Abstract:MPLS is one of most important technology for future network. This paper presents the details of MPLS-Linux, a Linux Based MPLS engine, which includes the architecture, data structure, switch routing algorithm and QoS control mechanism. By analyzing the results of MPLS-Linux performance measurement, it is stated that the key factors of adopting MPLS into real network include efficient end-to-end signaling mechanism with multicast ability, fault tolerance mechanism and traffic engineering mechanism.

Abstract:This paper presents the details of MPLS-Linux, including its architecture, data structure, label switching and QoS provisioning. By measuring and analyzing the performance of packet stream over LSP made up by MPLS-Linux, it is found that service quality of LSP is better than that of IP routing if load on router is low or end-to-end bandwidth reservation has been implemented, while LSP is more sensible to load on router than traditional routing system. MPLS must be used in company with policy based routing and packet classification to provide end-to-end QoS service in Internet environment.

Abstract:The notion of service level agreements (SLA) has been proposed to capture qualitatively and quantitatively defined performance contracts between service providers and their customers. How to provision satisfiable connections for customers according to their SLA parameters to avoid penalty as well as minimizing cost is one of the main concerns for a service provider. Connection reliability and restoration time are two important SLA parameters for a customer, and should be carefully considered in survivable wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) networks. A sound scheme should guarantee customers' reliability and reduce restoration time while benefiting a service provider in resource efficiency. Under the SLA constraints and the assumption of single link failure, we first investigate a partial link-disjoint protection (PLDP) and analyze its availability and average restoration time. We then propose a dynamic constraint shared path protection (DCSP) algorithm in WDM mesh networks. Based on the basic ideas of the K-shortest path algorithm and PLDP, DCSP can provide differentiated services for customers according to their SLA parameters while being favorable for reducing average restoration time and optimizing resource utilization. Simulation results show that DCSP can efficiently guarantee the specific SLA requirements of customers with a slight increase in the blocking probability while still achieving spare resource sharing and restoration time optimizations.

Abstract:Specification and description language (SDL) is an object-oriented formal language defined as a standard by ITU-T. Though SDL is mainly used in describing communication protocols, it is an efficient way to simulate the network performance with SDL tools according to our experience. This paper presents our methodology of SDL-based network performance simulation in such aspects as the simulation platform, the simulation modes and the integrated simulation environment. Note that Telelogic Tau 4.3 SDL suite is used here as the simulation environment though our methodology isn't limited to the software. Finally the SDL-based open shortest path first (OSPF) performance simulation in the wireless private network is illustrated as an example of our methodology, which indicates that SDL is indeed an efficient language in the area of the network performance simulation.

Facing the progress and status of the convergence of the three-networks, This document presents a distributed and SIP protocal based VoIP system prototype. Due to combinating of merits of SIP and IP, this model not only provides the interoperation with the existed network, but also provides an extendable plat for the NGN. Abstract:Connection reliability is one important service level agreement (SLA) parameter for a customer and should be carefully considered in survivable WDM networks. A sound scheme should guarantee customers' reliability and simultaneously benefit a service provider in resource efficiency. Under the SLA constraints and the assumption of shared risk link group (SRLG) failures, a novel dynamic differentiated shared path-protection algorithm (DDSP) in WDM mesh networks is proposed. Based on the basic ideas of the K-shortest path algorithm and partial SRLGdisjoint protection, DDSP can provide differentiated services for customers according to their SLA parameters while optimizing resource utilization. Simulation results show that DDSP not only can efficiently guarantee the specific SLA requirements of customers, but also can achieve significant performance gain and lead to remarkable reduction in blocking probability.

Abstract:The packet-level traffic characteristics in the Internet are so complex that it is natural to do traffic engineering (TE) and control at the flow level. The emerging Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) has introduced an attractive solution to TE in IP networks. The main objective of this paper is to balance traffic at the flow level among the parallel Label Switched Paths (LSPs) in MPLS networks. We first introduce a multipath load-balancing model at the flow level. In this model, each LSP is modeled as an M/G/1 processor-sharing queue. Based on the analysis of the model, we propose a heuristic but efficient mechanism that is implemented only at the ingress Label Switched Routers (LSRs) and egress LSRs in the network. Extensive simulations using NS2 are performed with MPLS modules. The simulation results show that the load through the network is well balanced so that the network throughput is improved and the delay is decreased significantly.

Abstract:Characteristics of deep space （huge delay, asymmetric bandwidth, large BER and packet loss ratio and intermittent link） limit the adoption of terrestrial transmission protocols. Using channel coding theory as a reference, loss-tolerant file delivery protocol （LTFDP） to adapt to deep space environments was proposed. Whenever the stations on Earth have received certain amount of packets and fulfilled the requirement of de-interweaver, reliability transmission of file is accomplished without acknowledgements. Size of file and transmission rate have great impact on LTFDP＇s performance in shorter distance; whereas propagation time is the main factor of transmission delay in longer distance. LTFTP can diminish file delivery time greatly and improve throughput by one-way feedback-free transmission and guarantee reliability of communication system for deep space communications.

Abstract:The IP-based virtual private network (VPN) technology is now becoming a good solution for the delivery of future Internet services, and multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) technology is being adopted to offer VPNs and some value-added applications on top of VPN transport networks. In this paper, we proposed a novel approach based on using label stack properly to reduce the label size efficiently. In this way, the performance of MPLS-based VPN can be improved. Our simulation results validated our approach, demonstrating that MPLS-based VPN established by our approach has a better performance.

Abstract:Internet has experienced an exponential growth in recent years,and various kinds of application are raising critical challenges to current IP network. The MPLS-based VPN technology is now becoming a good solution for the de- livery of future Internet services,and Multiprotocol Label Switching(MPLS) technology is being adopted by some lar- gest Internet service providers to offer VPN and some value-added applications on top of their VPN transport net works. In this paper,a novel mechanism based on using label stack properly is proposed to reduce the number of labels needed efficiently. As the result, the size of forwarding table can be reduced and then the forwarding speed can be im- proved efficiently. In this way,the performance of MPLS-based VPN can be improved. And our simulation results vali dated our approach,demonstrating that MPLS-VPN established by our approach has a better performance.
