Abstract:All-inorganic semiconductor perovskite quantum dots (QDs) with outstanding optoelectronic properties have already been extensively investigated and implemented in various applications. However, great challenges exist for the fabrication of nanodevices including toxicity, fast anion-exchange reactions, and unsatisfactory stability. Here, the ultrathin, core-shell structured SiO2 coated Mn2+ doped CsPbX3 (X = Br, Cl) QDs are prepared via one facile reverse microemulsion method at room temperature. By incorporation of a multibranched capping ligand of trioctylphosphine oxide, it is found that the breakage of the CsPbMnX3 core QDs contributed from the hydrolysis of silane could be effectively blocked. The thickness of silica shell can be well-controlled within 2 nm, which gives the CsPbMnX3 @SiO2 QDs a high quantum yield of 50.5% and improves thermostability and water resistance. Moreover, the mixture of CsPbBr3 QDs with green emission and CsPbMnX3 @SiO2 QDs with yellow emission presents no ion exchange effect and provides white light emission. As a result, a white light-emitting diode (LED) is successfully prepared by the combination of a blue on-chip LED device and the above perovskite mixture. The as-prepared white LED displays a high luminous efficiency of 68.4 lm W-1 and a high color-rendering index of Ra = 91, demonstrating their broad future applications in solid-state lighting fields.

Abstract:Lead halide perovskite quantum dots (QDs) with high fluorescence efficiency and high color purity have a broad application prospect in the field of backlight display, but poor stability has been a key factor limiting their commercialization. Herein, we successfully synthesized CsPbBr3 QDs-KIT-6 (CsPbBr3 -K6) composite by using KIT-6 molecular sieve as the limited template with a simple high temperature solid-phase method. Further, the semi-protected CsPbBr3 QDs in KIT-6 frame will spontaneously hydrolyze when encountering water, and finally the double-encapsulated CsPbBr3 QDs-KIT-6@PbBr(OH) (CsPbBr3 -K6@PbBr(OH)) composite are obtained. CsPbBr3 -K6@PbBr(OH) composite shows excellent green emission properties, including a photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) (~73%) and a narrow emission linewidth of 25 nm. It is interesting that, the composite has excellent stability, including water stability without attenuation of fluorescence intensity after soaking in water for 60 days, thermal stability of 120°C heating-cooling cycle, and excellent optical stability without attenuation under continuous ultraviolet irradiation.
Efficient All‐Perovskite White Light‐Emitting Diodes Made of In Situ Grown Perovskite‐Mesoporous Silica Nanocomposites

Abstract:Highly luminescent and stable perovskite‐mesoporous silica (CsPbBr3/SBA‐15) nanocomposites are synthesized by in situ growth of CsPbBr3 in SBA‐15. The ordered mesopore arrangement of SBA‐15 provides a strong optical waveguide effect that reduces reabsorption loss of light emission and avoids the emitter agglomeration simultaneously. Consequently, an efficient white light‐emitting diodes with a luminous efficacy of 116 lm W−1 is achieved. Metal halide perovskite quantum dots (QDs) have emerged as potential materials for high brightness, wide color gamut, and cost‐effective backlight emission due to their high photoluminescence quantum yields, narrow emission linewidths, and tunable bandgaps. Herein, CsPbX3/SBA‐15 nanocomposites are prepared with outstanding optical properties and high stability through an in situ growth strategy using mesoporous silica particles. According to finite‐difference time‐domain simulations, the mesoporous structure provides a strong waveguide effect on perovskite QDs and the uniform dispersion suppresses reabsorption losses, improving the overall photoconversion efficiency of perovskite QDs. The as‐fabricated perovskite monochromatic light‐emitting diode (LED) has a maximum luminous efficiency of 183 lm W−1, which is the highest for monochromatic perovskite LEDs reported to date. A further benefit of this work is that the white devices, which combine the green and red perovskite nanocomposites with commercial blue LED, exhibit a high luminous efficiency of 116 lm W−1 and a wide color gamut (125% for NTSC and 94% for Rec. 2020) with coordinates of (0.33,0.31).

