Abstract:•For the first time, hierarchical Fe3O4@mTiO2@Au microspheres were prepared.•These microspheres possess multicomponent structures and multifunctional features.•These microspheres showed both magnetic properties and photocatalytic activity.•The Fe3O4@mTiO2 showed higher magnetic properties after hydrothermal treatment.•Au nanoparticle decoration on Fe3O4@mTiO2 improved the photocatalytic activity.
