Abstract:A coordination polymer [Mn(bpydc)(Medpq)]n(1)(H2bpydc =2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid,Medpq =2-methyldipyrido [3,2-f:2′,3′-h]quinoxaline) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis,FT-IR spectrum,UV-Vis spectrum,TG and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.Complex 1 crystallizes in monoclinic system,space group Cc with a=2.031 6(4) nm,b=1.564 5(3) nm,c=0.719 26(14)nm,β=103.97(3)°,V=2.218 5(8) nm3,Z=4.The crystal structure of the complex is a 3D network of hexacoordinate Mn2+ions,in which Mn2+ions are bridged by bpydc2-ligands and decorated by Medpq ligands.Furthermore,the complex 1 indicates intense fluorescence in the solid state at room temperature.Natural bond orbital(NBO)analysis is performed by using the NBO method built in Gaussian 03 Program.The calculation results show a covalent interaction between the coordinated atoms and Mn2+ions.CCDC:875842.

Abstract:A new 3D Mn-II coordination polymer, [Mn-2(HCO2)(L)(2)(N-3)center dot MeOH](infinity) (1) (L = nicotinate N-oxide), was synthesized by a solvothermal reaction and characterized magnetically. Complex 1 is a typical antiferromagnet with alternating azide/azide/formate/formate bridges, exhibiting a new -J(1)J(1)J(2)J(2)-coupling sequence. This is the first complex to contain an azide, formate and another type of carboxylate ligand.

Abstract:A new coordination polymer [Mn-2 (NDC)(2) (DMF)(2) (H2O)](n) . nDMF (1) has been synthesized by the reaction of MnCl2 . 4H(2)O with 2, 6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acids (H2NDC) under ambient conditions in DMF. A single crystal X-ray diffraction measurement reveals that 1 crystallized in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with a = 1.8334(2) nm, b = 1.6046(17) nm, c = 2.3706(3) nm, V = 6.974(13) nm(3), Z = 8, D-c = 1.471 g/cm(3), M-r = 772.50, mu = 0.790 mm(-1), F(000) = 3176, S = 0.951, (Delta/sigma)(max) = 0.001, Deltarho(max) = 0.539, Deltarho(min) = -0.351, R = 0.0335, wR = 0.0859. The combination of octahedral manganese(II) ions and NDC ligands leads to the formation of infinite three-dimensional (3D) networks, which have lozenge-shaped 1D channels (0.7 nm x 1.2 nm) along the crystallographic b-axis. The cavities are filled with coordinated solvent molecules (DMF) and non-coordinated ones.

Abstract:Slow evaporation of the reaction mixture of ligand 2-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)acetic acid (Hiaa), 2,2′-bipyridine, NaOH, and Mn(ClO4)2·6H2O in water/ethanol affords a complex {[Mn(iaa)(2,2′-bipyridine)(H2O)](ClO4)}n (1). Single crystal structure determination reveals that 1 is a novel two-dimensional dinuclear manganese coordination polymer. The local coordination environment around manganese ions is a distorted octahedron. Every manganese ion coordinates with three ligands, while each ligand acts as a bridge linking three Mn ions. Magnetic studies suggest a weak antiferromagnetic coupling interaction between two Mn(Ⅱ) ions.

Abstract:The one-dimensional polymer catena-poly[[aquamanganese(II)-mu-[N-(2-hydroxyethyl)iminodiacerato]-O-1,O-2,O-N,N:O-1']hydrate],{[Mn-II(Hheidi)(H2O)].H2O}(n) [Hheidi is N-(2-hydroxyethyl)iminodiacetate, C6H9NO5], was synthesized in aqueous solution. The polymeric [Mn-II(Hheidi)(H2O)] segment is totally chiral and is connected into a three-dimensional structure by hydrogen bonds.

Abstract:A novel manganiferous coordination polymer, [Mn(II)-(HL)(2)](n) (H2L = 4-hydroxynicotinic acid) (1) was hydrothermally synthesized. Interestingly, an in situ ligand synthesis for HL from 3,4-pyridinedicarboxylic acid precursor was observed. Structure analysis indicates I is built up from building blocks of Mn(II)-centered octahedron and HL ligand. The mu(3)-HL ligand plays dual roles for the formation of 1-D framework: chelate and bridge.

