Abstract:•Thirteen conodont zones are identified for the Early Triassic Jiarong sections (South China).•The Induan/Olenekian boundary is recognised by Nv. w. eowaageni.•Microfacies analyses indicate toe-of-slope to basinal sedimentological facies.•Segminiplanate conodonts occur in the late Griesbachian and early Spathian.•Occurrences of segminiplanate conodonts may have been related to oxygenated seawater.
