Abstract:The synthesis of the Ag/AgBr/Bi2MoO6 nanocomposite was achieved through a facile hydrothermal method combined with in situ photodeposition. Subsequently, its efficacy in catalyzing the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation was systematically investigated. The Bi2MoO6 samples and the Ag/AgBr/Bi2MoO6 nanocomposites underwent comprehensive characterization using a suite of techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The analyses unveiled a homogeneous distribution of Ag nanoparticles on the surface of AgBr/Bi2MoO6, indicative of the successful formation of the composite. To assess the photocatalytic efficiency, the degradation of RhB under visible light irradiation was employed as a benchmark. Notably, the incorporation of Ag nanosheets, serving as electron mediators and Schottky barriers, facilitated efficient electron transfer between Bi2MoO6 and AgBr. Consequently, the photocatalytic activity of the ternary Z-type heterogeneous Ag/AgBr/Bi2MoO6 nanocomposites surpassed that of the pure Bi2MoO6 and AgBr samples. Remarkably, under 12 min of visible light irradiation, the photocatalytic activity of the Ag/AgBr/Bi2MoO6 nanocomposites reached an impressive 99.99 %.

Abstract:In a typical Z-scheme photocatalytic system, the visible light responsive component typically plays a crucial role and is often confined to materials sensitive to visible light. In addition, metallic nanodots or quantum dots are used as effective cocatalysts in the construction of plasmonic Z-scheme photocatalysts because of their strong light harvesting capacities under visible light illumination. In the present study, Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets dominated with (001) crystal planes were successfully prepared via a facile molten-salt method, and BTO/Ag/APO composite samples were prepared by a simple precipitation method followed by photoreduction. The obtained BTO/Ag/APO composite exhibits improved photocatalytic activity for the decontamination of two typical organic pollutants, compared to bare Bi4Ti3O12 and Ag3PO4. Based on various characterization techniques, a Z-scheme electron transfer mechanism induced by the plasmonic effect was hypothesized to clarify the enhanced catalytic performances in this system. On the other hand, the LSPR effect of deposited silver nanoparticles can boost the molecular oxygen activation process and generate more superoxide radicals. This study provides a promising approach to apply highly effective photocatalytic degradation for environmental remediation.

Abstract:Efficient visible light-driven C3N4/BiOBr composite photocatalysts were prepared via a facile hydrothermal method and characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra and photoluminescence spectra for the phase composition and optical property. Taking rhodamine B (RhB) as the target pollutant, the photocatalytic activity and stability of photocatalysts were studied under visible light irradiation. Furthermore, the mechanism in the process of photocatalytic degradation was discussed by electron spin resonance spectroscopy analysis and the trapping experiment of generated radicals. The results indicated that C3N4/BiOBr composite photocatalysts had excellent crystallization performance. Composited by C3N4, BiOBr exhibited considerably higher photocatalytic activity by reducing the rate of electron-hole recombination. Among prepared composites with various C3N4 contents, 15% C3N4/BiOBr exhibited the best efficiency for the degradation of RhB. After irradiation for 18 minutes, the degradation rate of RhB was 100%, which was 1.5 times higher than that using pure BiOBr. The results also suggested that holes and ·O2- were the main reactive species in the photocatalytic process for the RhB degradation, and holes played the leading role.

Abstract:BiOI/BiOBr composite visible photocatalyst was prepared via hydrothermal method using inorganic materials, and characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra and transient photocurrent response curve for the phase composition and optical property.Taking rhodamine B (RhB) as the target pollutant, the photocatalytic activity and stability of photocatalysts were studied under visible light irradiation.Furthermore, the mechanism in the process of photocatalytic degradation was discussed by electron spin resonance spectroscopy analysis and the trapping experiment of generated radicals.The results show that BiOI/BiOBr composite photocatalyst prepared by hydrothermal method using inorganic materials own high purity and excellent crystallization performance.Composited by BiOI, BiOBr exhibits higher photocatalytic activity considerably by reducing the rate of electron-hole recombination and broadening the range of visible-light response.Among the prepared composites with various BiOI contents, 8% BiOI/BiOBr exhibits the best efficiency in the degradation of RhB.After irradiation for 21 min, the degradation rate of RhB is 100%, which is 1.5 times of pure BiOBr.After 5 times recycle, it also shows high photocatalytic activity.The results also suggest that holes and ·O-2 are the main reactive species in the photocatalytic process of the RhB degradation.

