Abstract:Sr2Ti1-x(Mg1/3Nb2/3)(x)O-4 (0 <= x <= 0.4) solid solutions were synthesized by standard solid-state reaction method for the first time, and their microwave dielectric properties were systematically investigated together with the microstructure. X-ray diffraction patterns revealed the formation of solid solutions in the whole composition range, while two kinds of secondary phases started to appear when x = 0.4. With increasing x , the dielectric constant (epsilon(r)) was tuned from 42 to 26.3 and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (tau(f)) could be successfully modified from 130 ppm/degrees C to 46.3 ppm/degrees C. Excellent combination of microwave dielectric properties with epsilon(r) = 28.5, Qf = 83,300 GHz, and tau(f )= 53 ppm/degrees C were obtained for the x = 0.3 composition after sintering at 1500 degrees C for 3 h. Abstract:Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare strontium-containing implant (Sr-Ti) surfaces with modified pure Ti (Mod Ti) on the promotion of osteogenesis in vitro and in vivo. Materials and Methods: The Sr-Ti surfaces were fabricated by hydrothermal treatment. The Mod Ti surfaces were used as a control. These surfaces were characterized with scanning electron microscopy, x-ray diffractometer, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The biologic activity was analyzed by initial adhesion, proliferation, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), osteocalcin, and osteogenesis-related genes in vitro. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and immunohistochemistry analysis of tissue adjacent to this implant were used to evaluate osteogenic activity in vivo. Results: The results confirmed multiple nanogranules on the Sr-Ti surface composed of well-crystallized TiO2 and SrTiO3 phases. Long-term release of Sr enhanced mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) initial adhesion, the production of ALP, osteocalcin, and upregulated osteogenesis-related genes. For in vivo osteogenic evaluation, mesenchymal-like cells were adhered on these two surfaces under the electron microscope and transitory hematoma in adjacent bone tissue by H&E staining. The Stro-1-labeled MSCs were noted around the Sr-Ti surface in immunohistochemistry analysis. Conclusion: This study suggests that Sr-Ti surfaces with nanostructures could promote the response of MSCs in vitro, and recruit Stro-1 labeled MSCs in vivo.

Abstract:Strontium titanate(SrTiO3)is an important raw material of preparing electronic ceramics,such as porcelain capacitor and thermosensitive resistor etc..It has very extensive application in electronic industry.Nano-sized strontium titanate powder was prepared by direct precipitation method,with titanium tetrachloride,strontium chloride and sodium hydroxide as the raw materials.The paper primarily studied the influence of surfactant-sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS)on the performances of nano-sized strontium titanate powder in the synthetic process.The microstructure of the product was characterized by XRD,TEM,SEM and BET etc..The results showed that there was an optimum concentration of SDBS addition.The crystal structure of nano-sized strontium titanate powder,which had been modified by the SDBS,was not changed and its granular shape was spheric with average particle size of 25 nm.Its particle size distribution was relatively narrow and the phenomenon of agglomeration was also improved a lot.

Abstract:Effect of crystal size distribution on thermoelectric performance of Lanthanum-doped strontium titanate (La-SrTiO3) ceramics are investigated in this study. Thermoelectric performance measurement, coupled with microstructure studies, shows that the electrical conductivity strongly depends on the crystal size, potential barrier on the grain boundary and porosity. Meantime, because the average potential barriers height are increased along with the reduction of crystal size, the Seebeck coefficients are increased by energy filtering effect at the large number of grain boundaries. As a result, by controlling of crystal size distribution, ZT value of La-SrTiO3 is improved.

