Abstract:This paper is concerned with the following Kirchhoff-Schrödinger-Poisson system: $$\begin{aligned} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} \displaystyle -\big (a+ b\int _{\mathbb {R}^{3}}|\nabla u|^{2}\mathrm {d}x\big )\Delta u + V(x)u+\phi u=\lambda g(x)u^{q-1}+h(x)u^{5}, &{} \ \ \text{ in } \mathbb {R}^{3},\\ -\Delta \phi = u^{2},~u>0,&{} \ \ \text{ in } \mathbb {R}^{3},\\ \end{array} \right. \end{aligned}$$where $a>0$, $b\ge 0$, $q\in [4,6)$ and $\lambda >0$ is a parameter. Under some suitable conditions on V(x), g(x) and h(x), by using the Nehari manifold technique and the Ljusternik-Schnirelmann category theory, we relate the number of positive solutions with the topology of the global maximum set of h when $\lambda $ is small enough. Furthermore, with the aid of the Mountain Pass Theorem, we also obtain an existence result for $\lambda $ sufficiently large. Recent results from the literature are generally improved and extended.

Abstract:The higher order Kirchhoff type equation $$\int_{\mathbb{R}^{2m}}(|\nabla^m u|^2 +\sum_{\gamma=0}^{m-1}a_{\gamma}(x)|\nabla^{\gamma}u|^2)dx \left((-\Delta)^m u+\sum_{\gamma=0}^{m-1}(-1)^\gamma \nabla^\gamma\cdot(a_\gamma (x)\nabla^\gamma u)\right) =\frac{f(x,u)}{|x|^\beta}+\epsilon h(x)\ \ \text{in}\ \ \mathbb{R}^{2m}$$ is considered in this paper. We assume that the nonlinearity of the equation has exponential critical growth and prove that, for a positive $\epsilon$ which is small enough, there are two distinct nontrivial solutions to the equation. When $\epsilon=0$, we also prove that the equation has a nontrivial mountain-pass type solution.

Abstract:We consider the following nonlinear Schrödinger equations with critical growth: \begin{equation} - \Delta u + V(|y|)u=u^{\frac{N+2}{N-2}},\quad u>0 \ \ \mbox{in} \ \mathbb {R}^N, \end{equation} where $V(|y|)$ is a bounded positive radial function in $C^1$, $N\ge 5$. By using a finite reduction argument, we show that if $r^2V(r)$ has either an isolated local maximum or an isolated minimum at $r_0>0$ with $V(r_0)>0$, there exists infinitely many non-radial large energy solutions which are invariant under some sub-groups of $O(3)$.

Abstract:In the present work we establish the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for a critical elliptic problem in the whole space . The main feature here is to treat a Kirchhoff-type elliptic problem where the nonlinearity is critical and defines a sign-changing function. Our approach relies on the minimization method applied to the Nehari manifold together with the nonlinear Rayleigh quotient method. Here, we use the fibering maps associated with the energy functional which exhibits degenerate points under suitable values on the two parameters within the nonlinearity. This difficulty does not allow us to apply the Lagrange Multipliers Theorem in general. Furthermore, our nonlinearity does not satisfy the famous Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. Our main contribution relies on restoring the strong convergence and compactness results from the Sobolev spaces into the Lebesgue spaces. Here, we establish also some nonexistence results under specific assumptions on the nonlinearity by using a Pohozaev identity.

Abstract:We investigate the existence, multiplicity and concentration of nontrivial solutions for the following fractional magnetic Kirchhoff equation with critical growth: \begin{equation*} \left(a\varepsilon^{2s}+b\varepsilon^{4s-3} [u]_{A/\varepsilon}^{2}\right)(-\Delta)_{A/\varepsilon}^{s}u+V(x)u=f(|u|^{2})u+|u|^{\2-2}u \quad \mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^{3}, \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon$ is a small positive parameter, $a, b>0$ are fixed constants, $s\in (\frac{3}{4}, 1)$, $2^{*}_{s}=\frac{6}{3-2s}$ is the fractional critical exponent, $(-\Delta)^{s}_{A}$ is the fractional magnetic Laplacian, $A:\mathbb{R}^{3}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{3}$ is a smooth magnetic potential, $V:\mathbb{R}^{3}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a positive continuous potential verifying the global condition due to Rabinowitz \cite{Rab}, and $f:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a $C^{1}$ subcritical nonlinearity. Due to the presence of the magnetic field and the critical growth of the nonlinearity, several difficulties arise in the study of our problem and a careful analysis will be needed. The main results presented here are established by using minimax methods, concentration compactness principle of Lions \cite{Lions}, a fractional Kato's type inequality and the Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory of critical points.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence, multiplicity and concentration behaviour of ground states for a class of quasilinear Schrodinger equations with critical growth. By using a change of variables, the quasilinear equations are reduced to a semilinear one, whose associated functionals are well defined in the usual Sobolev space and satisfy the geometric conditions of the mountain pass theorem. We relate the number of positive solutions with the topology of the set where the potential attains its minimum value. The proofs are based on the Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory and variational methods.