Abstract:High -efficiency visible -light photocatalysts have been recognized as a cost-effective approach for the degradation of organic pollutants in wastewater. In this study, we constructed a novel multi -component heterojunction photocatalyst Ag/AgCl/g-C3N4/Sn-In2O3 through a simple thermal polymerization and photo -assisted reduction processes. The photocatalytic activity of Ag/AgCl/g-C3N4/Sn-In2O3 was remarkably improved compared to other samples in the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB). The degradation of RhB by 5 % Ag/AgCl/g-C3N4/Sn-In2O3 reached 98.5 % within 60 min, while the degradation rates under g-C3N4, g-C3N4/Sn-In2O3, and Ag/AgCl/g-C3N4 were found to be 41.8 %, 73.6 %, and 85.9 %, respectively. Electron spin resonance (ESR) signals trapping and radical scavenging confirmed that the h(+) and center dot O-2(-) were the two main reactive species in photodegradation RhB. The result provides innovative insights that could inform the future design and development of photocatalysts with exceptional efficiency.

Abstract:AgBrO3/AgBr compound photocatalysts were prepared via a precipitation method and characterized by X‐ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, ultraviolet–visible diffusion spectroscopy, and solid surface fluorescence trials. The photocatalytic performances and mechanism were also investigated. It was found the 2.5 wt.% AgBrO3/AgBr compound photocatalyst was most effective in dye degradation. The AgBrO3/AgBr showed degradation rate up to 94.5% in a 10 mg/L MO (Methyl Orange) solution and was still very stable after five cycles of reuse. The AgBrO3/AgBr photocatalysts could oxidize and decompose methyl orange molecules under visible light irradiation. The compounding largely improved the photocatalytic activity of AgBr. Photocatalytic mechanism experiments showed ·OH was the major active species.

Abstract:In this study, a simple hydrothermal procedure and in situ precipitation method were used to prepare SnO 2 –AgBr composites, where the molar ratios of SnO 2 and AgBr were 1 : 1, 1 : 2 and 2 : 1. Characterization results showed that the composites had excellent dispersion, crystallinity, and purity. A photocatalytic degradation experiment and first-order kinetic model indicate that SnO 2 –AgBr (1 : 1) had the best photocatalytic performance, and the degradation rates of 30 mg L −1 simulated MO and MG wastewater reached 96.71% and 93.36%, respectively, in 150 min, which were 3.5 times those of SnO 2 . The degradation rate of MO and MG increases with the dosage. Humic acid inhibited the degradation of MG, while a low concentration of humic acid promoted the degradation of MO, and the composite has good stability with pH. A free radical trapping experiment shows that ·OH and ·O 2 − were the main active substances, and h + was the secondary one. According to the results of the characterization and photocatalysis experiments, a Z-scheme mechanism for the SnO 2 –AgBr composite was proposed, and the degradation pathway of target pollutants was speculated upon. This study has conceived novel methods for the development of a mature Z-scheme mechanism and in doing so has provided new approaches for the development of photocatalysis for water pollution control.

Abstract:Herein, we constructed a novel AgI/BiSbO4 heterojunction via a hydrothermal-precipitation method. The heterojunction structure boosts the generation of hydroxyl and superoxide radicals for efficient degradation of organic pollutants. The photocatalytic activities of the optimal sample for ARG and TC degradation are 10 and 1.6 times higher than those of bare AgI, respectively. Characterizations and theoretical calculations together confirm a strong interfacial charge transfer exists between the interlayer in AgI and BiSbO4 by the formation of Ag-O bond, making O atoms obtain rich free electrons from Ag atoms of AgI, thus forming an ultrahigh electron transfer tunnel, and ultimately accelerating the separation of photoinduced electrons. More interestingly, low amounts of Ag0 NPs formed during the photocatalytic process, enhancing the visible light absorption because of its SPR (surface plasmon resonance) effect and further promoting the separation of photoinduced carriers. Furthermore, photocatalytic degradation pathways were proposed in detail by analyzing intermediates and a reasonable photocatalytic mechanism was unearthed. This work extends the development of AgI-based heterojunction photocatalysts.

Abstract:The novel photocatalysts of Ag/AgBr/Bi4O5Br2 layered microspheres (AAB-LMs) were firstly constructed via the in-situ deposition and visible-light photoreduction approach. Their compositions, structures, morphologies and optical properties were characterized by various techniques. The photocatalytic efficiencies of AAB-LMs-10 were 28 and 3.4 times higher than those of Bi4O5Br2-LMs towards degrading acid orange II and aniline, respectively. The superior photocatalytic behavior of AAB-LMs benefited from efficient separation and transfer of photo-generated charges, which was mainly credited to the surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag nanoparticles and the synthetic interaction among Ag, AgBr and Bi4O5Br2. O-2(-) and h(+) were characterized as the predominant photoactive species in this AAB-LMs-photocatalysis system. Moreover, due to the presence of radical species Br-0, which was verified by the detection of bromoaniline and dibromoaniline during the photocatalytic degradation process of aniline, Z-scheme mechanism rather than the conventional heterojunction mode was more suitable to explain the enhanced photocatalytic performance of AAB-LMs.

