Abstract:An orientation-preserving non-contractible separatrix loop of a hyperbolic saddle of a vector field on a two-dimensional surface may be accumulated by a separatrix of the same saddle. We study the unfolding of such loops in generic one-parameter families of vector fields as a semi-local bifurcation. As a byproduct, we construct a countable family of pairwise non-equivalent germs of bifurcation diagrams that appear in locally generic one-parameter families.

Abstract:Let k be a local field of characteristic zero.Let π be an irreducible admissible smooth representation of GL 2 n (k).We prove that for all but countably many characters χ’s of GL n (k) ×GL n (k),the space of χ-equivariant(continuous in the archimedean case) linear functionals on π is at most one dimensional.Using this,we prove the uniqueness of twisted Shalika models.

Abstract:We initiate a systematic study of one-loop integrals by investigating the connection between their singularity structures and geometric configurations in the projective space associated to their Feynman parametrization. We analyze these integrals by two recursive methods, which leads to two independent algebraic algorithms that determine the symbols of any one-loop integrals in arbitrary spacetime dimensions. The discontinuities of Feynman diagrams are shown to arise from taking certain "spherical contour" residues in Feynman parameter space, which is geometrically interpreted as a projection of the quadric surface (associated to the Symanzik polynomial at one loop) through faces of the integration region (which is a simplex). This geometry also leads to a manifestly Lorentz-invariant understanding for perturbative unitarity at one loop.

Abstract:We extend our family rigidity and vanishing theorems in [LiuMaZ] to the Spin c case.In particular, we prove a ^-theory version of the main results of [H], [Liul, Theorem B] for a family of almost complex manifolds.0. Introduction.Let M, B be two compact smooth manifolds, and TT : M -» B be a smooth fibration with compact fibre X.Let TX be the relative tangent bundle.Assume that a compact Lie group G acts fiberwise on M, that is, the action preserves each fiber of TT.Let P be a family of G-equivariant elliptic operators along the fiber X.Then the family index of P, Ind(P), is a well-defined element in K(B) (cf.[AS]) and is a virtual G-representation (cf.[LiuMal]).We denote by (Ind(P)) G £ K(B) the G-invariant part of Ind(P).A family of elliptic operator P is said to be rigid on the equivariant Chern character level with respect to this G-action, if the equivariant Chern character ch 5 (Ind(P)) G H*(B) is independent of g G G. Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a class of twisted matrix algebras of $M_2(E)$ and twisted direct products of $E\times E$ for an algebra $E$. Let $A$ be a noetherian Koszul Artin-Schelter regular algebra, $z\in A_2$ be a regular central element of $A$ and $B=A_P[y_1,y_2;\sigma]$ be a graded double Ore extension of $A$. We use the Clifford deformation $C_{A^!}(z)$ of Koszul dual $A^!$ to study the noncommutative quadric hypersurface $B/(z+y_1^2+y_2^2)$. We prove that the stable category of graded maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over $B/(z+y_1^2+y_2^2)$ is equivalent to certain bounded derived categories, which involve a twisted matrix algebra of $M_2(C_{A^!}(z))$ or a twisted direct product of $C_{A^!}(z)\times C_{A^!}(z)$ depending on the values of $P$. These results are presented as skew versions of Knörrer's periodicity theorem. Moreover, we show $B/(z+y_1^2+y_2^2)$ may not be a noncommutative graded isolated singularity even if $A/(z)$ is.

Abstract:We define isoclinism of skew braces and present several applications. We study some properties of skew braces that are invariant under isoclinism. For example, we prove that right nilpotency is an isoclinism invariant. This result has application in the theory of set‐theoretic solutions to the Yang–Baxter equation. We define isoclinic solutions and study multipermutation solutions under isoclinism.

Synchronization in minimal iterated function systems on compact manifolds

Abstract:We treat synchronization for iterated function systems generated by diffeomorphisms on compact manifolds. Synchronization here means the convergence of orbits starting at different initial conditions when iterated by the same sequence of diffeomorphisms. The iterated function systems admit a description as skew product systems of diffeomorphisms on compact manifolds driven by shift operators. Under open conditions including transitivity and negative fiber Lyapunov exponents, we prove the existence of a unique attracting invariant graph for the skew product system. This explains the occurrence of synchronization. The result extends previous results for iterated function systems by diffeomorphisms on the circle, to arbitrary compact manifolds.

