Abstract:This paper is concerned with the Hamiltonian elliptic system in dimension two\begin{equation*}\aligned \left\{ \begin{array}{lll} -\epsilon^2\Delta u+V(x)u=g(v)\ & \text{in}\quad \mathbb{R}^2,\\ -\epsilon^2\Delta v+V(x)v=f(u)\ & \text{in}\quad \mathbb{R}^2, \end{array}\right.\endaligned \end{equation*} where $V\in C(\mathbb{R}^2)$ has local minimum points, and $f,g\in C^1(\mathbb{R})$ are assumed to be of exponential growth in the sense of Trudinger-Moser inequality. When $V$ admits one or several local strict minimum points, we show the existence and concentration of single-peak and multi-peak semiclassical states respectively, as well as strong convergence and exponential decay. In addition, positivity of solutions and uniqueness of local maximum points of solutions are also studied. Our theorems extend the results of Ramos and Tavares [Calc. Var. 31 (2008) 1-25], where $f$ and $g$ have polynomial growth. It seems that it is the first attempt to obtain multi-peak semiclassical states for Hamiltonian elliptic system with exponential growth.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a class of nonlinear Choquard type equations involving a general nonlinearity. By using the method of penalization argument, we show that there exists a family of solutions having multiple concentration regions which concentrate at the minimum points of the potential $V$. Moreover, the monotonicity of $f(s)/s$ and the so-called Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition are not required.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the following elliptic problem: {(-Delta)(m)u = u(+)(m)*(-1) + lambda u - s(1)phi(1), in B-1, u is an element of D-0(m,2) (B-1), (P) where (-Delta)(m) is the polyharmonic operator, m* = 2N/N-2m is the critical Sobolev embedding exponent. B-1 is the unit ball in R-N, s(1) and lambda > 0 are parameters, phi(1) > 0 is the eigenfunction of (-Delta)(m), D-0(m,2) (B-1) corresponding to the first eigenvalue lambda(1) with max(y is an element of B1)phi(1)(y)=1, u(+)=max(u,0). By using the Lyapunov-Schimit reduction method combining with the minimax argument, we construct the solutions to (P) with many peaks near the boundary but not on the boundary of the domain. Moreover, we prove that the number of solutions for the problem (P) is unbounded as the parameter tends to infinity, therefore proving the Lazer-McKenna conjecture for the higher order case with critical growth.

Abstract:We consider the following elliptic system with Neumann boundary: \begin{equation} \begin{cases} -\Delta u + \mu u=v^p, &\hbox{in } \Omega, \\-\Delta v + \mu v=u^q, &\hbox{in } \Omega, \\\frac{\partial u}{\partial n} = \frac{\partial v}{\partial n} = 0, &\hbox{on } \partial\Omega, \\u>0,v>0, &\hbox{in } \Omega, \end{cases} \end{equation} where $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^N$ is a smooth bounded domain, $\mu$ is a positive constant and $(p,q)$ lies in the critical hyperbola: $$ \dfrac{1}{p+1} + \dfrac{1}{q+1} =\dfrac{N-2}{N}. $$ By using the Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction technique, we establish the existence of infinitely many solutions to above system. These solutions have multiple peaks that are located on the boundary $\partial \Omega$. Our results show that the geometry of the boundary $\partial\Omega,$ especially its mean curvature, plays a crucial role on the existence and the behaviour of the solutions to the problem.

Abstract:We provide a precise description of the set of normalized ground state solutions (NGSS) for the class of elliptic equations: $$ -\Delta u - \lambda u + V (| x |) u - f (| x |, u) = 0,\quad\text{in}\quad \mathbb{R}^n,\ n\geq 1. $$ In particular, we show that under suitable assumptions on $V$ and $f$, the NGSS is unique for all the masses except for at most a finite number. Moreover, we prove that when unique, the NGSS $u_c$ is a smooth function of the mass $c.$ Our method is as follow: using the NGSS for a given mass $c$, we construct an exhaustive list of potential candidates to the minimization problem for masses close to $c$, and we develop a strategy how to pick the right one. In particular, if there is a unique NGSS for a given mass $c_0,$ then this uniqueness property is inherited for all the masses $c$ close to $c_0.$ Our method is general and applies to other equations provided that some key properties hold true.

Abstract:In this article, we study the following nonlinear Schrödinger system with the constraint ∫ R 4 ( u 1 2 + u 2 2 ) d x = 1 , where α > 0 and α > β , μ ∈ R , V 1 ( x ) , and V 2 ( x ) are bounded functions. Under some mild assumptions on V 1 ( x ) and V 2 ( x ) , we prove the existence of normalized peak solutions by using the finite dimensional reduction method, combined with the local Pohozaev identities. Because of the interspecies interaction between the components, we aim to obtain some new technical estimates.