Modified Α-Al2o3 Wafer: Enhance the Stability of Perovskite Quantum Dots with Wide Colour Gamut for White Light-Emitting Diodes

Abstract:Recently, perovskite has received extensive attention due to their excellent photoelectric properties, while the instability of perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) has always troubled us. Herein, we proposed a simple coating mechanism to protect PQDs. Using oleic acid (OA) for etching alpha-Al2O3 wafer to make the surface appear pore structure, and the PQDs was coated within the modified alpha-Al2O3 wafer, thereby improving the stability of PQDs. The CsPbX3@alpha-Al2O3 composite material can achieve the emission of blue-green-red (436 nm to 636 nm) through adjustable luminescence wavelength. The photoluminescence (PL) intensity of CsPbX3@alpha-Al2O3 composite material exposure to the air after 28 days can maintain over 50%. It is worth noticing that the photoluminescent quantum yield (PLQY) of CsPbX3@alpha-Al2O3 composite material can reach 58%, the colour purity of CsPbX3@alpha-Al2O3 and CsPbX3@alpha-Al2O3 achieve 97.1% and 99.8%, respectively. It was due to the high colour purity of the composite materials can the selected CIE colour coordinate monochromatic light encompassed 114% of NTSC colour gamut. Moreover, the warm white light-emitting diode (WLED) yielded bright natural white light and showed the luminous efficiency (LE) of 86.58 lm/W, colour rendering index (CRI) of 86.9, correlated colour temperature (CCT) of 4602 K. The LE and CRI reaches a relatively balanced value, which showed that this composite material has a certain development prospect in the WLED field.
Efficient and Environmentally Friendly White Light-Emitting Diodes with InP-based Quantum Dots Embedded in Mesoporous Silica

Abstract:As one of the promising next-generation light conversion materials, indium phosphide quantum dots (InP QDs) deserve much attention due to their great optical performances and environmentally friendly properties in particular. Herein, InP-based QDs are embedded into mesoporous SBA-15 and solid QDs/SBA-15 composites are prepared, which exhibit 1.5 times of photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and narrower full width of half maximum (FWHM) than traditional QDs powder thanks to the reduction of light reabsorption and the optical waveguide effect of mesoporous structure. These advantages contribute to the performance enhancement of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The luminous efficacy of the LED with green QDs/SBA-15 is 99.49 lm/W, which is higher than that of QDs powder (66.14 lm/W). In addition, the white LED fabricated with green and red InP-based QDs/SBA-15 shows luminous efficacy of 61.38 lm/W. More importantly, the luminous efficacy of the white LED is improved to 129.62 lm/W when using the K2SiF6:Mn4+ instead of red InP-based QDs/SBA-15, because the K2SiF6:Mn4+ does not absorb the emission from green InP-based QDs/SBA-15. This value is higher than those white LEDs with InP-based QDs reported previously. It is believed that this study demonstrates the promising potential of InP-based QDs for optoelectronic applications.

Abstract:Cesium lead halide perovskite quantum dots (QDs) have drawn extensive attention due to their excellent optical properties. However, their use is limited by poor stability. To enhance their stability, we electrospun perovskite-embedded fibers from composite CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, and I) perovskite QDs, blending with three polymers, poly(styrene-butadiene-styrene) (SBS), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), or polystyrene (PS), for the light-emitting diode (LED) applications. We found that the stretchable CsPbBr3@SBS fibers revealed the highest photoluminescence quantum yield, the CsPbBr3@PMMA fibers demonstrated a high thermal stability, and the CsPbBr3@PS fibers exhibited the best water-resistant stability. The photoluminescence intensity maintained 83% of its initial intensity for more than 3 months in water. Furthermore, the LED devices are manufactured from the blue chips and packaged with the core/shell red and green perovskite-based fibers by using biaxial electrospinning exhibited stable and highly efficient white luminescence. The luminance and efficiency are higher than 400% of the values of multilayered structures.