Linearizations of periodic point free distal homeomorphisms on the annulus

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{A}$ be an annulus in the plane $\mathbb R^2$ and $g:\mathbb{A}\rightarrow \mathbb{A}$ be a boundary components preserving homeomorphism which is distal and has no periodic points. In \cite{SXY}, the authors show that there is a continuous decomposition $\mathcal P$ of $\mathbb{A}$ into $g$-invariant circles such that all the restrictions of $g$ on them share a common irrational rotation number (also called the rotation number of $g$) and all these circles are linearly ordered by the inclusion relation on the sets of bounded components of their complements in $\mathbb R^2$. In this note, we show that if the decomposition $\mathcal P$ above has a continuous section, then $g$ can be linearized, that is it is topologically conjugate to a rigid rotation on $\mathbb{A}$. For every irrational number $\alpha\in (0, 1)$, we show the existence of such a distal homeomorphism $g$ on $\mathbb{A}$ that it cannot be linearized and its rotation number is $\alpha$.

Linear Loop Synthesis for Quadratic Invariants

Abstract:Invariants are key to formal loop verification as they capture loop properties that are valid before and after each loop iteration. Yet, generating invariants is a notorious task already for syntactically restricted classes of loops. Rather than generating invariants for given loops, in this paper we synthesise loops that exhibit a predefined behaviour given by an invariant. From the perspective of formal loop verification, the synthesised loops are thus correct by design and no longer need to be verified. To overcome the hardness of reasoning with arbitrarily strong invariants, in this paper we construct simple (non-nested) while loops with linear updates that exhibit polynomial equality invariants. Rather than solving arbitrary polynomial equations, we consider loop properties defined by a single quadratic invariant in any number of variables. We present a procedure that, given a quadratic equation, decides whether a loop with affine updates satisfying this equation exists. Furthermore, if the answer is positive, the procedure synthesises a loop and ensures its variables achieve infinitely many different values.

Abstract:The procedure of double extension of vector spaces endowed with non-degenerate bilinear forms allows us to introduce the class of generalized $\mbK$-oscillator algebras over any arbitrary field $\mbK$. Starting from basic structural properties of such algebras and the canonical forms of skew-adjoint endomorphisms, we will proceed to classify the subclass of quadratic nilpotent algebras and characterize those algebras in the class with quadratic dimension 2. This will enable us to recover the well-known classification of real oscillator algebras, also known as Lorentzian algebras, given by Alberto Medina in 1985.

Representations of skew braces

Abstract:In this paper, we explore linear representations of skew left braces, which are known to provide bijective non-degenerate set-theoretical solutions to the Yang--Baxter equation that are not necessarily involutive. A skew left brace $(A, \cdot, \circ)$ induces an action $\lambda^{\op}: (A, \circ) \to \Aut (A, \cdot)$, which gives rise to the group $\Lambda_{A^{\op}} = (A, \cdot) \rtimes_{\lambda^{\op}} (A, \circ)$. We prove that if $A$ and $B$ are isoclinic skew left braces, then $\Lambda_{A^{\op}}$ and $\Lambda_{B^{\op}}$ are also isoclinic under some mild restrictions on the centers of the respective groups. Our key observation is that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the set of equivalence classes of irreducible representations of $(A, \cdot, \circ)$ and that of the group $\Lambda_{A^{\op}}$. We obtain a decomposition of the induced representation of the additive group $(A, \cdot)$ and of the multiplicative group $(A, \circ)$ corresponding to the regular representation of the group $\Lambda_{A^{\op}}$. As examples, we compute the dimensions of the irreducible representations for several skew left braces with prime power orders.

Abstract:We consider skew products $$T_\phi:X\times G\to X\times G,~~(x,g)\mapsto(F_1(x),g\;\!\phi(x)),$$ where $X$ is a compact manifold with probability measure, $G$ a compact Lie group with Lie algebra $\frak g$, $F_1:X\to X$ the time-one map of a measure-preserving flow, and $\phi\in C^1(X,G)$ a cocycle. Then, we define the degree of $\phi$ as a suitable function $P_\phi M_\phi:X\to\frak g$, we show that it transforms in a natural way under Lie group homomorphisms and under the relation of $C^1$-cohomology, and we explain how it generalises previous definitions of degree of a cocycle. For each finite-dimensional irreducible representation $\pi$ of $G$, and $\frak g_\pi$ the Lie algebra of $\pi(G)$, we define in an analogous way the degree of $\pi\circ\phi$ as a suitable function $P_{\pi\circ\phi}M_{\pi\circ\phi}:X\to\frak g_\pi$. If $F_1$ is uniquely ergodic and the functions $\pi\circ\phi$ diagonal, or if $T_\phi$ is uniquely ergodic, then the degree of $\phi$ reduces to a constant in $\frak g$ given by an integral over $X$. As a by-product, we obtain that there is no uniquely ergodic skew product $T_\phi$ with nonzero degree if $G$ is a connected semisimple compact Lie group. Next, we show that $T_\phi$ is mixing in the orthocomplement of the kernel of $P_{\pi\circ\phi}M_{\pi\circ\phi}$, and under some additional assumptions we show that $U_\phi$ has purely absolutely continuous spectrum in that orthocomplement if $(iP_{\pi\circ\phi}M_{\pi\circ\phi})^2$ is strictly positive. Summing up these results for each $\pi$, one obtains a global result for the mixing and the absolutely continuous spectrum of $T_\phi$. As an application, we present four explicit cases: when $G$ is a torus, $G=SU(2)$, $G=SO(3,\mathbb R)$, and $G=U(2)$. In each case, the results we obtain are new, or generalise previous results. Our proofs rely on new results on positive commutator methods for unitary operators.