Abstract:In this manuscript, we consider the logarithmic Schrödinger equation \begin{eqnarray*} -\varepsilon^2\Delta u+V(x)u=u\log u^{2},\,\,\,u>0, & \text{in}\,\,\,\mathbb{R}^{N}, \end{eqnarray*} where $N\geq3$, $\varepsilon>0$ is a small parameter. Under some assumptions on $V(x)$, we show the existence of positive multi-peak solutions by Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction. It seems to be the first time to study singularly perturbed logarithmic Schrödinger problem by reduction. And here using a new norm is the crucial technique to overcome the difficulty caused by the logarithmic nonlinearity. At the same time, we consider the local uniqueness of the multi-peak solutions by using a type of local Pohozaev identities.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence of multiple normalized solutions to the following class of elliptic problems \begin{align*} \left\{ \begin{aligned} &-\epsilon^2\Delta u+V(x)u=\lambda u+f(u), \quad \quad \hbox{in }\mathbb{R}^N, &\int_{\mathbb{R}^{N}}|u|^{2}dx=a^{2}\epsilon^N, \end{aligned} \right. \end{align*} where $a,\epsilon>0$, $\lambda\in \mathbb{R}$ is an unknown parameter that appears as a Lagrange multiplier, $V:\mathbb{R}^N \to [0,\infty)$ is a continuous function, and $f$ is a continuous function with $L^2$-subcritical growth. It is proved that the number of normalized solutions is related to the topological richness of the set where the potential $V$ attains its minimum value. In the proof of our main result, we apply minimization techniques, Lusternik-Schnirelmann category and the penalization method due to del Pino and Felmer.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the nonlinear Neumann problem (Pε): −Δu+V(x)u=K(x)u(n+2)/(n−2)−ε, u>0 in Ω, ∂u/∂ν=0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a smooth bounded domain in Rn, n≥4, ε is a small positive real, and V and K are non-constant smooth positive functions on Ω ̄. First, we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions for (Pε) which blow up at interior points as ε moves towards zero. In particular, we give the precise location of blow-up points and blow-up rates. This description of the interior blow-up picture of solutions shows that, in contrast to a case where K≡1, problem (Pε) has no interior bubbling solutions with clustered bubbles. Second, we construct simple interior multi-peak solutions for (Pε) which allow us to provide multiplicity results for (Pε). The strategy of our proofs consists of testing the equation with vector fields which make it possible to obtain balancing conditions which are satisfied by the concentration parameters. Thanks to a careful analysis of these balancing conditions, we were able to obtain our results. Our results are proved without any assumptions of the symmetry or periodicity of the function K. Furthermore, no assumption of the symmetry of the domain is needed.

Abstract:The detection of insufficiently resolved or ill-conditioned integrand structures is critical for the reliability assessment of the quadrature rule outputs. We discuss a method of analysis of the profile of the integrand at the quadrature knots which allows inferences approaching the theoretical 100% rate of success, under error estimate sharpening. The proposed procedure is of the highest interest for the solution of parametric integrals arising in complex physical models.

The nonlinearity $f \in C\left ( \mathbb{R}, \, \mathbb{R} \right )$ is allowed to be mass-subcritical, mass-critical and mass-supercritical at origin and infinity. Via a dual approach, the fixed point index and a global branch approach, we establish the existence of normalized solutions to the problem above. The results extend previous results by L. Jeanjean, J. J. Zhang and X.X. Zhong to the quasilinear case.

The standard approach based on the Pohozaev identity to obtain normalized solutions is invalid as the presence of potential. Besides, Our study can be regarded as a Sobolev critical case complement of Bartsch-Qi-Zou (Math Ann 390, 4813-4859, 2024), which has addressed an open problem raised in Bartsch et al.(Commun Partial Differ Equ 46(9):1729-1756,2021).

Abstract:In this article, we study the following Kirchhoff equation with combined nonlinearities: where a , b , c > 0 , μ , λ ∈ R , 2 < q < 4 . Under different assumptions on b , c > 0 and μ ∈ R , we prove some existence, nonexistence, and asymptotic behavior of the obtained normalized solutions. When μ > 0 :(i) for 2 < q < 3 , we obtain the existence of a local minimizer ground-state solution and a mountain-pass-type solution, (ii) for q = 3 and 3 < q < 4 , we obtain the existence of a mountain-pass type ground-state solution respectively, under different assumptions. When μ < 0 and 2 < q < 4 , we prove the nonexistence result of the aforementioned problem. We also investigate the asymptotic behavior of the normalized ground-state solutions, when μ → 0 + and b → 0 + , respectively.
