Abstract:Interfacial polarizations might provide important contributions to increase the dielectric constant/polarization of polymer-based nanocomposites, however, with the enhanced interfacial polarization, the insulation (interfacial barriers) and charge–discharge energy efficiency of nanocomposites might be greatly reduced. Therefore, how to balance the coupling effects of interfacial polarizations and interfacial barriers needs to be systematically investigated for optimizing the energy storage performances of nanocomposites. In this study, hierarchical x wt% BT@ST nanofibers with various weight fraction of BaTiO 3 nanoparticles are designed and prepared. Through regulating the weight fraction of BaTiO 3 nanoparticles, the coupling effects of internal interfacial polarizations and interfacial barriers have been explored and optimized, achieving an excellent energy storage performance. For example, the 2 wt% BT@ST/P(VDF-HFP) nanocomposite provides the highest discharged energy density of 17.4 J/cm 3 and charge–discharge energy efficiency of 66% at 453 MV/m due to the simultaneously improved polarization and breakdown strength. The regulation of internal interfacial polarizations and interfacial barriers of hierarchical fillers provide a new approach to design and prepare polymer-based nanocomposites with satisfactory energy storage performances at low filler fraction.
