Abstract:Reflection on and criticism of enlightenment reason is an indispensable part of the Enlightenment itself. It is an important counterbalance to the Enlightenment myth and the crisis of modernity, as well as being a major theoretical subject for political philosophy in the age of globalization. This reflection and criticism must be grasped and examined from both the external perspective of socio-historical requirements and the internal perspective of intellectual history. While giving full credit to the achievements of Enlightenment reason and modernity, we need to review their inherent conflicts, reveal the resultant social crisis, and sort out, reflect on and reference postmodernism's denunciation of Enlightenment reason and the crisis of modernity in order to provide a more far-reaching solution to these issues. Marx turned the critique of Enlightenment reason and modernity into a critical reconstruction of the logic of capital and the capitalist mode of production, seeing the resolution of these evils as lying in transcendence of capitalist private ownership. In this way, he brought the critique of Enlightenment reason to a climax and showed modern society a way to more advanced development.

Abstract:The article considers the personal interest of Marx and the Marxist tradition in changing the world. As a rule, and this can be explained by political reasons, Marx and Engels are credited with an identical position on this issue. The author shows that this is a simplification and offers his interpretation based on the primacy of philosophical origins for the development of Marx's ideas. In this case, Marx turns out to be a Hegelian and a critic of Aristotle, while Engels remains an anti-Hegelian. Engels follows Schelling in denying Hegel, and Marx builds his concept on the basis of Hegel's theory of the modern world, while simultaneously challenging the Aristotelian concept of economic value. Engels denies contemporary philosophy, giving priority to science and so-called scientific socialism. Marxist economics, on the other hand, arises as a reaction of Marx to Aristotelian intuitions. The author shows that Marx's philosophy and the Marxist tradition should be distinguished not only because of the various embodiments of the latter, but primarily because of their different philosophical origins. This differentiation of the ideas of Marx himself and the Marxism growing out of Engel's interpretation can be carried out based on the formulation of the question of the relationship of being and thinking in cognition proposed by Parmenides. For Engels, questions of epistemology boil down to the fact that thinking about being and being itself should coincide. Later, this materialistic approach will form the basis of reflection theory. Marx's position is more complicated and can be characterized as idealistic. It is this fundamental discrepancy that determines the difference between the attitude of Marx and the Marxist tradition to the question of the longing to change the world.

Abstract:In the third volume of Capital,Marx proposed two major forms of the transition to new production modes,AG and partner factories,which are the conclusion of the thinking from economic perspective.In fact,Marxist transition theory has rich contents.From the general perspective of political economics,the transition theory constitutes an important part.Transition does not occur sequentially in strict accordance with the social ideology.There might be transition"by leaps and bounds".During the period of transition to socialism,private ownership will inevitably exist within a certain range.Re-consideration of the transition theory from the general perspective of political economics has importance and guidance for China's current stage of socialist orientation.

Abstract:Marx's state theory is not only an important component of historical materialism, but also a necessary part of his political thought. After long years of silence, Marxist state theory revived after WWII and developed anew in the era of globalization. Study of its main ideas, historic fate, further development and new agenda can confirm its explanatory power in the present day and promote its reconstruction and enrichment in the era of globalization. However, some questions in the intellectual structure of Marxism are still open to further study: for instance, the relations between civil society and the state and between the economic foundation and superstructure, the withering away of the state as the end of politics, human emancipation and its conditions, the economic and political forms of the transition from a capitalist to a communist society, and particularly the form of organizational system adopted by the dictatorship of the proletariat, and the ideology of the crucial link of the reproduction of social relations. At the same time, we need to learn from and integrate new social science theories and actively respond to the great changes in political organization and structure brought about by globalization, while actively participating in the great theoretical debates of today.
The Change of the View of Private Property: The Theoretical Opportunity of Marx's Transcendence of Philosophical Communism