Abstract:The size effects of SrTiO3 nanoparticles are investigated by Raman spectroscopy and UV-Visible absorption spectra with changing grain size in the range of 10-80 nm. It is found that the intensity for the first-order TO2 mode increases significantly as the grain size decreases from 80 to 10 nm. Such behavior suggests the presence of the micropolar regions on the grain boundary induced by the enhanced surface-defect dipoles. Moreover, the first-order TO2 and TO3 modes show red-shifts, indicating the increase of the Ti-O bond-length with decreasing grain size of SrTiO3 nanoparticles. The softening of the Raman mode is consistent with the lattice expansion investigated by XRD. In addition, the UV-Visible absorption spectra indicates the enhancement of absorption due to surface distortion states and hence the lattice expansion, which results in the increase of E-g-value.

Abstract:SrCu(1-x) CrxO2 nanoparticles (x=0.0, 0.6, 1.2, and 1.8) nanoparticles were synthesized using sol-gel processing and subjected to calcination at 650°C. The investigation delved into the influence of varying chromium concentrations on the structural, FTIR, electrical, and antimicrobial characteristics. The microstructure of the SrCu(1-x)CrxO2 nanoparticles (x=0.0, 0.6, 1.2, and 1.8) nanoparticles were analyzed through X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Additionally, changes in chemical bonds were observed as the Cr content increased. The dielectric parameters exhibit an increase with higher Cr ratios. Additionally, there is a decrease in these parameters as the frequency rises, which could be attributed to the mobility of charged particles within the SrCu(1-x)CrxO2 nanostructure. Our investigation underscores the significant role of Cr incorporation in influencing both the dielectric properties and antimicrobial activity of Cr, emphasizing its relevance for diverse applications.

Abstract:Size effect on the crystalline phase contents has been investigated for BaTiO3 ceramics and varied from 100 to 8 nm by means of X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy techniques. Mixed phases of tetragonal and orthorhombic at room temperature were corroborated by Raman spectroscopy. Rietveld refinement for X-ray diffraction data revealed that a locally orthorhombic structure preceded the globally tetragonal form with the grain decreasing, and a modified brick wall model was used to predict the dielectric constant between 100 and 8 nm, which demonstrated that grain boundary effects, coexisted structures took the dominant role in determining the ultrafine nanocrystalline BaTiO3 ceramics dielectric constant.

Abstract:Nanostructured ceramics of strontium lead titanate (Pb0.5Sr0.5TiO3) were obtained by fast-sintering at 1150degreesC similar to1200degreesC from nanosize powder prepared by stearic acid gel method. The microstructure was characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electronic microscopy, transmission electronic microscopy, atom force microscopy and phase detection microscopy. The size effect on structure as well as ferroelectric property was investigated. The phase transition of nanostructured strontium lead titanate ceramic was found to be correlated with a diffused phase transition. The transition temperature shifs to low temperature with decreasing grain size.

Abstract:Cr3+: SrF2 nanopowders were synthesized using a chemical co-precipitation method. The nanoparticles exhibited a structure consistent with the pure SrF2 phase. Cr3+: SrF2 transparent ceramics were fabricated by hot-pressed (HP) sintering technique. The transmittance of 1 at% Cr3+: SrF2 transparent ceramics reached up to 83 % at 1054 nm, which is superior to other SrF2 transparent ceramics with different Cr3+ doping concentration. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of Cr3+: SrF2 transparent ceramics improved with increasing Cr3+ doping levels. The 1 at% Cr3+: SrF2 transparent ceramics exhibited the best mechanical properties, with a microhardness of 2.573 GPa, fracture toughness of 0.70 MPam(1/2), and compressive strength of 38.1 MPa. The luminescence spectra and fluorescence lifetimes of the SrF2 transparent ceramics as a function of Cr3+ doping concentration were also analyzed and discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, nanoporous strontium titanate (SrTiO3) with controllable morphologies was prepared by a simple and rapid ultrasound irradiation method. SrTiO3 particles were synthesized by the hydrolysis of strontium alkoxide in an alcohol/water solution and the morphology was controlled by adjusting the reaction pH value. A possible formation mechanism for the nanoporous SrTiO3 is proposed and the relevant influence of parameters is discussed. The chemical composition, porosity, microstructure and surface morphology of products were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), the nitrogen adsorption-desorption method, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Nanoporous SrTiO3 can be used as the precursor for an electrorheological fluid and experimental results indicated that the as-prepared SrTiO3 electrorheological fluid (ERF) exhibited high shear stress and showed shear thinning behavior.

