Abstract:Surface molecularly imprinted polymers (SMIPs) have been synthesized to selectively determine (–)-epigallocatechin gallate in aqueous media. SMIPs were prepared using a surface grafting copolymerization method on a functionalized silica gel modified with β-cyclodextrin and vinyl groups. The morphology and composition of the SMIPs were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. In addition, the molecular binding capacity, recognition properties and selectivity of the SMIPs were evaluated. The imprinted polymers were found to have a highly specific recognition and binding capacity for (–)-epigallocatechin gallate in aqueous media which is the result of the hydrophobic properties of the β-cyclodextrin and the hydrogen-bonding interactions of methacrylic acid. The SMIPs were successfully employed as solid-phase extraction adsorbents prior to the HPLC determination of (–)-epigallocatechin gallate in toothpaste. The HPLC analysis had a linear dynamic range of 0.5–50.0 μg·mL−1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9998 and the recoveries ranged from 89.4% to 97.0% with relative standard deviations less than 4.8%. The limit of detection and limit of quantification were 0.17 and 0.33 μg·mL−1, respectively. The method provides a promising approach for the preparation of selective materials for the purification and determination of complex samples.

Abstract:Molecular imprinting polymers(MIPs) were synthesized by bulk polymerization,using capsaicin as the template molecule and 2-vinylpyridine(2-VP) and Acrylamide(AM) as the function monomers.The specific adsorption ability of the molecularly imprinted polymers(MIPs) to capsaicin was evaluated by equilibrium binding experiments,saturated adsorption time was assessed by saturated adsorption experiments and selective adsorption ability to capsaicin analogs was appraised by selective adsorption experiments.The results showed that MIPs exerted the best adsorption efficiency to capsaicin when the ratio of capsaicin:2-VP:AM was 1:2:2,with a adsorption capacity of 20.46 mg/g and a recognition factor of 3.05.Morevoer saturated adsorption time was 6 h and better selective recognition to capsaicin was found.In this study,the elution efficiencies of eluents of different polarity for specific adsorption and non-specific adsorption of capsaicin in solid phace extraction column of MIPs were investigated.The specific adsorption was kept while the non-specific adsorption was discharged to the greatest extent when using chloroform as the eluent.

Abstract:On account of the specificity and reproducibility for the determination of penicilloic acid in penicillin, this study aims to prepare penicilloic acid imprinted polymers (PEOA-MIPs) by surface polymerization method at the surface of modified silica particles by using penicilloic acid (PEOA) as the template molecule, methacrylic acid (MAA) as the functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate ( EGDMA) as the cross linker, and methanol/acetonitrile as the solvents. The synthesis conditions were optimized, and PEOA-MIPs had the best adsorption capacity when the molar ratio of template molecule/functional monomer was 1 :4, cross linking degree was 85% and the solvent ratio of methanol/acetonitrile was 1 :1 (v/v). The adsorption properties were evaluated by adsorption experiments, including the adsorption isotherms, kinetics and selectivity. The adsorption process between PEOA-MIPs and PEOA fitted the Langmuir adsorption isotherm with the maximum adsorption capacity of 122. 78 mg/g and the pseudo-second-order reaction kinetics with fast adsorption kinetics (the equilibrium time of 45 min). The as-synthesized PEOA-MIPs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The results indicated that the MIPs layer has been successfully grafted on the surface of SiO2 microparticles and the PEOA-MIPs had the excellent thermal stability. The PEOA-MIPs showed the highest selective recognition for PEOA. The PEOA-MIPs possess a high adsorption capacity, rapid mass-transfer rate and high selectivity to PEOA when compared with non-imprinted polymers (PEOA-NIPs). The PEOA-MIPs was expected to be used as the solid phase extraction medium and this study provides the potential applications for fast recognition and analysis of the penicilloic acid in penicillin.

Abstract:The structurally stable molecularly imprinted hollow microspheres (MIHM) were prepared by the Pickering emulsion method using ZIF-8 as the stable particle and amoxicillin (AMOX) as the template molecule. MIHM were used to separate amoxicillin from solution. The physicochemical properties and adsorption properties of MIHM were studied by scanning electron microscope, Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction and static adsorption experiments. The results show that ZIF-8 nanoparticles can stabilize the Pickering emulsion, and the particles are distributed on the surface of hollow MIHM capsules with a capsule size of about 20-80 mu m. The results of adsorption experiments showed that MIHM had a large adsorption capacity for AMOX, and reached an adsorption capacity of 0.1577 mmol g(-1) in AMOX solution (308 K, pH = 7.0, and 100 mg L-1). MIHM showed high selectivity for AMOX in selective adsorption experiments. After 5 cycles of recycling, the adsorption capacity of materials only decreased by 9.03%. So, it proves that the MIHM have good regenerability.