Abstract:The philosophical communism, grounding their theory on the real people and the real society, criticizes private property in a one-dimention way, which constitutes the background of Marx's early theoretical development. In Economics and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844"Notebook I", Marx's criticism of private property makes no difference with philosophical communism. However, in "Notebook III", Marx argued that the universal nature of private property is not only a means for individuals to develop themselves at a specific stage, but also an important intermedia for people to interact with people, laying a realistic material basis for the realization of communism. Marx's dialectical critique of private property is thus beyond the one-dimensional moral critique of philosophical communism, realizes the change from philosophical speculation to realistic argumentation, and lays the foundation for his subsequent study on communism.

Abstract:It is generally believed that Marx transcended Hegel's theory of civil society in his work Critique of Hegel's Philosophy of Law.However,this is not true.In fact,Marx had experienced a long exploration process before he achieved this transcendence.This process has been much more complicated than we have imagined.The Hegelian civil society theory was developed against a rich background of classical economic theories.To transcend this theory requires not only a breakthrough of the Hegelian idealistic philosophy,but also clarification of the foundation of his civil society theory by dwelling on the field of economics.Marx finally completed this transcendence in his work Das Kapital and its manuscripts.Two other works of his,Paris and Economic Manuscripts of 1857—1858,marked out the two turning points in this three-stage exploration.

Abstract:The article is devoted to the study of the Soviet and post-Soviet Marxists’ views on the problem of technical and economic transformations. The stages in the development of Soviet thought in this matter are systematized, and the potential of applying the authors’ key ideas in the context of the challenges brought in by modern technological shifts is shown. With regard to the period after the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), the emphasis is on the developments of researchers belonging to the post-Soviet school of critical Marxism, as well as colleagues acting in an active dialogue with this focus area. What is emphasized is the high potential of the Marxist tendency in further studies of the contradictions of the economic system caused by technological transformations.

Abstract:Among the various senses of ‘materialism’ distinguished in the preceding study as relevant to Marx’s understanding of it, a ‘dialectical’ variety does not figure. This may surprise the reader who has heard of Marx as a representative, or even as the effective originator of a doctrine called ‘dialectical materialism’. Now it is certainly the case that the term does not occur in Marx’s writings (nor in those of Engels for that matter).2 But it is no less true that he considered himself as using a ‘dialectical method’ and that he held a ‘dialectic’ to be at work in the real world both of nature and society.3 Unfortunately it is not at all clear what Marx meant by this. On a couple of occasions he expressed his intention of writing a short work on the subject,4 but this is one of the many projects that he did not carry through. What writing there is on the subject in the Marxist tradition gives even less help than usual.5 So there is nothing for it but to start from scratch and to try to produce an account of Marx’s thinking on this theme based on what he himself wrote.

Abstract:Theoretically, there remain some questions on how to comprehend the socialism in China of the present stage, especially, the questions consistent with Marx and Lenin socialist theory logically. For many years, a lot of researchers have regarded every statement that is unanimous as "development" in theory, which produces more trouble. The socialist theories since Stalin, including China' s theory of "primary stage of socialism" , are all set up in the frame of Marx socialist theory in form. But in fact, there exists an important issue of confusing "transition period" and "first stage of communism". From Marx to contemporary stage, among the changes of socialist theory, troubles mostly come from the confusion. The first part of this text narrates Stalin' s change of his socialist theory and proves that the realistic socialism since Stalin is the one that does not finish the tasks of transition period as Marx says. So it does not reach communism that Marx mentioned as the first stage. "Primary stage of socialism" in China is not the primary stage of first stage of communism. The second part of this text, the thematic content, mainly illustrates and analyzes the problems and troubles in theory mentioned above. The last part makes some additional remarks.

