Abstract:Herein, metal-free oxidative tandem cross-dehydrogenative coupling of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with N,N-dimethylanilines is developed. The reaction affords two new C(sp(3))-C(sp(3)) bonds in one pot. A broad range of ss-dicarbonyl compounds and N,N-dimethylanilines were compatible, and the desired products were synthesized in moderate-to-good yields.

Abstract:We report for the first time that zero-valent nanoporous gold (AuNPore) is a robust and green heterogeneous catalyst for α-C-H functionalization of various tertiary amines. AuNPore combines with molecular oxygen at 80 °C or tert-butyl hydrogen peroxide at room temperature and catalyses the heterogeneous cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reaction efficiently to afford the corresponding C-C and C-heteroatom coupling products in good to excellent yields with excellent reusability.

Abstract:Iron is the most abundant transition metal on Earth. In this study, we have demonstrated an iron nanoparticle–loaded kaolin-catalyzed cross dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reaction via C(sp 3 )–H activation. We use CDC of carboxylic acids with cyclohexenes to discuss various reaction parameters such as the amount of catalyst, oxidant, reaction temperature, and time. Under optimized reaction condition, the corresponding allylic ester was obtained with good yield of (85%). Screening of substituted benzoic acids and cyclic and acyclic olefins shows broad catalytic activities. Notably, the catalyst can be easily separated from the reaction mixture via simple centrifugation and remains active over five cycles of reuse.

Abstract:Reported herein is an unprecedented photocatalytic asymmetric cross-dehydrogenative coupling reaction between tertiary amines and simple ketones, and it proceeds by synergistic multiple catalysis with substoichiometric amounts of a hydrogen acceptor. This process is enabled by a simple chiral primary amine catalyst through the coupling of a catalytic enamine intermediate and an iminium cation intermediate in situ generated from tetrahydroisoquinoline derivatives by coupled Ru/Co catalysis.

Abstract:A copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) of amine with α-carbonyl aldehyde has been developed. Many types of amines are tolerant in this transformation leading to various α-ketoamides compounds. Wide substrate scope, CDC strategy and using air as oxidant make this transformation highly efficient and practical. Molecular oxygen acts not only as the oxidant, but also as an initiator to trigger this catalytic process. Furthermore, mechanism studies show that carbonyl group of α-carbonyl aldehyde plays a role as the directing group to facilitate this chemical process.

Abstract:The developed methodology describes an efficient Rh(III)-catalyzed oxidative C-H/C-H cross-coupling between acyclic enamides and heteroarenes. This cross dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reaction offers advantages, including excellent regioselectivity and stereoselectivity, good functional group compatibility, and a broad substrate scope. Mechanistically, Rh(III)-catalyzed β-C(sp2)-H activation of acyclic enamides is proposed to be the critical step.

Abstract:Herein, a facile and efficient method about hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) mediated electrochemical cross dehydrogenation coupling (CDC) reaction of heterocycles with ethers has been established. Saturated linear, branched or cyclic ethers were all suitable for this cross‐coupling reaction to form the corresponding products in 70–98% yields. The advantages of this reaction are transition metal‐ and chemical oxidant‐free conditions, high yields, and broad functional group tolerance, etc.

Abstract:Decarboxylative cross-coupling of carboxylic acids and aryl halides has become a key transformation in organic synthe- sis to form C(sp2)–C(sp3) bonds. In this report, a base metal pairing between Fe and Ni has been developed with complementary reactivity to the well-established Ir and Ni metallaphotoredox reactions. Utilizing an inexpensive FeCl3 co-catalyst along with a pyr- idine carboxamidine Ni catalyst, a range of aryl iodides can be preferentially coupled to carboxylic acids over boronic acid esters, triflates, chlorides, and even bromides in high yields. Additionally, carboxylic acid derivatives containing heterocycles, N-protected amino acids, electron-rich amines, and protic functionality can be coupled in 23-96% yield with a range of sterically hindered, elec- tron-rich, and electron-deficient aryl iodides. Preliminary catalytic and stoichiometric reactions support a mechanism in which Fe is responsible for the activation of carboxylic acid upon irradiation with light and a Ni(I)alkyl intermediate is responsible for activation of the aryl iodide coupling partner followed by reductive elimination to generate product.

Abstract:AbstractThe first oxidative C(sp3)−H/C(sp3)−H cross‐dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reaction promoted by an internal oxidant is reported. This copper‐catalyzed CDC reaction of oxime acetates and trifluoromethyl ketones provides a simple and efficient approach towards 2‐trifluoromethyldihydropyrrol‐2‐ol derivatives in a highly diastereoselective manner by cascade C(sp3)−C(sp3) bond formation and cyclization. These products were further transformed into various significant and useful trifluoromethylated heterocyclic compounds, such as trifluoromethylated furan, thiophene, pyrrole, dihydropyridazine, and pyridazine derivatives. A trifluoromethylated analogue of an Aβ42 lowering agent was also synthesized smoothly. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicated that this reaction involves a copper(I)/copper(III) catalytic cycle with the oxime acetate acting as an internal oxidant.

Abstract:A novel core-shell structured nanocatalyst (Fe3O4@SiO2-NH2-FeCu nanoparticles) with ultrafine FeCu alloy NPs magnetically immobilized in porous silica has been fabricated. The obtained catalyst revealed excellent activity and chemoselectivity for catalyzing the hydrogenation of nitroarenes to corresponding anilines using hydrazine hydrate as the hydrogen source, and the reaction could be carried out smoothly in water, which is an environmentally friendly solvent. The FeCu alloy effectively prevented the dehalogenation of halonitroarenes, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) study showed that it resulted from the electron-enrichment of Fe from Cu. A kinetics study indicated that the reaction order was about 1.5 towards 4-CNB and the apparent active energy (E-a) was 48.1 kJ mol(-1), which is a relatively low value. Furthermore, the FeCu NPs are magnetically immobilized in the silica spheres (Fe3O4@SiO2), therefore the catalyst can be easily recovered by use of an external magnet and also possesses a long life time.