Abstract:Perovskite quantum dots (QDs) possess remarkable luminescent properties, making them highly promising for optoelectronic devices. However, their industrial applications are limited due to their poor stability in various environmental conditions. In this study, we present a novel approach to fabricate stabilized CsPbBr 3 QDs by incorporating them into a three-dimensional layered yttrium hydroxide (3D-LYH) matrix using a thermal injection method. The resulting 3D-LYH-CsPbBr 3 composites exhibit an impressive solid photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 84.34%. Additionally, it demonstrates excellent stability, retaining 65.64% of its initial PLQY even after 120 days of storage in a humid environment. Moreover, the composites exhibit a marginal decrease of only 20% in PL strength after undergoing four heating–cooling cycles ranging from 25 to 100 °C. This enhanced stability is attributed to the unique flower-like structure of the 3D-LYH matrix, which effectively stabilizes the CsPbBr 3 QDs. Furthermore, we successfully obtained white light-emitting diodes by spin-coating the 3D-LYH-CsPbBr 3 composites. The resulting white light achieves color coordinates of (0.310, 0.321) and a correlated color temperature of 6750 K. These advancements highlight the potential of LYH-based composite luminescent materials for applications in display and lighting devices.

Towards Highly Luminescent and Stabilized Silica Coated Perovskite Quantum Dots through Simply Mixing and Stirring under Room Temperature in Air.

Abstract:Methylammonium (MA) lead halide (MAPbX3, X=Cl, Br, I) perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) are very sensitive to environment (moisture, oxygen and temperature), suffering from poor stability. In order to improve the stability, silica coated PQDs (SPQDs) were synthesized by an improved ligand-assisted reprecipitation method through simply mixing and stirring under room temperature in air without adding water and catalyst, the whole process took only a few seconds. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra of the SPQDs can be tuned continuously from 460 nm to 662 nm via adjusting the composition proportion of precursors. The highest PL quantum yields (PLQYs) of blue-, green-, and red-emissive SPQDs are 56%, 95% and 70%, respectively. The SPQDs show remarkably improved environmental and thermal stability compared to the naked PQDs because of effective barrier created by the coated silica between the core materials and the ambience. Furthermore, it is found that different light-emitting SPQDs can maintain their original PL properties after mixing of them and anion-exchange reactions have not happened. These attributes were then used to mix green- and yellow-emissive SPQDs with polystyrene (PS) to form color-converting layers for the fabrication of white light-emitting devices (WLEDs). The WLEDs exhibit excellent white light characteristics with CIE 1931 color coordinates of (0.31, 0.34) and color rendering index (CRI) of 85, demonstrating promising applications of SPQDs in lighting and displays.
Highly efficient and stable CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots by encapsulation in dual-shell hollow silica spheres for WLEDs

Abstract:Poor stability of CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br or I) perovskite quantum dots (QDs) has greatly hindered their practical photoelectric applications, and how to improve it still remains a critical challenge. Herein, we encapsulated CsPbBr3 QDs into dual-shell hollow silica (SiO2) spheres via a simple successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method. The hierarchical dual-shell structures permit CsPbBr3 QDs to be anchored on the interior of the SiO2 spheres while keeping the outside surface undisturbed, which can protect the CsPbBr3 QDs from direct exposure to the atmosphere. Due to the comprehensive protection of dual-shell hollow SiO2 spheres, the CsPbBr3/SiO2 nanospheres exhibit markedly enhanced stability against light and heat, with a residual PL intensity of 89% after continuous exposure for 72 h to UV light and 65% after 100 °C heat treatment, respectively. In addition, an optimal PLQY of 89% is obtained with suppressed nonradiative recombination. Finally, the fabricated white light-emitting diode (LED) device by employing CsPbBr3/SiO2 green phosphors could achieve a wide color gamut covering up to 136% of the NTSC standard. This work provides a novel SiO2-based encapsulation approach to solve the intrinsic instability issues of CsPbBr3 QDs, which has a profound impact on their practical applications.

