Abstract:Although CT is the preferred method for detecting lung nodules, its slow acquisition, susceptibility to breathing and cardiac movements, and limited soft tissue and water content in the lung tissue contribute to a low signal-to-noise ratio, [ 1 ] significantly limiting its use. Lung magnetic resonance imaging has garnered increasing attention for the diagnosis and characterization of lung lesions. [ 2 , 3 ] Recent studies have demonstrated its ability to detect lung lesions and provide more information about their heterogeneity than CT owing to its higher intrinsic soft tissue contrast. [ 4 ] However, the role of MRI, including diffusion-weighted imaging, in nodule evaluation remains unclear, with conflicting results. [ 5 ]