Abstract:Fluorite-perovskite heterointerfaces garner great interest for enhanced ionic conductivity for application in electronic and energy devices. However, the origin of observed enhanced ionic conductivity as well as the details of the atomic structure at these interfaces remain elusive. Here, systematic, multi-stoichiometry computational searches and experimental investigations are performed to obtain stable and exact atomic structures of interfaces between CeO2 and SrTiO3—two archetypes of the corresponding structural families. Local reconstructions take place at the interface because of mismatched lattices. TiO2 terminated SrTiO3 causes a buckled rock salt CeO interface layer to emerge. In contrast, SrO terminated SrTiO3 maintains the fluorite structure at the interface compensated by a partially occupied anion lattice. Moderate enhancement in oxygen diffusion is found along the interface by simulations, yet evidence to support further significant enhancement is lacking. Our findings demonstrate the control of interface termination as an effective pathway to achieve desired device performance.

Abstract:Here we report the in vitro biomineralization of SrCO3 complex nanostructures obtained usin(g) glucosan as the modifier in dimethyl formamide (DMF)-deionized water (DIW) mixed solvents. Rod-, dendrite-, dumbbell-, and sphere-like SrCO3 nanostructures were achieved by tuning the volume ratios of DMF/ DIW, reaction time, and concentrations. The phase, structure, and morphology of the as-obtained products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. The possible formation mechanism of SrCO3 complex nanostructures follows the rod-dumbbell-sphere growth process. The as-synthesized SrCO3 complex nanostructures show excellent adsorption properties and superhydrophobicity, which may open up a wide range of potential applications in environmental protection.

Abstract:The properties of dielectric and pyroelectric nanocrystalline BaTiO3 powders with cubic perovskite structures were measured. The results show that the grain sizes and structure of the nanocrystalline BaTiO3 materials synthesized by the stearic acid gel (SAG) and sol-gel methods respectively are similar, but the dielectric and pyroelectric properties are different. There is a relaxation phase transition at about 200 K, which indicates that the ferroelectricity exists at lower temperatures in the BaTiO3 nanocrystalline synthesized by the SAG method. The properties are from the incomplete molecules or mesomolecules with various unsaturated coordinations on the nanocrystalline surface and interface.

Abstract:In this paper, nano-montmorillonite (nano-MMT) was introduced into the microbial mineralization system of strontium carbonate (SrCO3). By changing the nano-MMT concentration and the mineralization time, the mechanism of mineralization was studied. SrCO3 superstructures with complex forms were acquired in the presence of nano-MMT as a crystal growth regulator. At low concentrations of nano-MMT, a cross-shaped SrCO3 superstructure was obtained. As the concentration increased, flower-like SrCO3 crystals formed via the dissolution and recrystallization processes. An emerging self-assembly process and crystal polymerization mechanism have been proposed by forming complex flower-like SrCO3 superstructures in high concentrations of nano-MMT. The above research indicated that unique bionic synthesis strategies in microbial systems could not only provide a useful route for the production of inorganic or inorganic/organic composites with a novel morphology and unique structure but also provide new ideas for the treatment of radionuclides.

