Abstract:With the continuous development of science and technology, the academic communication of many scholars slowly shifts to the web, and people’s academic communication in social media gradually increases. Traditional metrics have a certain one-sidedness in the evaluation of disciplinary literature and cannot evaluate the impact of literature on the web; while Altmetrics can count how literature is followed and utilized on the web, which is a complement to the traditional measurement methods. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the impact of academic literature based on Altmetrics, and combining it with traditional citation indicators can strengthen the credibility and objectivity of academic evaluation and promote better dissemination and communication of academic results. Against this research background, this paper combed through the most influential articles in the field of library and information science in recent years, analysed the literature on library intelligence in the WOS database, identified current research hotspots in the field of library and information science, and predicted potential research hotspots in the future. This study may provide a reference for the research and development of the discipline.

Abstract:This study examines the literature on AI and libraries, examines the significant roles AI has played recently in industries related to libraries, and briefly describes relevant technical functions and their application characteristics in the library field. It begins with six key technologies: OCR, data mining, natural language processing, face recognition, knowledge mapping, and machine learning, and then makes a thorough analysis of each. Detailed analysis and summary of the results achieved in the practical application of AI, an analytical overview of the business functions related to AI in the library field on the development and reform of libraries and the current application status of various technologies, and the problems that libraries may encounter in the practical implementation of AI-related technologies are pointed out.

Abstract:[Purpose/significance] The advent of the big data era has driven the transformation and upgrading of library reference service model.How to build a smart reference service model from the perspective of “multi-source data-driven” is crucial to the realization of smart library services.[Method/process] The article identifies the similarities and differences between traditional reference advisory services, digital reference advisory services and intelligent reference advisory services.The value of data-driven for reference advisory services is elaborated.The smart reference service model is discussed as consisting of 3 stages: smart perception of user needs, smart advisory service and intelligent push service for users.The optimization of the smart reference service process is realized.The feasibility of this service model is verified by the application example of Nanjing University Library.[Result/conclusion] Strategies and recommendations for the implementation of the smart reference service model are presented.By effectively integrating data, technology and services, this model helps to improve the level and quality of smart reference services in libraries, with a view to providing new ideas and methods for the transformation and upgrading of library reference services.

Abstract:Efforts to involve data science in policy analysis can be traced back decades but transforming analytic findings into decisions is still far from straightforward task. Data-driven decision-making requires understanding approaches, practices, and research results from many disciplines, which makes it interesting to investigate whether data science and policy analysis are moving in parallel or whether their pathways have intersected. Our investigation, from a bibliometric perspective, is driven by a comprehensive set of research questions, and we have designed an intelligent bibliometric framework that includes a series of traditional bibliometric approaches and a novelmethod of charting the evolutionary pathways of scientific innovation, which is used to identify predecessor-descendant relationships in technological topics. Our investigation reveals that data science and policy analysis have intersecting lines, and it can foresee that a cross-disciplinary direction in which policy analysis interacting with data science has become an emergent area in both communities. However, equipped with advanced data analytic techniques, data scientists are moving faster and further than policy analysts. The empirical insights derived fromour research should be beneficial to academic researchers and journal editors in related research communities, as well as policy-makers in research institutions and funding agencies.

Abstract:To explore the factors affecting the use of artificial intelligence generated content (AIGC) by subject librarians through understanding their perceptions of AIGC. Interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA) and technology acceptance model (TAM) were used in semi-structured interviews to explore the external variables of perceived ease of use and perceived usability of AIGC application in subject librarians. The perceptions of subject librarians towards AIGC included performance, risk perceptions, ability enhancement, and affective attitude. Attentions were paid to AIGC's performances in providing customized services, optimizing collection resources and improving cost efficiency. The risk perception involved technical stability, data security, user acceptance and occupational risk, the ability enhancement involved the improvement of personal literacy, innovative ability, and self-confidence through the use of AIGC technology, and the affective attitudes included not only excitement and anticipation for the technical potential of AIGC, but also concerns and skepticism about it, and critical attitudes toward its application in academic settings and the ethical issues it may raise. TAM analysis on the factors affecting the use of AIGC by subject librarians indicates that the external influencing factors of perceived ease of use include personal literacy, innovative ability, self-confidence enhancement and affective attitude; the external influencing factors of perceived usability include precise service, collection resource optimization, cost-effectiveness, technological risk, user acceptance and occupational risk. These factors constitute a theoretical framework for understanding and promoting the acceptance and effective use of AIGC by subject librarians. TAM analysis combined with IPA exploration on the external variables of perceived ease of use and perceived usability of AIGC application can identify the key factors affecting subject librarians' perceptions of AIGC, propose strategies for optimizing librarians' roles, enhancing information recognition ability and privacy protection, thus providing guidance for effective use of AIGC in library.
Perceptions on adopting artificial intelligence and related technologies in libraries: public and academic librarians in North America