Abstract:In this study, a selective sample preparation method coupling surface molecularly imprinting polymers (SMIPs) with solid-phase extraction (SPE) was developed for the determination of penicillin G from tap water and milk samples. SMIPs for penicillin G were synthesized by using silica gel as supporting matrix, methacrylic acid (MAA) as the functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) as the cross-linker, methanolacetonitrile (1:1,v/v) as the solvents and 2,2′-azo-bisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator. Characterization and adsorption experiments revealed that SMIPs exhibited large adsorption capacity, high recognition ability and high rate of mass transfer. Application of SMIPs in SPE followed by HPLC was done to selectively determine penicillin G from tap water and milk samples. Under the optimal conditions, the proposed method demonstrated high linearity with the concentration of penicillin G ranging from 0.12 to 200 μg mL
A Novel Surface Molecularly Imprinted Polymer As the Solid-Phase Extraction Adsorbent for the Selective Determination of Ampicillin Sodium in Milk and Blood Samples

Abstract:Surface molecularly imprinted polymers (SMIPs) for selective adsorption of ampicillin sodium were synthesized using surface molecular imprinting technique with silica gel as a support. The physical and morphological characteristics of the polymers were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), elemental analysis and nitrogen adsorption–desorption test. The obtained results showed that the SMIPs displayed great adsorption capacity (13.5 μg/mg), high recognition ability (the imprinted factor is 3.2) and good binding kinetics for ampicillin sodium. Finally, as solid phase extraction adsorbents, the SMIPs coupled with HPLC method were validated and applied for the enrichment, purification and determination of ampicillin sodium in real milk and blood samples. The averages of spiked accuracy ranged from 92.1% to 107.6%. The relative standard deviations of intra- and inter-day precisions were less than 4.6%. This study provides a new and promising method for enriching, extracting and determining ampicillin sodium in complex biological samples.

Abstract:The ampicillin (AMPI) molecularly imprinted polymer microspheres (MIPMs) via aqueous suspension polymerization were synthesized for the first time. Evaluation on the MIPMs by chromatographic analysis indicated that the optimum type and ratio of functional monomer to the template was 2-(Diethylamino) ethyl methacrylate (DEAEM) and 8: 1, respectively. Under the optimized MISPE conditions, the recoveries were all above 89% for spiked AMPI in honey samples. After MISPE treatment, the obtained AMPI chromatograms showed that the matrix interferences could be almost neglected. The results demonstrate that the obtained MIPMs are applicable as inner adsorbents in MISPE cartridges for extraction of AMPI in foods.
Study on Synthesis and Characterization of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers of Streptomycin by Surface Imprinting Polymerization

Abstract:Silicon dioxide （SiO2 ）particles were treated with silane and their surface were grafted with 3-（methacryloxypropyl）- trimethoxysilane （y- MPS） . Subsequently molecularly imprinted membrane was synthesized on the surface of SiO2 particles,where streptomycin was used as the template molecule, methacrylic acid（MAA） was used as functional monomer and N, N＇-Methylenebisacrylamide（ MBA）was used as cross linker. Finally, molecularly imprinted polymer（MIPMs） and non- molecularly imprinted polymer （NMIPMs） were prepared by surface imprinting polymerization.The morphology of MIPMs was characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy（ SEM ）. Infrared spectra of MIPMs and NMIPMs demonstrated the components of them. The experimental results of isotherm binding of MIPMs and NMIPMs at different concentrations of streptomycin indicated that MIPMs absorbed more substrates than NMIPMs. MIPMs also showed good selectivity for streptomycin through the isotherm binding test of two other different substrates which were neomycin and gentamicin.

Abstract:Penicilloic acid (PA) is a degraded byproduct of penicillin and often causes fatal allergies to humans, but its rapid detection in penicillin drugs remains a challenge due to its similarity to the mother structure of penicillin. Here, we reported a ligand-replaced molecularly imprinted monolayer strategy on a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate for the specific recognition and rapid detection of Raman-inactive PA in penicillin. The bis(phenylenediamine)-Cu2+-PA complex was first synthesized and stabilized onto the surface of silver nanoparticle film that was fabricated by a bromide ion-added silver mirror reaction. A molecularly imprinted monolayer was formed by the further modification of alkanethiol around the stabilized complex on the Ag film substrate, and the imprinted recognition site was then created by the replacement of the complex template with Raman-active probe molecule p-aminothiophenol. When PA rebound into the imprinted site in the alkanethiol monolayer, the SERS signal of p-aminothiophenol exhibited remarkable enhancement with a detection limit of 0.10 nM. The imprinted monolayer can efficiently exclude the interference of penicillin and thus provides a selective determination of 0.10 parts per thousand (w/w) PA in penicillin, which is about 1 order of magnitude lower than the prescribed residual amount of 1.0 parts per thousand. The strategy reported here is simple, rapid and inexpensive compared to the traditional chromatography-based methods.