Abstract:Metalammonium lead perovskite (MAPbX(3), MA=CH3NH3+; X=Cl, Br, I) quantum dots (QDs) have attracted tremendous attention due to their outstanding optical properties. However, they usually suffer from poor stability towards water or moisture, which seriously limits their practical applications. Here, we report a simple and effective approach to improve the stability of MAPbBr(3) QDs by encapsulating them with superhydrophobic fluorinated organosilica (FSiO2) shells. The water-resistant stability of the superhydrophobic MAPbBr(3) QDs/FSiO2 is significantly enhanced and they display strong fluorescence even after immersion in water for 12 hours. This method is readily extended to prepare superhydrophobic MAPbBr(2.4)Cl(0.6) QDs/FSiO2 and MAPbI(3) QDs/FSiO2 powders. These superhydrophobic MAPbX(3) QDs/FSiO2 can be further used to fabricate white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with comparable color to pure white emission.

Abstract:In recent years, all-inorganic lead halide perovskite CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) nanocrystals as kinds of new luminescent materials have attracted more and more attentions because of their size tunable emission wavelength, narrow emission peak, high luminous efficiency and good air stability. Herein we have synthesized all-inorganic halide perovskite nanocrystals by hot-injection method and anion exchange reaction, achieving the whole visible light region from 410 to 700 nm with narrow spectral in the range of 15-40 nm. Moreover, a white light emitting diode (WLED) was constructed by stacking CsPbBr3 QDs-ethyl acetate composite film and CaSrAlN3: Eu2+-poly (methyl methacrylate) composite film on the blue LED chip, displaying the ideal white light with the chromaticity coordination at (0.3379, 0.3432) and the color temperature of 5261 K. Because of the deep traps resulted from partial oxidation at the QDs' surface under large excitation light intensity, the WLED is not stable enough to work at a high operation current, but it can work steadily under a relatively lower operation current. Lead‐free Double Perovskite Cs2AgIn0.9Bi0.1Cl6 Quantum Dots for White Light‐Emitting Diodes

Abstract:AbstractPerovskite‐based optoelectronic devices have attracted considerable attention owing to their excellent device performances and facile solution processing. However, the toxicity and intrinsic instability of lead‐based perovskites have limited their commercial development. Moreover, the provision of an efficient white emission from a single perovskite layer is challenging. Here, novel electrically excited white light‐emitting diodes (WLEDs) based on lead‐free double perovskite Cs2AgIn0.9Bi0.1Cl6 quantum dots (QDs) without any phosphor are fabricated for the first time. Density functional theory calculations are carried out to clarify the mechanism of absorption and recombination in Cs2AgIn0.9Bi0.1Cl6 with Bi‐doping breaking the parity‐forbidden transition of the direct bandgap. Microzone optical and electronic characterizations reveal that the broadband emission of Cs2AgIn0.9Bi0.1Cl6 QDs originates from self‐trapped excitons, and luminescent properties are unchanged after the film deposition. The QD‐WLED exhibits excellent Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage color coordinates, correlated color temperature and relatively high color rendering index of (0.32, 0.32), 6432 K, and 94.5, respectively. The maximum luminance of 158 cd m−2 is achieved by triphenylphosphine oxide passivation, and this lead‐free QD‐WLED exhibits a superior stability in ambient air with a long T50 ≈48.53 min. Therefore, lead‐free perovskite Cs2AgIn0.9Bi0.1Cl6 QDs are promising candidates for use in WLEDs in the future.