Abstract:Purpose This study aims to understand how artificial Intelligence (AI) and related technologies are currently being utilized in public and academic libraries and how librarians perceive the adoption of new technologies in their relative libraries. Design/methodology/approach Using an online survey questionnaire, the authors collected survey responses from both public and academic librarians that were subscribed to information science-centered listservs in North America. The quantitative survey responses ( N = 242) were measured through use of multiple chi-square tests and crosstab analyses. Findings The current use and awareness of AI and related technologies were more reported from academic librarians; however, public librarians' reported perceptions on such technologies were generally more positive. In all, 67% of them responded that AI and related technologies will transform the library's functions, and 68% of librarians reported that they are interested in training. This study discussed the significance of training for preparing librarians for AI and related technologies and the further examination on the role of librarians in the new era. Originality/value This study examined public and academic librarians' perceptions toward the adoption of six emerging technologies which often appear in the LIS literature as well as addressed as the Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.

Detecting the Research Diversity of Researchers in Library and Information Science: an Exploratory Study

Abstract:Metrics have emerged as an important tool for quantitatively evaluating researchers from a variety of perspectives, including research impact, research quality, interdisciplinarity, and cross-disciplinarity. Especially in the field of library and information science, many previous studies have highlighted the characteristics of researchers in this field.However, only a minority of the studies address the aspect of diversity in research topics.The purpose of this study is to (1) evaluate the topic diversity of researchers in library and information science and (2) examine the relationships between the researcher topic diversity and research impact.We propose an indicator to quantify author topic diversity, which we refer to as author topic diversity (ATD).Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) is used to detect topics in the field, while cosine similarity is used to calculate the diversity of research topics in a given researcher's publications.The results show that topic diversity in the field of library and information science varies greatly from author to author.In addition, weak positive correlations are found between the ATD and citation indicators, suggesting that engaging in diversified topics may lead to higher research impact.

Abstract:[Purpose/significance] By reviewing and analyzing the methods and practices, this paper summarized the effects, advantages and disadvantages of the identifying discipline research fronts. This paper clarified the concept of the discipline research fronts and explored the development of frontier analysis services based on multi-source data in libraries.[Method/process] Using literature study and cases study,this paper explored the studies of identifying discipline research fronts by comparative analysis. Then it took two cases of identifying discipline research fronts of Peking University library as examples, explores the connotation, characteristics, indexes and research methods of discipline research frontier analysis service in university library, which provides reference for the development of the services.[Result/conclusion] The results show that the accurate benchmarking of discipline development needs, diversity of data sources, comprehensive analysis of the source data, and comprehensive application of various methods have been significantly improved the effects of the frontier analysis service in the aspects of clarifying the research fields and research directions of each discipline. Which can help to clearly understand, evaluate and judge the future development trend of the disciplines, and provide a useful reference for the layout and resource investment of the disciplines development.

Abstract:ABSTRACTThe application of AI(artificial intelligence) in libraries is not only the result of the development of technology, but also the choice of libraries to improve their service. However, how to better integrate libraries and AI still needs further exploration, and libraries also need guidance in implementing AI technology. This study uses a systematic literature review method to analyze the literature on the application of AI in libraries published before 2023. Based on sorting out the application of AI in libraries, this paper summarizes and analyzes the practice and attitudes of applying AI in libraries. We find that there is a broad prospect of AI applications in libraries, but the current application is scattered and lacks a comprehensive view. There are different attitudes towards the application of AI in libraries and it is important to learn about different views.