Abstract:(Zr0.8Sn0.2)TiO4 (ZST) ceramics were fabricated via conventional solid-state reaction method which was promoted by liquid phase. The effects of MgO, SrO and La2O3 co-doping ZST ceramics on phase composition, microstructures, sintering behavior, and high frequency dielectric properties were investigated systematically. The results showed that the main crystalline phase of the ceramics was ZST. The appropriate amount of MgO, SrO and La2O3 additions effectively decreased the sintering temperature of ZST ceramics and improved the microwave dielectric properties. The increment of MgO addition influenced comprehensive properties of ZST ceramics slightly. The decrement in bulk densities, dielectric constants and Qxf values with excessive SrO addition was due to incomplete growth of grains, incompact structures and increasing porosities. Additionally, the additives did not affect obviously the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (tau(f)) of the ceramics. When added 0.2wt% MgO, 0.6wt% SrO and 1.0wt% La2O3 and sintered at 1300 degrees C for 5 h, ZST ceramics displayed the optimum comprehensive properties: p = 5.14 g/cm(3), epsilon(T) = 40.11, Qxf = 51000 GHz (f = 5.61 GHz), tau(f) = -2.85x10(-6)degrees C-1.

Abstract:In this study, we investigate the changes in the crystalline structure of MBE-deposited SrTiO3 layers on Si with different deviations from Sr/Ti stoichiometry as deposited but also after annealing at high temperatures (>600 °C). We show that as-grown 15 nm thick non-stochiometric SrTiO3 layers present surprisingly lower FWHM values of the (002) omega diffraction peak compared to fully stoichiometric layers of similar thickness. This can misleadingly point to superior crystalline quality of such non-stochiometric layers. However, thermal post-deposition anneals of these layers at temperatures up to 850 °C in oxygen show strong detrimental effects on the crystalline structure, surface and interface with the Si (001) substrate. On the contrary, the post-deposition anneals applied to the stoichiometric samples strongly improve the physical, optical and electrical properties of the epitaxial SrTiO3 thin films.

Abstract:Sb-doped TiO2 films, grown on glass substrates by DC reactive magnetron sputtering, were characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy and secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) to evaluate influence of Sb on film surface modification. The results show that an appropriate amount of Sb dopant, acting as a surfactant, may significantly improve its surface crystallization and its photo-induced surface hydrophilicity. However, too high a Sb concentration may inversely affect TiO2 crystal structure and the photo-induced surface hydrophilicity.

Abstract:Sr-3(Ti1-xSnx)(2)O-7 (x = 0-1.0) ceramics were prepared via a standard solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction patterns and Rietveld refinement results indicated a composition induced onset of octahedral tilting when x > 0.2, and the crystal structure transformed in sequence: tetragonal (14/mmm) -> coexistence of tetragonal and orthorhombic (I4/mmm + Amam) -> orthorhombic (Amam). The tau(f) value could be successfully tuned towards zero and the effects of octahedral tilting on the evolution of tau(f) value were emphasized. Meanwhile, the role of tolerance factor in tailoring the resultant z of the present ceramics was revealed and compared with the empirical rule for complex perovskites. Qf value decreased monotonously with increasing x, which could be elucidated by the variations of extrinsic parameters and intrinsic dielectric loss extrapolated from the infrared reflectivity spectra. The optimum microwave dielectric properties were achieved at x = 0.8 (epsilon(r) = 18.6, Q(f) = 45,250 GHz, tau(f) = -14 ppm/degrees C).

Abstract:SrTiO3 ceramic powders were prepared by sol-gel method, Decomposition and synthesis behaviors of the compound of SrTiO3 dry-gel powders were analyzed by TG-DTA. And calcine and sintering temperature was confirmed initially. Interior structure of SrTiO3 ceramic was studied by SEM. The effects of different sintering systems on dielectric properties of SrTiO3 ceramic were mainly discussed. The results indicate that the high quality, including high purity, good compact degree, its grain size is less than 100 nm, and in low- frequency its dielectric constant can be higher than 3 000 or so. SrTiO3 ceramics which have good dielectric characteristics can be obtained by the sintering system, as follows: sintering temperature is 1 000℃ for 0.5 h, rate of ascending temperature is 5℃/min, directly promoting temperature under air atmosphere, falling temperature system is to cool 750℃ for 0.5 h with furnace cooling, then reducing to the room temperature.