These inorganic-organic hybrid solids are based on a pcu-type topology with nanobelt-like, sql-, and cds-type manganese oxalate skeletons, respectively. Abstract:Three new Mn(II) coordination polymers (CPs) derived from the redox-active tetra(4-pyridyl)-tetrathiafulvalene ligand (TTF(py)4), namely, {[MnCl2(TTF-(py)(4))]center dot 4CH(2)Cl(2)center dot CH3OH}(n) (1), {[Mn(N-3)(TTF(py)4)]center dot(ClO4)center dot 2CHCl(3)center dot CH3OH)}(n) (2), and {[Mn(dca)(2)(TTF-(Py)(4))(0.5)]center dot CH3OH}(n) (3) (dca = dicyanamide), were synthesized and characterized. Their topology and dimensionality are dependent on the counteranion used: Cl- forms a twodimensional network, N-3(-) induces a (4,6)-connected binodal sqc1-type three-dimensional (3D) framework, while dca results in a 2-fold interpenetrated (4,6)-connected binodal sqc173-type topological 3D framework. All compounds exhibit redox activity and display antiferromagnetic interactions. A single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformation from 2 to 2' induced by solvent exchange was observed and structurally characterized.

Abstract:A unique metal-organic polymer MncirclePDB.H2O (H2PDB = pyridine-3,4-dicarboxylic acid), with weak antiferromagnetic interactions both between the manganese(II) centers of an infinite Mn-O-C chain and between the adjacent chains, has been synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of Mn(CH3COO)(2).4H(2)O with H2PDB; X-ray diffraction shows that the polymer possesses a one-dimensional rectangular channel built up from pyridine rings and pseudo-layers formed by infinite straight Mn-O-C chain building units.

Abstract:Hydrothermal reactions of two substituted aminodiphosphonic acids, C6H5CH2N(CH2PO3H2)2(H4L1) and 4-CH3–C6H4CH2N(CH2PO3H2)2(H4L2), with manganese(II) acetate resulted in three manganese(II) diphosphonates with a layered and double chain structure, namely, Mn(H2L1) (1), Mn(H3L1)2 (2) and Mn2(H2L2)2(H2O) (3). Compounds 1 and 3 are layered with interlayer distances of 12.65 and 16.28Å, respectively. Compound 2 features 1D double chains along the c-axis that are interlinked by strong hydrogen bonds between non-coordinated phosphonate oxygens.

Abstract:Four isophthalate-bridged manganese(II) coordination polymers, [Mn-4(iP)(4)(H2O)(2)(Him)(4)](n) (1), [Mn(ip)(Him)(2)](n) (2), [Mn(ip)(dpe)](n).0.5ndpe.nH(2)O (3) and [Mn-2(iP)(2)(bpy)(2)](n) (4) [ip = isophthalate, Him = imidazole, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine and dpe = (E)-1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene], have been rationally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray structure determinations and magnetic studies. Both 1 and 3 are two-dimensional (2D) double-layer polymers. In 1, novel Mn-4 entities are linked by ip ligands, while 3 is made of [Mn(ip)](n) parallel double chains cross-linked by the mu-dpe ligands. Both 2 and 4 are one-dimensional (1D) double-chain polymers, where 2 is composed of [Mn(ip)](n) parallel double chains capped by the Him ligands, while 4 is made of [Mn-2(iP)(2)](n) helical double chains capped by the chelating bpy ligands. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements revealed weak antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between the adjacent Mn-II ions of the four coordination polymers. The data of 2-4 were fitted to the homonuclear alternating chain model to give magnetic coupling parameters of J(1) = -0.71(4) to -1.01(3) cm(-1) and J(2) = -0.02(2) to -0.46(2) cm(-1). In the case of 1, the fitting of magnetic data considering only the interactions within the Mn-4 moiety led to J = -2.17(1) cm(-1) and zJ' = -0.01(5) cm(-1), using a combination of a dimeric model and a mean molecular field approximation model. Abstract:3-D manganese(II) coordination polymers bis(nico-tinato)manganese, 1, and bis[4-(3-pyridyl)ethynylben-zoato]manganese, 2, were synthesized under hydro(solvo)thermal conditions. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibit remarkably similar network topologies probably as a result of the same bent configurations and rigid structures of the m-pyridinecarboxylate ligands. Magnetic measurements of 1 and 2 indicate dominant antiferromagnetic interactions along the carboxylate-bridged Mn(II)-Mn(II) chains, and they represent new examples of one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chains.