Abstract:In the variety interpretations of Marx's philosophy,a common issue of contemporary Marx's philosophy is its relationship with "absolute metaphysics".To some extent,we can associate this issue with the understanding of Marx's "reversal" of Hegel's philosophy.We believe that the philosophical nature of a metaphysical discourse is that it sticks to the nature of its being against.Metaphysical proposition in turn,is still metaphysical proposition.By following the method of metaphysical reversal,people determine the direction of how to interpret Marx's philosophy.That can be seen as a huge reflection of modernity.It embodies some partial results as the nature of metaphysics.Once the modernity of Marx's philosophy can be comprehend,it would be obvious that only based on "historical science" and transcend metaphysical or modern vision,can we understand the essence of Marx's critique on metaphysics and elucidate the revolutionary character of Marx's philosophy truly.

Abstract:German classical philosophy understood society merely in the sense of the Enlightenment's "state of nature" and hence did not really include modernity in its field of vision.Marx,however,discovered and criticized the society of modernity by separating out capitalist civil society and its institutional structure.By transcending one-dimensional naturalism and humanitarianism,he developed his own view of society.Furthermore,he achieved the reconstruction of the society of modernity through "socialized man(or human society)" and the theoretical construction of this subject in terms of scientific socialism.Marx's discovery,critique and reconstruction of the society of modernity is imbued with political criticism and its materialized form,i.e.critique of political economy.It constitutes a critical dialogue with classical social theory,modern Western social theory and Western Marxist social theory.The financial crisis spreading across the world today is continuously reproducing the horizons of the society of modernity defined by Marx.

Abstract:The "hot issue" of the so-called "transformation problem" discussed by some domestic scholars itself is a problem.The related literatures on the dispute of "transformation problem" are not based on Marx's statements but on the misunderstanding or even misinterpretation of them.For example,they transform Marx's statements on the conversion of value into production price to mathematic model and calculation problem.The crux lies in methodology,i.e.,they are ignorant of or even indifferent to the methodology principles and narrative logic which are always followed by Marx.The so-called "transformation problem" would not exist if we understand Marx's narrative logic on the whole.It is unjustified to accuse Marx and his labor value theory for the so-called "transformation problem".

Abstract:Abstract In the influential new book Marx in the Anthropocene: Towards the Idea of Degrowth Communism, Japanese academic Kohei Saito argues that Karl Marx made a theoretical breakthrough in later life. He abandoned his earlier interest in the development of productive forces and the possibilities raised by this for the realization of socialism. Marx intensively studied a range of topics including soil science and communal societies in this time and became what Saito refers to as a degrowth communist. Relatedly, according to Saito, Marx’s ecological work had a different character to that of Friedrich Engels. Saito bases his analysis on a careful analysis of Marx’s written work, including previously unpublished notebooks as well as theoretical engagements with theories of metabolism and metabolic rift. He shows how this remains relevant today in developing an ecological socialism that is cognizant of natural limits to growth and therefore capable of addressing capitalism’s unsustainable relationship to the natural world. Saito argues strongly that socialists cannot rely on technological solutions to ecological breakdown. His conception of ecological Marxism tends to play down discussions of socialist and working-class strategy. However, it nevertheless contributes much to our understanding of Marx as a non-determinist and non-Eurocentric thinker as well as someone whose work was grounded in materialist ecological thought.

Abstract:Robert Linhart’s translated 1966 text provides a framework for examining the Soviet transition as an overdetermined development, drawing a balance sheet of the strategy and tactics of the New Economic Policy (NEP). Reading Lenin’s shifting practical analyses of the situation from 1918–23, Linhart takes a thorough inventory of the principle (between the proletariat and the peasantry) and secondary class struggles—a “complex system of alliances”—and discerns the “thresholds” beyond which changes in the conjuncture imposed strategic turns and alternatives. Informed by a conception of a complex social formation in transition as unevenly articulated and marked by intense contradictions, Linhart analyzes the NEP as a revolutionary strategy that responded to and reconstituted the “disrupted equilibria” of social forces, operating (subjectively) against objective limitations. This necessitated not only the political transformation of state apparatuses but also, for Linhart, crucially emphasized a necessary Cultural Revolution to socialize the productive forces (popular control and accounting of production, circulation, and distribution).