Abstract:Recently, the design and preparation of novel functional materials using biomimetic approaches for the high adsorption and precise selective capture of biomolecules have been actively investigated. In this work, molecularly imprinted microspheres (MIMs) with a homogeneous polymer shell anchored onto SiO 2 core particles were successfully synthesized via the surface iniferter-initiated polymerization under room temperature in aqueous media. Herein, a clinically relevant immunostimulating hexapeptide from human casein (IHHC) was chosen as a template. Moreover, a novel double imidazolium dicationic ionic liquid with multiple binding sites was synthesized and used as the cross-linker to improve the recognition performance and enhance the adsorption capacity of MIMs simultaneously. The as-prepared microspheres were characterized through various methods. Results revealed that MIMs not only exhibited excellent selective recognition for IHHC but also possessed a high adsorption capacity through the synergistic effect of directional and non-directional interactions, which demonstrated their potential use in the practical application.

The morphology of S-MIPs was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and its static adsorption capacity was measured by the Scatchard equation.

Abstract:As a new polymer material,molecularly imprinted polymeric microspheres(MIPMs) have attracted great interest for peculiar molecular recognition.MIPMs have a series of advantages,such as excellent selectivity,high adsorption,high efficiency in chromatography and easy design.MIPMIS can be used in some high technology fields,for instance solid-phase microextraction and chiral separations of pharmaceutical etc.In this article,the main methods of preparation of MIPMs were introduced,the advantages and disadvantages of these methods were also summarized.The effects of the methods on the properties of MIPMs were discussed.The characteristics methods of structure and performance were also introduced in detail.On the base of these reviews,the problems need to be resolved and the trends of development were discussed.

Abstract:Molecularly imprinted polymers are prepared on the surface of porous polymethyl methacrylate precursor microspheres using L-tryptophan as template,acrylamide as functional monomer and N,N′-methylene-bis-acrylamide as cross-linker.The effects of the specific surface area of precursor microspheres and the addition of acrylonitrile on the adsorption of surface molecularly imprinted polymers (SMIPs) are discussed.The results show that the SMIPs exhibite higher adsorption capacity when the specific surface area of the precursor microspheres is 432.0 m2/g.The SMIPs possess better properties of adsorption when the molar ratio of acrylonitrile to L-tryptophan is 3∶1.

Abstract:The penicillin V potassium imprinted polymer was prepared by bulk polymerization with methacrylic acid( MAA) as func-tional monomer,ethylene glycol dimethacrylate( EGDMA) as crosslinker,and azoisobutyronitrile( AIBN) as initiator,so that the MIP was targeted to recognize the penicillin VK. According to the ultraviolet spectrum, hydrogen-bonding interactions existed between template molecules and monomers with mole ratio 1:3 and better stabilization(K=2. 889×109L3/mol3). The adsorption and recog-nition ability of MIP for penicillin VK were researched by adsorption experiments. Imprinted factor was 2. 31,and the maximum ap-parent binding constant was 8. 63 μg·mg-1 . The results showed that MIP has high affnity,specific recognition ability and selectivity for penicillin VK.
Selective trace enrichment of acidic pharmaceuticals in real water and sediment samples based on solid-phase extraction using multi-templates molecularly imprinted polymers.

Abstract:A novel multi-templates molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP), using acidic pharmaceuticals mixture (ibuprofen (IBP), naproxen (NPX), ketoprofen (KEP), diclofenac (DFC), and clofibric acid (CA)) as the template, was prepared as solid-phase extraction (SPE) material for the quantitative enrichment of acidic pharmaceuticals in environmental samples and off-line coupled with liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). Washing solvent was optimized in terms of kind and volume for removing the matrix constituents nonspecifically adsorbed on the MIP. When 1L of water sample spiked at 1μg/L was loaded onto the cartridge, the binding capacity of the MIP cartridge were 48.7μg/g for KEP, 60.7μg/g for NPX, 52μg/g for CA, 61.3μg/g for DFC and 60.7μg/g for IBP, respectively, which are higher than those of the commercial single template MIP in organic medium (e.g. toluene) reported in the literature. Recoveries of the five acidic pharmaceuticals extracted from 1L of real water samples such as lake water and wastewater spiked at 1μg/L were more than 95%. The recoveries of acidic pharmaceuticals extracted from 10-g sediment sample spiked at the 10ng/g level were in the range of 77.4–90.6%. To demonstrate the potential of the MIP obtained, a comparison with commercial C18 SPE cartridge was performed. Molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) cartridge showed higher recoveries than commercial C18 SPE cartridge for acidic pharmaceuticals. These results showed the suitability of the MISPE method for the selective extraction of a group of structurally related compounds such as acidic pharmaceuticals.