Abstract:The general implications of AI for libraries are much discussed in library literature. But while this discussion takes place at the library-wide level, there are also important implications for subject librarians due to the specific uses of AI in different professions and areas of study. These are often overlooked as these specializations tend to publish in subject-specific journals. This article aims to address this research gap by providing a comparison and thematic analysis of this literature. Subject-specific library journals in the areas of law, health sciences, business, and humanities and social sciences were searched to identify relevant journal articles that discussed AI. 131 articles were identified and tagged with at least one category that reflected the nature of the discussion around AI. The following analysis showed that literature related to law had the greatest number of articles by far, though the publishing activity in all disciplines has increased significantly in the last 10 years. This article explores these trends to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the implications for subject-specific library work.

Abstract:New challenges are significantly raising formaking decisions in real-world complicated environments, such as processing large-scale data, recognizing complex relationships, investigating hidden mechanisms, forecasting future trends, and developing models with robustness and adaptability. Bibliometrics, as an effective tool, has provided systematic solutions for analyzing bibliometric data (e.g., research articles, patents, academic proposals, news, and web pages), and thus supporting research policy and strategic management. Further, the rapid development of information technologies, particularly, artificial intelligence and data science techniques, brings evolutionary changes to traditional bibliometrics, as well as its broad applications. For example, large-scale data analytics facilitates citation networks and textual segments to identify emerging topics and discover latent connections among multiple bibliometric sources (Takano and Kajikawa, 2019; Mejia and Kajikawa, 2020; Mejia and Kajikawa, 2021), and network analytics leverage understandings on the topological structure of bibliometric networks to enable new angles for evaluating science, technology, and innovation (Zhang et al., 2021a, 2021b). This topic aims to explore the ways of fully facilitating the power of advanced analytics to enhance its capability in decision support for research policy and strategic management in scalable, uncertain and complicated environments in the real world. Targeting to broad issues in science, technology and innovation (ST&I) studies, this topic emphasizes the development and applications of advanced analytic approaches that provide transparent, explainable, and evaluable evidence for decision making. The topic also aims to focus on roles of analytics in decision making processes. Despite recent advancement of analytical technologies, there are still unfulfilled gaps among data, evidence, decision support and decision making. We also seek effective organizational methods and protocols to promote adaptation of advanced analytics. This cutting-edge topic is to spearhead a crossdisciplinary direction crossing disciplines such as information science, computer science, and broad business disciplines.We expect the topic will create fundamental theories, conceptual methodologies, and practical toolkits for advancing studies and practices in research policy and strategic management.

Abstract:Abstract In the information age, the rapid development of computer network technology and artificial intelligence technology has created conditions for the development of traditional libraries to digital libraries. While computer network technology and artificial intelligence technology continue to promote the development of digital libraries, library network security issues also arise. The purpose of this paper is to explore the application analysis of artificial intelligence technology in library network security. This article puts forward the problem of library network system security, describes the concept and characteristics of library network system security, and aims at the basic factors affecting the security of digital library network system, constructs artificial intelligence-based books from the perspective of management and technology Preventive mechanism for library network system security. In terms of situation prediction, this article uses artificial intelligence technology and analytic hierarchy process to evaluate the network security situation. This method can quickly extract parameters and can quickly evaluate the current network, thereby improving the real-time performance of the situation assessment. The optimized support vector machine method overcomes the subjectivity of support vector machine parameter selection, thereby improving the prediction accuracy of the network security situation. The simulation experiment verifies that the optimized support vector machine prediction model has a higher value for the network security situation. Forecast accuracy. Experimental research shows that the PSO-SVR prediction model used in this article can predict the future situation value relatively closely, help library management network administrators analyze the future network situation, and prompt library management network administrators to adjust defense strategies in time based on threat assessment to maintain library management network Safe and healthy operation.

Abstract:Intelligence service model (ISM) plays a key role in emergency decision-makings (EDM). So, how will it be changed to better support those unconventional emergency decisions based on “scenario-response” paradigm? To solve it, the paper firstly analyzes the relationships between two main chains in EDM which are named “scenarios chain” and “decision-making chain”, and adopts a “target-centric” intelligence process to establish a new ISM. Then, an example of “Songhua river water pollution incident” in China is taken to further explain the operation mechanism of this model. Finally, suggestions are promoted from three aspects - intelligence theory, intelligence culture and intelligence resources. The study is to provide a new perspective for the development of theory and practice in emergency intelligence services.