Abstract:Novel visible-light-driven Ag3PO4/AgBr/AgI photocatalysts were prepared via a simple self-assembly strategy combined with in-situ anion-exchanging process. The photocatalytic activity of Ag3PO4 was significantly improved by constructing double-Z system. Specifically, the obtained materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). Under visible light irradiation (λ > 420 nm), the Ag3PO4/AgBr/AgI photocatalysts showed much higher photocatalytic activity than bulk Ag3PO4 for the degradation of formaldehyde (HCHO), and 100% HCHO degradation could be obtained within 28 min. The degradation efficiency could be maintained in five cycles. Further electron paramagnetic resonance (ESR) tests demonstrated that both •OH and •O2− generated in the system. This study provides new insights into the fabrication of highly efficient visible-light-driven photocatalysts and facilitates their practical application in emerging environment issues.

Abstract:A novel photocatalyst Ag-AgBr/TiO2 heterostructured nanofibers was fabricated by means of combining solvothermal technique with photoreduction method based on the electrospun TO2 nanofibers support. And, X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-vis spectrophotometer (UV-vis), and photoluminescence (PL) measurements were used to characterize the structure, morphology, and properties of the as-prepared photocatalysts. Further, the photocatalytic activity of photocatalysts was tested by degrading methylene blue dye under visible light. As a result, the photocatalytic activity of the Ag-AgBr/TiO2 heterostructured nanofibers is far superior to that of TiO2 nanofibers and Ag-AgBr power, which could be attributed to the surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag nanoparticles and the synergetic effect between the three components of Ag, AgBr and TiO2. Significantly, the stability and recycling of the photocatalyst was also investigated. Abstract:In this paper, novel micro-nano heterostructure AgBr/ZnO composite was successfully synthesized by a facile one-step hydrothermal reaction at 160°C. Its morphology, crystallinity, chemical composition and optical properties were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The results have indicated that AgBr nanoparticles were evenly distributed on the surface of ZnO microrods. In addition, the photocatalytic activities of samples were evaluated by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under 410nm light emitting diode (LED) irradiation. Micro-nano heterostructure AgBr/ZnO composite exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity among ZnO microrods, AgBr and Degussa P25. The stability of heterostructure AgBr/ZnO composite was characterized through cyclic photocatalytic test. Results indicated promising stable degradation performance of micro-nano heterostructure AgBr/ZnO composite.
The Z-scheme Ag2CO3@g-C3N4 Core-Shell Structure for Increased Photoinduced Charge Separation and Stable Photocatalytic Degradation

Abstract:The core-shell Ag2CO3@g-C3N4 photocatalyst was prepared by coating two-dimensional nanosheet g-C3N4 on the surface of Ag2CO3, which could substantial improve the photo-degradation for MO (methyl orange), and the Ag2CO3@g-C3N4 (5 wt%) composite exhibited the best degradation efficiency, up to 96.7%. Meanwhile, the composites also have great degradation properties for MB (methylene blue), RhB (Rhodamine B) and phenol, the enhanced photocatalytic performance was due to the faster photogenerated carrier migration efficiency derived from core-shell structure and chemical bond hybridization effect arising from Ag2CO3 and g-C3N4. In addition, the Ag2CO3@g-C3N4 photocatalyst has great stability for MO degradation and the activity remains at 87.3% after five cycles, due to the Z-scheme structure formed by the Ag2CO3@g-C3N4 photoacatalyst, which effectively avoids the accumulation of photoinduced electrons in the Ag2CO3 and inhibits Ag+ photoreduction, which greatly improves the stability of Ag2CO3. This Ag2CO3@g-C3N4 core-shell photocatalyst with Z-scheme system not only promotes the photodegradability of Ag2CO3, but ensures its stability performance, which providing new ideas for designing new high-efficiency photocatalytic materials.
An AgI@g-C3N4 Hybrid Core@shell Structure: Stable and Enhanced Photocatalytic Degradation