Abstract:In this paper we prove symmetry results for classical solutions of nonlinear cooperative elliptic systems in a ball or in annulus in $\RN$, $N \geq 2 $. More precisely we prove that solutions having Morse index $j \leq N $ are foliated Schwarz symmetric if the nonlinearity is convex and a full coupling condition is satisfied along the solution.

Abstract:Skew bracoids have been shown to have applications in Hopf-Galois theory. We show that a certain family of skew bracoids correspond bijectively with left cancellative semibraces. A consequence of this correspondence is that skew bracoids in this family can be used to obtain and study solutions of the set-theoretic Yang--Baxter equation; we study this process and the resulting solutions. We give numerous examples of skew bracoids satisfying our hypothesis, drawing upon a variety of constructions in the literature.

Abstract:For a family of skew product endomorphisms on closed surface $f_{\phi}(x,y)=\big(l x\ , \ y+\phi(x)\big)$, where $l\in \mathbb{N}_{\geq 2}$ and $\phi: S^1\to \mathbb{R}$ is a $C^r\ (r>1)$ function, we get a dichotomy on the cohomology class of $\phi$ and the $C^1$-stable ergodicity of $f_{\phi}$, where the perturbation may not be a skew product endomorphism.

Iteration of Cox rings of klt singularities

Abstract:In this article, we study the iteration of Cox rings of klt singularities (and Fano varieties) from a topological perspective. Given a klt singularity (X,Δ;x) , we define the iteration of Cox rings of (X,Δ;x) . The first result of this article is that the iteration of Cox rings Cox(k)(X,Δ;x) of a klt singularity stabilizes for k large enough. The second result is a boundedness one, we prove that for an n ‐dimensional klt singularity (X,Δ;x) , the iteration of Cox rings stabilizes for k⩾c(n) , where c(n) only depends on n . Then, we use Cox rings to establish the existence of a simply connected factorial canonical (or scfc) cover of a klt singularity, with general fiber being an extension of a finite group by an algebraic torus. The scfc cover generalizes both the universal cover and the iteration of Cox rings. We prove that the scfc cover dominates any sequence of quasi‐étale finite covers and reductive abelian quasi‐torsors of the singularity. We characterize when the iteration of Cox rings is smooth and when the scfc cover is smooth. We also characterize when the spectrum of the iteration coincides with the scfc cover. Finally, we give a complete description of the regional fundamental group, the iteration of Cox rings, and the scfc cover of klt singularities of complexity one. Analogous versions of all our theorems are also proved for Fano‐type morphisms. To extend the results to this setting, we show that the Jordan property holds for the regional fundamental group of Fano‐type morphisms.

Abstract:Loop invariants are software properties that hold before and after every iteration of a loop. As such, invariants provide inductive arguments that are key in automating the verification of program loops. The problem of generating loop invariants; in particular, invariants described by polynomial relations (so called polynomial invariants), is therefore one of the hardest problems in software verification. In this paper we advocate an alternative solution to invariant generation. Rather than inferring invariants from loops, we synthesise loops from invariants. As such, we generate loops that satisfy a given set of polynomials; in other words, our synthesised loops are correct by construction. Our work turns the problem of loop synthesis into a symbolic computation challenge. We employ techniques from algebraic geometry to synthesise loops whose polynomial invariants are described by pure difference binomials. We show that such complex polynomial invariants need ``only'' linear loops, opening up new venues in program optimisation. We prove the existence of non-trivial loops with linear updates for polynomial invariants generated by pure difference binomials. Importantly, we introduce an algorithmic approach that constructs linear loops from such polynomial invariants, by generating linear recurrence sequences that have specified algebraic relations among their terms.

Abstract:We prove that the Lyapunov exponent of quasi-periodic cocyles with singularities behaves continuously over the analytic category. We thereby generalize earlier results, where singularities were either excluded completely or constrained by additional hypotheses. Applications are one-parameter families of analytic Jacobi operators, such as extended Harper's model describing crystals subject to external magnetic fields.