Abstract:Until now, it is common that the theory of alienation in Paris Manuscript is attributed to the alienated labor. Actually, it not only refers to the alienated labor in The First Manuscript, but also refers to the alienation of commerce(Verkehr) in Glossen zu James Mill. The construction of the theory of the alienation of commerce is the critical step for Marx to turn to the concept of the complex social relations from the concept of one man's self-alienation. The theory of the alienation of commerce is also the premise for Marx to construct his concept of the society as well as his historical materialism. Therefore, theoretically speaking, the theory of the alienation of commerce is deeper than that of the alienated labor, Glossen zu James Mill is more mature than The First Manuscript. We should follow the order confirmed by the research of literature when we try to explain Paris Manuscript. If there was a fundamental change in the development of the early thoughts of Marx, Glossen zu James Mill is the turning point of the change.

Abstract:The modern world has entered a complex controversial era of changing economic systems, clearly visible in a variety of new phenomena. These include the completion of industrialization in developed countries with the development of the third industrial revolution and the entry into the era of technology development of the Fourth industrial revolution. Such a change resolves the fundamental contradiction of capitalism that has reached a critical level, in the author's interpretation, on the side of the productive forces acting as an environmental crisis, on the side of industrial relations – inequality in income and property. In the era of changing economic systems, it is appropriate to ask a question about the relevance of classical forecasts regarding the future of capitalism, and there are two such in their scientific heritage. The first of them is the well–known socialist one, set out in the Manifesto of the Communist Party, published in 1848, and, on the contrary, the forecast about the «transformation of the capitalist mode of production into an associated one,» which Marx outlined very succinctly, but clearly and unambiguously in the third volume of Capital. The followers of the classics picked up the first forecast, contrary to their expectations, which never took place in the history of capitalism in developed countries, addressed directly to them by the classics, but implemented in semi-feudal Russia. However, the age of socialism turned out to be short-lived in it, but the reasons for its fleeting death are not fully realized to this day. And on the contrary, the second forecast took place: capitalism underwent such a transformation at the stage of mastering the second industrial revolution and even more – the third. Let's try to figure out how popular a socialist forecast can be in modern conditions. This is also relevant in view of the steady increase in state ownership, which abolishes the monopoly of private ownership forms inherent in capitalism and contributes to the increasing role of the state as a macroeconomic entity.

Abstract:History reveals how the production and function of art have been progressively changed. This paper will investigate the emancipation of a work of art derived from historical accounts that are grounded in Marx and Engels’ theory of communism concerning the abolition of private property. This inquiry encompassed three phases: In the first phase, nature rules over man; in the second, private property develops and nature is reduced to a simple object for man; and in the third phase, man revolutionizes and eliminates everything. This study will tackle the historical development of art, including 1 ) on ritual activity, 2 ) on commodification and exploitation, and 3 ) on revolution and distribution, to describe the present condition of art. Finally, surpassing modernity and moving into a new condition, the work of art arrives at its final point of departure —maturity. Upon entering the information age, the attitudes of art emancipate from ritual representations to economic commodification into technological expression. Nevertheless, the emancipation of the fine arts into mass art is expected to take place.

Abstract:Marxist Economics is rich in theoretical conceptions about financial crisis.According to Marx,the general cause of financial crisis lies in the instability inherent in finance.The instability is characterized by financial oversensitivity,stock market volatility,financial contagion and contractual risk.Specifically,reasons for the financial crisis include production crisis,financial chaos,international flow of precious metals,etc.During a financial crisis,central banks can take adjusting and controlling measures to alleviate the impact of financial crisis.Endogenous money determines the limitation of central bank behavior.Compared with the Post-Keynesian Theory,Marx's theory of financial crisis has unique theoretical implications.