Abstract:All-inorganic perovskite quantum dots (PeQDs) have sparked extensive research focus on white-light-emitting diodes (WLEDs), but stability and photoluminescence efficiency issues are still remain obstacles impeding their practical application. Here, we reported a facile one-step method to synthesize CsPbBr3 PeQDs at room temperature using branched didodecyldimethylammonium fluoride (DDAF) and short-chain-length octanoic acid as capping ligands. The obtained CsPbBr3 PeQDs have a near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield of 97% due to the effective passivation of DDAF. More importantly, they exhibit much improved stability against air, heat, and polar solvents, maintaining >70% of initial PL intensity. Making use of these excellent optoelectronic properties, WLEDs based on CsPbBr3 PeQDs, CsPbBr1.2I1.8 PeQDs, and blue LEDs were fabricated, which show a color gamut of 122.7% of the National Television System Committee standard, a luminous efficacy of 17.1 lm/W, with a color temperature of 5890 K, and CIE coordinates of (0.32, 0.35). These results indicate that the CsPbBr3 PeQDs have great practical potential in wide-color-gamut displays.

Abstract:In this paper, we report a simple one-pot strategy to synthesize highly stable SiO2-coated orange-yellow CsPb0.7Mn0.3Br0.75Cl2.25 quantum dots with strong orange-yellow photoluminescence. The microstructure characterization indicates that the CsPb0.7Mn0.3Br0.75Cl2.25 quantum dots were effectively encapsulated by the SiO2. The SiO2-coated CsPb0.7Mn0.3Br0.75Cl2.25 quantum dots show higher humidity stability and thermal stability than the CsPb0.7Mn0.3Br0.75Cl2.25 quantum dots without SiO2 coating. The white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) were obtained by coating orange-yellow CsPb0.7Mn0.3Br0.75Cl2.25@SiO2 and blue CsPbBrCl2@SiO2 quantum dots on the ultraviolet gallium nitride light-emitting diode chip. The as-prepared white light-emitting diodes show bright white light emission with a color coordinate of (0.3347, 0.2825), color rendering index of 82 and correlated color temperature of 5329 K. The results provide a simple method to fabricate stable orange-yellow luminescent material for white light-emitting diodes.

Abstract:Inverted polymer/quantum-dots (QDs) hybrid white light emitting diodes with high efficiency and color stability were fabricated. The white devices show high luminous efficiency of 5.3 cd/A, external quantum efficiency of 3.0%, by using polyetherimide (PEI) to modify zinc oxide layer as the electron injection layer and blue emitting polymer of poly (dibenzothiophene-S,S-dioxide-co-9,9-dioctyl-2,7-fluorene) (PFSO) doped with green and red quantum-dots (G-QDs, R-QDs) as the emitting layer. Pure white emission at Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage coordinates of (0.31, 0.32) was achieved by adjusting weight ratio of PFSO: G-QDs: R-QDs to be 10.0: 3.6: 2.2. In addition, the electroluminescence (EL) spectra of the white device are quite stable in the wide brightness range between 1.0 x 10(2) cd/m(2) and 1.0 x 10(4) cd/m(2). The possible reason was that the PEI could reduce the energy barrier height between the cathode and emitting layer, and facilitate electron injection into the emitting layer. It's confirmed that both Forest energy transfer and charge trapping mechanisms work in the EL process and the latter is dominant.
High Stability of Liquid-Typed White Light-Emitting Diode with Zn0.8Cd0.2S White Quantum Dots

Abstract:In this study, we demonstrate a new design of white light-emitting diode (WLED) with high stability and luminous efficiency as well as positive aging. Colloidal ternary Zn0.8Cd0.2S (named Zn0.8) white quantum dots (WQDs) were prepared by chemical route and dispersed in xylene, integrating them into an ultraviolet light-emitting diode (UV-LED) to form WQD-white light emitting diode (WQD-WLED). High efficiency, high color quality and excellent reliability of WQD-WLED with neutral white correlated color temperature (CCT) can be obtained. The experimental results indicate that the stability of relative luminous efficiency and color rendering index (CRI) of the WQD-WLED can reach up to 160 and 82%, respectively. Moreover, the WQD-WLED can operate more than 1000 h under 100 mA, and the quantity of WQDs in the glass package can be reduced.

