controller is derived such that chaos oscillations of the system disappear and all chaotic trajectories of it are led to certain equilibrium. Numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

Abstract:We study the long-time behaviour of solutions to some classes of fourth-order nonlinear PDEs with non-monotone nonlinearities, which include the Landau--Lifshitz--Baryakhtar (LLBar) equation (with all relevant fields and spin torques) and the convective Cahn--Hilliard/Allen--Cahn (CH-AC) equation with a proliferation term, in dimensions $d=1,2,3$. Firstly, we show the global well-posedness, as well as the existence of global and exponential attractors with finite fractal dimensions for these problems. In the case of the exchange-dominated LLBar equation and the CH-AC equation without convection, an estimate for the rate of convergence of the solution to the corresponding stationary state is given. Finally, we show the existence of a robust family of exponential attractors when $d\leq 2$. As a corollary, exponential attractor of the LLBar equation is shown to converge to that of the Landau--Lifshitz--Bloch equation in the limit of vanishing exchange damping, while exponential attractor of the convective CH-AC equation is shown to converge to that of the convective Allen--Cahn equation in the limit of vanishing diffusion coefficient.