Abstract:The integration of molecular imprinting technique and solid-phase extraction (SPE) implements an effective alternative for sample pre-concentration in the determination and analysis of veterinary drug/pesticide residues. Herein, we reports a preliminary study on the preparation of streptomycin imprinted polymers on the surface of silica micro-spheres (with an average size of 50μm) and nano-spheres (with an average size of 500nm) via sol gel method. A mixed solution of tetrahydrofuran, ethanol and water (volume ratio is 7:1:1) was choose as dispersion agent, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and phenyltriethoxysilane as functional monomers, and tetraethyl orthosilicate as cross-linker, while ammonia solution served as catalyst in the polymerization process. Scanning electron microscopic characterization was employed, suggesting that activating time exerts important influences on the morphology of activated silica micro-spheres, and also resultant molecular imprinted polymers (MIPs). The absorption capacity and selectivity of the obtained two MIPs were also evaluated for streptomycin and its analogue compounds in water samples. The results illustrate that the streptomycin-imprinted silica micro-spheres (MMIP) exhibited both larger absorption capacity and higher selectivity than those of silica nano-spheres (NMIP). The variant analytical performance might result from inadequate polymerization on the surface of silica nano-spheres.
Preparation and Evaluation of A Molecularly Imprinted Sol-Gel Material As the Solid-Phase Extraction Adsorbents for the Specific Recognition of Cloxacilloic Acid in Cloxacillin

Abstract:Highly selective molecularly imprinted polymers on the surface of silica gels were prepared by a sol–gel process and used as solid‐phase extraction adsorbents for the specific recognition, enrichment and detection of cloxacilloic acid in cloxacillin. The obtained polymers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, nitrogen adsorption and desorption, elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The imprinted polymers not only possessed high adsorption capacity (6.5 μg/mg), but also exhibited fast adsorption kinetics (they adsorb 80% of the maximum amount within 20 min) and excellent selectivity (the imprinted factor was 3.6). A method using the imprinted polymers as solid‐phase extraction adsorbents coupled with high‐performance liquid chromatography was established with good specificity, linearity (r = 0.9962), precision (ranging from 0.5 to 6.7%), accuracy (ranging from 93.9 to 97.7%) and extraction recoveries (ranging from 78.8 to 89.8%). The limits of detection and quantification were 0.07 and 0.25 mg/g, respectively. This work could provide a promising method in the enrichment, extraction and detection of allergenic impurities in the manufacture, storage and application of cloxacillin.
PREPARATION OF ERYTHROMYCIN-IMPRINTED SOLID-PHASE EXTRACTION MATERIAL BY SOL-GEL METHOD AND THE SELECTIVE ADSORPTION

Abstract:A highly selective molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was prepared by a simple molecular imprinting technique with a sol-gel process. Erythromycin was used as template, 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS) as functional monomer and tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as reticulating agent. Infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric and surface area analyses were used to characterize the composite structure and morphology in detail. The results showed that the specific surface area of MIP was 266. 2 m(2)/g. These imprinted polymer particles had perfect spherical shape with average size of 600 nm and exhibited especially selective recognition for erythromycin. Equilibrium binding experiment showed that the separation factor was 2.20 when erythromycin was separated by using MIP. The elution condition was optimized, and the optimal condition was methane: acetic acid (75:25, V/V) as eluent, and the optimal elution volume was 15 mL. The recovery of erythromycin was 103.1% by using 15 mL mixture of methane: acetic acid (75:25, V/V) as eluent. Packed in solid phase extraction column, the polymer was used to extract erythromycin from erythromycin enteric-coated tablets. The results indicated that the polymer can separation and enrich erythromycin from erythromycin enteric-coated tablets successfully with the recovery of 104.5%.

Abstract:In this paper,principle and methods for the preparation of molecularly imprinted polymers(MIPs) and their application to solid-phase extraction are reviewed,the effects of the conditions selected during the preparation and application of MIPs on their recognition properties are especially discussed.Finally,future research directions for the improvement of MIPs are proposed.

Abstract:To establish a novel method for preparing molecularly imprinted polymers for Picroside I with better performance on TCM research contrast to previous studies, we have prepared novel surface molecular imprinted polymers (S-MIPs) using Picroside I as the template molecule, Acrylamide (AM) as the functional monomer, and silica gel as the carrier. The morphology of S-MIPs was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and its static adsorption capacity was measured by the Scatchard equation.