Abstract:Three manganese(II) coordination polymers, namely [Mn(L)(0.5)(bipy)(0.5)(H2O)](n) (1), [Mn-2(L)(1,4-bimb)(H2O)(2)](n), (2) and [Mn(L)(0.5)(4,4'-bibp)(0.5)(H2O)(2)](n) (3), where H4L = 5,5'-([1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-diyl-bis(oxy))diisophthalic acid, bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine, 1,4-bimb = 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl) benzene and 4,4'-bibp = 4,4'-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-1,1'-biphenyl, have been successfully constructed using the hydrothermal method. To understand these compounds completely, single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and thermogravimetric studies have been carried out. Complexes 1 and 2 possess three-dimensional (3D) pillared-layer frameworks, and 2-fold and 3-fold interpenetration take place in 1 and 2, respectively. In complex 3, 2D layers are linked by hydrogen bonds, resulting in a 3D supramolecular architecture. Meanwhile, the magnetic behaviors of complexes 1 and 2 have been investigated and weak antiferromagnetic interactions between two Mn(II) centres within the polymers have been revealed. Abstract:Two manganese phosphate-oxalates, namely, H2aep·Mn2(H2PO4)2(C2O4)2·H2O (1) and H2epip·Mn2(H2PO4)2(C2O4)2 (2), were prepared under solvent-free conditions, where aep=1-(2-aminoethyl)piperazine and epip=1-ethylpiperzaine. The two hybrid solids have three-dimensional open-framework structures with 12-, and 16-ring channels, respectively. Topological analysis reveals that they have 4-connected lon and mog nets. The magnetic properties of the two compounds were also investigated.

Abstract:Five Mn(II) complexes have been prepared from flexible bis(imidazolyl) and aliphatic dicarboxylate ligands and their structures have been characterized. These coordination polymers exhibit 1D single chain, 2D sheet and 3D network structures. The aliphatic dicarboxylates can adopt chelating μ2, bridging μ2, and chelating–bridging μ3 coordination modes, or act as uncoordinated counter anions.

Abstract:A new azido-bridged Mn(II) coordination polymer, [MnL(N3)2]n (1) (L=(E)-3-(dimethylamino)-1-(pyridin-2-yl)prop-2-en-1-one), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, single crystal X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurement. X-ray analysis shows that complex 1 is a 2D network with (6,3) layers, in which double end-on (EO) azido-bridged dimers are linked by single end-to-end (EE) azido bridges. Magnetic susceptibilities of 1 were measured under a magnetic field of 2KOe applied over the temperature range 300–1.8K. The analysis of magnetic data indicates that the EO- and EE-azido bridges mediate the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic exchange interactions, respectively, with the antiferromagnetic coupling between Mn(II) ions dominating the magnetic properties of 1.

Abstract:Based on methylenediisophthalic acid (H4MDIP), three novel coordination polymers {[Mn-2(MDIP)(bime)(H2O)(2)](2)center dot 2H(2)O}(n) (1) [bime 1,2-ethanediylbis(imidazole)], {[Mn-3(HMDIP)(2)(H2O)(4)]center dot 4,4'-bipy center dot 3H(2)O}(n) (2) [4,4'-bipy 4,4'-bipyridine], and {[Co-5(MDIP)(2)(H2O)(6)(mu-OH)(2)]center dot 7H(2)O}(n) (3) have been synthesized and characterized by IR spectra, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses and thermal stability studies. The introduction of the bime and 4,4'-bipy ligands into Mn(CH3COO)(2)center dot 4H(2)O and H4MDIP system leads to the formation of complexes 1 and 2, and the absence of the second ligand in the Co(NO3)(2)center dot 6H(2)O and H4MDIP system leads to shape complex 3. Complex 1 is a 3D architecture with [Mn(-OCO-)](infinity) helical chain. Coordination polymer 2 is a 2D sheet structure with trinuclear unit, in which two kinds of 2(1) helical chains ([Mn(IP)](infinity) (IP isophthalic acid) and [Mn(MDIP)](infinity)) are included. Complex 3 exhibits the 3D porous structure with a pentanuclear cobalt unit in which a 1D shallow helical chain of hydrogen-bonded water molecules is shaped. From the topology point of view, complex 1 exhibits a (4,6)-connected network with the Schlafli symbol (4(2).6(3).8)(2)(4(4).6(2).7(4).8(4).9), complex 2 displays a (3,6)-connected network with CdI2 topology, and complex 3 displays a (4, 8)-connected network with Schlafli symbol (4(4).6(2))(2)(4(16).6(12)) which is a decorated scu net.

Abstract:3-(4-(1H-Benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)-4-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenylprop-2-en-1-one (L 1 , 1) and its Mn(II) complex, [Mn(L 1 )2(SCN)2]∞ (2), were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The Mn(II) ion in 2 is six-coordinated to four nitrogen atoms of two L 1 ligands, two SCN-ligands, and two oxygen atoms of other two L 1 ligands to form a distorted octahedral geometry. Therefore, each L 1 links Mn ions through the O and N atoms to generate 2D sheet structure.