Abstract:A novel visible-light-active material AgI@g-C3N4 was prepared by ultrasonication/chemisorption method. The core@shell structure AgI@g-C3N4 catalyst showed high efficiency for the degradation of MB under visible light irradiation (lambda>420 nm). Nearly 96.5% of MB was degraded after 120 min of irradiation in the presence of the AgI@g-C3N4 photocatalyst. Superior stability was also observed in the cyclic runs indicating that the as prepared hybrid composite is highly desirable for the remediation of organic contaminated wastewaters. The improved photocatalytic performance is due to synergistic effects at the interface of AgI and g-C3N4 which can effectively accelerate the charge separation and reinforce the photostability of hybrid composite. The possible mechanism for the photocatalytic activity of AgI@g-C3N4 was tentatively proposed. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:A heterostructured Ag3PO4/AgBr/Ag plasmonic photocatalyst was prepared by a rational in situ ion exchange reaction between Ag3PO4 micro-cubes and Br(-) in aqueous solution followed by photoreduction. The photocatalytic activities of obtained photocatalysts were measured by the degradation of methyl orange (MO) and methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation (λ≥ 400 nm). Compared to AgBr/Ag, Ag3PO4/AgBr heterocrystals and pure Ag3PO4 crystals, the heterostructured Ag3PO4/AgBr/Ag plasmonic photocatalysts exhibit much higher photocatalytic activity and stability. This enhanced photocatalytic activity suggests that the synergetic effects of the heterostructured Ag3PO4/AgBr/Ag and the strong SPR of Ag NPs on the surface result in the high efficiencies of the photocatalytic activity and the improved stability. With the assistance of Ag3PO4/AgBr/Ag heterostructures, only 8 min and 12 min are taken to completely decompose MO and MB molecules under visible-light irradiation, respectively. Furthermore, the photodegradation rate does not show an obvious decrease during ten successive cycles, indicating that our heterostructured Ag3PO4/AgBr/Ag plasmonic photocatalysts are extremely stable under visible-light irradiation.

Abstract:Recently, the photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants has gained increasing attention because of its high efficiency and lack of secondary pollution; however, problems such as rapid electron-hole recombination affect its degradation efficiency. In this study, a novel dual Z -scheme g-C3N4/Ag2MoO4/AgBr heterojunction was successfully prepared using a one-step room -temperature precipitation method, with its photocatalytic activity evaluated by degrading rhodamine B (RhB) and tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH). The composition and surface morphology of the ternary catalysts-characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier -transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy -dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) tests, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)-confirmed the successful loading of Ag2MoO4 and AgBr onto g-C3N4. Catalytic degradation results showed that the ternary catalyst exhibited the best performance at a 40 % mass fraction of AgBr. Moreover, the ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-Vis DRS), photoluminescence (PL), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and transient photocurrent response test results show that the ternary catalyst has excellent optical properties. In addition, the significant improvement in the catalytic performance can be attributed to the effective charge separation of the dual Z -scheme photocatalytic mechanism based on radical trapping experiments, electron spin resonance (ESR) analysis, and energy band analysis. Hence, this study provides a new approach to studying more efficient photocatalysts.
Ag-Ag2CO3/Bi2MoO6 Composites with Enhanced Visible-Light-driven Catalytic Activity

Abstract:Novel Ag-Ag2CO3/Bi2MoO6 composites were obtained through in situ formation of Ag2CO3 rods/nanoparticles onto Bi2MoO6 nanosheets, followed by photoreduction. These composites were found to be much more active than Bi2MoO6 in photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under visible-light irradiation. In particular, an Ag-Ag2CO3/Bi2MoO6 composite with a theoretical Ag2CO3/Bi2MoO6 mass ratio of similar to 27.5% exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity. It was also the most active in photocatalytic degradation of methyl blue (MB) and tetracycline hydrochloride (TC), due to the enhanced visible-light absorption and efficient separation of photogenerated carriers. The good reusability of Ag-Ag2CO3/Bi2MoO6 was verified by cycling degradation experiments. The dominant active species were found to be photogenerated holes (h(+)). Abstract:A high-activity AgBr/Ag3PO4 heterojunction photocatalyst was synthesized based on hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide. Its microspheres were characterized using X-ray diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The new photocatalyst with high photocatalytic activity exceptionally outperforms pure Ag3PO4 and AgBr in methyl orange degradation. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity is attributed to the efficient separation of electron-hole pairs. In this photocatalytic reaction, h(+) and O-center dot(2-) are the main reactive species that induce visible-light-driven degradation.

Abstract:Ag2Mo3O10 center dot 1.8H(2)O with a relatively narrow bandgap of 2.69 eV was used to construct an AgI/Ag2Mo3O10 center dot 1.8H(2)O photocatalyst which was found to be more active than AgI and Ag2Mo3O10 center dot 1.8H(2)O in photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes under visible light. The physical and chemical properties of related catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), N-2 adsorption-desorption, diffuse reflectance UV-Vis spectroscopy, photocurrent measurements, photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Through relevant characterization, radical-capturing experiments, and electron spin resonance (ESR) experiments using 5,5-dimethyl-l-pyrroline-N-oxide (DMPO) to detect hydroxyl radicals (center dot OH) and superoxide radicals (center dot O-2(-)), the enhanced activities of AgI/Ag2Mo3O10 center dot 1.8H(2)O was explained.