Abstract:White LED is widely used for large‐area displays and lighting. Here we fabricated the white LED using red and green perovskite quantum dots and blue organic materials. The maximum efficiency of this hybrid white LED device was 2.1 cd/A and has a color coordinate of (0.32, 0.27) which is very close to the required white coordinate of (0.33, 0.33) based on the CIE 1931 color coordinate.

Abstract:Despite the outstanding optical features of lead halide perovskite quantum dots (QDs), they are troubled by stability issues that hinder their prospects in practical applications. Herein, the CsPbBr3 QDs generated here were grown in situ in hydrophobic silica aerogels (SiO2 AGs). More importantly, the photoinitiated cross-linking reaction of the capping ligands, conjugated linoleic acids (CLA), forms hydrophobic polymer shells from CsPbBr3 QDs@SiO2 AGs-poly. And these polymer shells further improve the water stability of QDs. The composite retains 83 % photoluminescence (PL) intensity after being dispersed in water for five days. And SiO2 AGs also act as confined templates owing to their unique porous structure to avoid aggregation and regrowth of QDs in the polymerization process of CLA. With the combined effects of SiO2 AGs and polymer shells, the composite shows remarkable optical performance with a high absolute quantum yield (QY) (89.08 %). And this green-emitting composite was applied as a luminescent material in a white light-emitting diode (WLED), which exhibited excellent luminescence with the color coordinates of (0.3344, 0.3253) and light efficiency of 28.8 lm/W at 20 mA, and light stability under large current.(c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. Abstract:Perovskite-based optoelectronic devices have attracted considerable attention owing to their excellent device performances and facile solution processing. However, the toxicity and intrinsic instability of lead-based perovskites have limited their commercial development. Moreover, the provision of an efficient white emission from a single perovskite layer is challenging. Here, novel electrically excited white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) based on lead-free double perovskite Cs2 AgIn0.9 Bi0.1 Cl6 quantum dots (QDs) without any phosphor are fabricated for the first time. Density functional theory calculations are carried out to clarify the mechanism of absorption and recombination in Cs2 AgIn0.9 Bi0.1 Cl6 with Bi-doping breaking the parity-forbidden transition of the direct bandgap. Microzone optical and electronic characterizations reveal that the broadband emission of Cs2 AgIn0.9 Bi0.1 Cl6 QDs originates from self-trapped excitons, and luminescent properties are unchanged after the film deposition. The QD-WLED exhibits excellent Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage color coordinates, correlated color temperature and relatively high color rendering index of (0.32, 0.32), 6432 K, and 94.5, respectively. The maximum luminance of 158 cd m-2 is achieved by triphenylphosphine oxide passivation, and this lead-free QD-WLED exhibits a superior stability in ambient air with a long T50 ≈48.53 min. Therefore, lead-free perovskite Cs2 AgIn0.9 Bi0.1 Cl6 QDs are promising candidates for use in WLEDs in the future.

Abstract:White light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) composed of blue LED chip, yellow phosphor, and red quantum dots (QDs) are considered as a potential alternative for the next-generation artificial light source, with their high luminous efficiency (LE) and color-rendering index (CRI). However, the poor stability of QDs-silicone mixture and the optical reabsorption effect between the mixed QDs/phosphor particles severely hinders the wide utilization of QDs-WLEDs. Therefore, in this paper, a silica shell was coated onto the QDs surface to solve the compatibility problem between QDs and phosphor-silicone gel. Then, a QDs-on-chip packaging structure was proposed to reduce the reabsorption energy loss. The prepared QDs@silica nanoparticles (QSNs) exhibited excellent luminescent stability over bare QDs under high-temperature (85 degrees C) and high-relative humidity (85% RH). With CRI > 90 and R9 > 90, the newly proposed QSNs-WLEDs demonstrated an LE enhancement of 15.7% over conventional mixed-type WLEDs due to the less reabsorption loss. Consequently, the newly proposed QSNs-WLEDs showed 20.5 degrees C lower QDs working temperature under driving current of 200 mA.
